Chapter 342: Eyes Everywhere

Sunny stared at the three villagers kneeling before him and the three sneering uncles standing nearby. Their performance was flawed, their lies transparent.

’If they want to play, let’s play the game on my terms.’ He thought, his expression remaining perfectly calm.

"My mercenaries are meticulous and highly trained. They don’t make mistakes," Sunny stated, his voice carrying clearly through the now-silent hall. "Are you absolutely certain the people who poisoned your land were my subordinates?"

"Yes! Their leader’s name was Elara!" the farmer woman yelled, pointing toward Elara’s table.

Murmurs immediately erupted among the nobles.

"Huh? Elara? Isn’t that the name of that wicked woman who used to run a smuggling guild?"

"Yes, she is ruthless."

"But I thought the King changed her?"

"We can never tell... They are so unpredictable."

"Really. You are sure it was her," Sunny said, nodding thoughtfully. "You must know she is ruthless and vengeful, yet you risked mentioning her name in public. I am impressed by your conviction." He then turned his focus to the lead uncle.

"I don’t know who you are, but you seem so upright and righteous, full of solutions," Sunny said, his tone deceptively mild. "Tell me, how should the King settle this grave issue?"

"It is very easy," The old uncle, known as Gringo stated, puffing up his chest. "You simply need to compensate all the villagers for their losses, and offer reparations."

"Yes!!" The other two uncles, Archer and Coby, agreed instantly, while the kneeling farmers nodded vigorously.

"Oh? That sounds fair. How much, then, should the compensation be?" Sunny inquired.

"How much? I know you foolishly squandered your treasury on that ridiculous auction," Gringo spat, relishing the chance to publicly humiliate the new King.

"So I, as the esteemed First Uncle, will graciously help you manage this debt. You just have to pay one hundred billion gold coins for the villagers. That is all."

Gringo pressed his advantage. "Of course! You will also have to pay, as the King, to rebuild all the destruction caused by your catastrophic battle! That totals more than five hundred billion! Do you think you can bring up that wealth, usurper?!"

"You!! Old man Gringo! Isn’t that going too far!?" Qin yelled, getting abruptly to his feet, his face red with fury.

"Oh?! The Qin family is siding with him?" Gringo countered, spinning the narrative instantly. "He not only destroyed our kingdom, but he is also harming these honest villagers! You side with a poisoner!"

"Stop lying! I know Mr. Alex," Qin roared, refusing to back down. "He not only helped countless villages, but he also supported many families! You speak of the destruction caused? Don’t forget the Child of Destruction caused all of this! Do not move the blame onto our King!"

"Hahaha!" The Second Uncle, Archer, stood up, his eyes gleeful.

"I see the Qin family are in cahoots with this new King—a King who can’t even rebuild his own kingdom! I will say the Elves, who are at least clean, are better rulers than him!"

"Uncle Archer, you—" Qin was speechless, rage warring with helplessness.

"Hahaha! Now, what do you say, King?" Gringo turned back to Sunny and Josephine, expecting capitulation.

"It seems you’re forgetting something," Sunny said calmly. He walked a few steps, ascended the platform, and sat back down on the throne, staring down at the three uncles and the three villagers.

"I am now the King. And your reputation and rights as royal uncles are now politically invalid," Sunny stated, his voice cold and commanding.

"Yet, you still possess the courage to yell in front of me, and even mention that the Elves—our rival—are better rulers. What, precisely, does this all imply?"

".....?!!"

His words stunned everyone. The King had not just refuted their claim; he had indirectly accused the uncles of treason, of conspiring with an enemy.

"You! You! What are you saying?!!!" The Third Uncle, Coby, yelled in rage, pointing a shaking finger at Sunny.

"Gringo, Archer, and Coby," Sunny recited their names, turning the confrontation into a formal indictment.

"Three of you, as the former relatives of the late King, plotted against the new King, and committed an act of treason by inviting foreign intervention. What do you think your just punishment should be?"

"You?! You can’t touch us!! You don’t have any proof!!" Coby yelled, desperate and defiant.

"Who told you I don’t?" Sunny turned his head toward the entrance.

The whole room followed his gaze as thirty people entered the hall. These were not nobles, but stern-faced, well-dressed men and women—the chief leaders of their respective villages, towns, and cities within the Human Kingdom.

"....?!"

The kneeling villagers, the three uncles, and the guests were all horrified.

"Greetings, my King and Queen! And congratulations!" an old, weathered man stepped forward and bowed low in respect.

"I am the Chief of Sunshine Village," he declared, his voice ringing with authority.

"These two villagers are indeed correct about the land infection, but the King’s subordinates—Elara and the others—not only helped us secure our lands from the contaminated areas, but they also provided us with enough gold coins and resources that will last all our people for five years." He then pointed a furious, condemning finger at the three kneeling peasants.

"These three also received their share of the gold! And you dare come here and speak nonsense, trying to ruin the King’s reputation for a few coppers?! From today onwards, you are banished from our village! Your families will also be sent out!" he yelled at them in pure rage.

"Banishment is a light punishment," Sunny commented, a devilish smirk finally gracing his lips.

"You didn’t expect this, three uncles, did you?" He turned back to the stunned noble conspirators.

"I made sure to invite all the Leaders of all the villages, towns, and cities in the kingdom. Not only that, all the villagers are outside, amongst the crowd of the commoners. Everything that has happened here is also being watched by everyone. If I don’t deal with you the right way, swiftly and decisively, others will think I am a weak King."

"You—" Gringo began, turning to Sunny in disbelief, trying to grasp how this plan was undermined.

"You’re a fool!" Coby spat, turning to the other major families. "Blade family, Xin Family, and the rest of the major families! Join us!! Let us deal with this weak King together! Let’s show him he is nothing!"

Silence. A heavy, palpable silence descended on the hall.

".....?!"

Gringo and Coby turned, confusion turning into horror as they looked at the gathered noble families.

"What are you doing?! We agreed on this plan!" Coby yelled at the heads of the Xin and Blade families.

"How dare you slander us, you disgraced fool!!!" The Xin family head stood up, trembling with rage, pointing his finger at Coby.

’This bastard! The King gave each of us one trillion gold coins two days ago! Do you think that’s a small amount?! We will be loyal to him for life! And you?! What did you ever give us when you were in power?!’ the Xin head thought, staring at the three uncles with unadulterated disdain.

"Yes!!" The head of the Blade family stood up as well. "We will never go against the King! You three are such shortsighted fools!" he yelled.

Gringo looked frantically at the other family heads, who simply returned his look with disdain and cold, killing intent.

’How can he turn all the heads against us so quickly? That is crazy. They would never betray us, not even for billions! Did he pay more than that number?!’ Archer thought, his eyes wide in disbelief at the raw power of Sunny’s wealth.

"Hahahaha!" Coby burst out laughing, the sound manic and desperate. "You think you’ve won?! Today! Your puny Capital will be destroyed!" he yelled, giving up the pretense.

"Oh? Are you talking about the monster armies currently heading towards the Capital in all four cardinal regions—North, South, East, and West?" Sunny asked, his voice calm, yet his words hit the uncles like a physical blow.

"Not only that, the Wendigos’ Pillars are leading them. Do you mean these monsters?"

".....?!!!"

The three old men were horrified. Their faces were ashen, stripped of all composure.

"How... How the hell do you know this?! You were supposedly sleeping all yesterday! There is no way you could have gained this intelligence! Not only that, no one visited you!" Gringo stammered, his mind racing.

"I know you have been watching me," Sunny said, standing up from his throne, his presence dominating the hall.

"But do you think me sleeping all day will hinder my information source? Not when I have a beautiful wife and four subordinates, plus the support of the Qin families and the Elders. Nothing can be hidden from me. In this Kingdom, I have eyes everywhere."

The royal guards immediately moved forward, weapons drawn, surrounding the six conspirators.

"You?! I admit you are smart, and even prepared ahead. But do you think you can stop the monsters pouring in from the Violent Gates?! Those are secret realm and dungeon monsters! Even if you arrest us, we will watch the Capital fall and your kingdom crumble!" Archer yelled at him in pure, vengeful rage.

Sunny’s expression turned utterly cold. "You six are humans. Instead of helping and fighting for your race, you colluded with the enemies, planning on killing your own kind and destroying this realm for petty power. This is beyond evil."

He stretched forth his hand towards the six. Before they could react, an invisible, crushing attack collided directly onto their souls.

PIFF!!

The six conspirators—the three uncles and the three villagers—vomited a mouthful of blood and instantly dropped dead, their souls extinguished, stunning the entire assembly into silence once again.

"Anyone who breaks my law for a valid, understandable reason will be punished according to the law," Sunny roared, his voice echoing with absolute authority.

"But anyone who goes against the human race and colludes with its enemies, for whatsoever reason, will meet their swift and final end! This is my promise!"

"Yes!! The King is great!!"

"Yes!! Long live the King!!"

"Long live the King!!!"

The hall erupted in spontaneous, passionate cheers. The display of absolute power, combined with cold justice and strategic foresight, cemented their fear and respect.

Sunny nodded once, then turned to Nicolette, his expression shifting to focused urgency. "Find the monster armies being led by the Wendigos’ First Pillar."

"Yes, my King!" Nicolette nodded sharply and walked away immediately, recognizing the gravity of the threat.

’Olivia... Time for you to leave this life,’ Sunny thought, turning his gaze back to the now genuinely celebrating guests.

’After I bring you back to Eldoria, the Wendigos’ Kingdom will fall entirely.’
