Chapter 72: Run, Hazuki, Run! ( 72 )

While Ellyna sat in her royal carriage, thinking about Hazuki—

"Haaa... haaa... ONE DOWN! FOUR MORE TO GO!!!"

Hazuki raised his flaming sword high, grinning like a madman.

FWOOOOOSH!!!

The flames flared even bigger, lighting up the battlefield.

Suddenly, he noticed something strange: the remaining Minotaurs weren’t attacking. They were frozen, their bulky bodies trembling and their massive hands gripping their axes tightly, shaking.

Hazuki’s grin widened.

"Oho~? Now you all scared?!"

He mockingly swung his sword again.

"BWAHAHAHAHA! TREMBLE BEFORE THIS LEGENDARY ADVENTURER!!!"

For a moment, the Minotaurs stood still, but then they turned and RAN.

"HAAAAAAH?! HEY! DON’T RUN, YOU COWARDS!!!"

Hazuki laughed, watching them sprint away at insane speeds. They didn’t even grab their weapons. Their huge, muscular bodies vanished into the distance—without looking back.

Hazuki blinked, confusion settling in.

"Huh...? Why the hell are they running so fast...?"

A heavy breath echoed from above, causing Hazuki’s body to stiffen.

Slowly—very slowly—he looked up.

His flaming sword was pressed against something enormous.

It wasn’t burning, but the flames were touching something HUGE.

Hazuki gulped, feeling the chill run down his spine.

Because right above him—towering over the battlefield—was a Dragon.

A FUCKING DRAGON.

And his sword was touching its chin.

"...Ah."

Shit.

"OI, MORTAL!!!"

Hazuki froze, feeling his heart race.

GULP!

His body stiffened as the deep, thunderous voice echoed above him. The Dragon narrowed its massive golden eyes.

"Why are you pointing your flaming sword at my chin?"

It tilted its head slightly.

"You trying extract chin oil?"

Hazuki’s entire soul felt like it was leaving his body.

GULPPPP!!!

The Dragon snorted.

"OI, MORTAL! ANSWER ME!"

As the flames flickered on Hazuki’s sword, they vanished instantly.

His face turned pale, and his hands shook as he slowly—

Sheathed his sword.

With the straightest face possible, he pointed toward the sky.

"AHHHH!!!" ƒгeewebnovёl.com

The Dragon blinked, confused.

"Hmm?"

It turned its head, looking up, but there was nothing.

"MORTAL, WHAT ARE YOU—"

As the Dragon turned back, Hazuki took his chance.

FIUUUUUUUUU!!!

By the time the dragon looked back down, Hazuki was GONE. Dust was all that remained in his place, along with a faint trail of footsteps leading deep into the forest—growing smaller and smaller by the second.

The dragon’s eye twitched.

"That little shit."

After blinking, the Dragon lowered its massive head, sniffing the air. Its golden eyes locked onto the lifeless Minotaur Hazuki had fought.

"Oh...?"

It prodded the corpse with a giant claw.

A grin spread across its scaly face.

"Well... free food."

Without hesitation, it sank its fangs into the roasted Minotaur.

CHOMP! CRUNCH! MUNCH MUNCH!

The Dragon chewed thoughtfully.

"Hmm...?"

A pause followed by another bite.

It licked its lips, savoring the taste.

"Tastes... surprisingly good."

The Dragon smacked its lips, glancing toward the direction Hazuki had run off to.

A low chuckle rumbled in its throat.

"Heh... interesting mortal."

Casually, it swallowed the rest of the Minotaur. After finishing its meal, the Dragon let out a deep yawn.

YAAAAAWN~

Stretching its massive wings lazily, it curled up, tail wrapped around itself.

"Alright... back to sleep."

With zero care for the world, it nestled in and went right back to sleep.

While the dragon just enjoying its peaceful sleep—

Hazuki was still running for his life.

His feet kicked up dust as he bolted faster than ever before.

His breathing was heavy, his mind screaming—

"FUUUUCK THAT!!!"

Suddenly—

Something hit him.

Not literally—but in his mind.

His eyes widened.

"WAIT—MY BAG!!!"

...

"Ah, forget it. I don’t need it."

Because—

WHO THE HELL IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD FIGHT A DRAGON?!

Not him!

Not in a million years!

"IMAGINE THIS!"

He waved his arms while still sprinting.

"Fighting a freaking TANK with your BARE HANDS! Yeah, YOU HEARD ME!"

Shaking his head violently, he continued.

"No, no, no. Not just a tank—A FUCKING BATTLESHIP!!"

His face twisted in horror.

"OR WORSE!!!"

The mental image made him sprint even faster.

"ONLY A CRAZY PERSON WOULD FIGHT THAT!!!"

"EEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKK!!!!"

He screamed while dashing, arms flailing.

"THIS ISN’T A GAME WHERE A DAMN ANT CAN TAKE ON AN ELEPHANT!!!"

His soul was already halfway to heaven.

His legs? Still on the ground, running for dear life.

Hazuki didn’t care about his bag.

Didn’t care about the carriage.

Didn’t care about anything.

His sole focus now—

WAS ESCAPE.

Hazuki kept running.

His legs moved faster than his brain could process.

But one thought burned in his mind—

"THERE’S NO WAY I’M DYING BEFORE MARRYING ELLYN!!!"

Not a chance!

"EIGHT MORE YEARS, DAMN IT!!!"

He shouted at the sky.

A random bird flying above got scared and flew off in a panic.

"FOR NOW—"

Hazuki’s eyes filled with determination.

"SURVIVE!!!"

His legs pushed harder—faster—

Because—

Forget the bag.

Forget the carriage.

Forget fighting dragons.

HE WAS GONNA LIVE TO SEE HIS FUTURE HOT CATGIRL WIFE!!!

Hazuki kept running—

Suddenly—

He imagined her.

His beautiful, hot, sexy, adult Ellyn.

"Ahhh... so hot... DAMN, I’M LUCKY!!!"

His pace slowed as his eyes sparkled.

A dopey grin spread across his face.

In his mind, a perfect high-definition fantasy played out—

Ellyn’s gorgeous smile...

Her silky hair flowing in the wind...

Her soft voice calling his name...

"Hazuki~♡"

"YES, MY LOVE?!"

His legs nearly came to a stop.

A small drool dripped from his mouth.

But in an instant—

The image shifted.

Poof!

His hot, sexy Ellyn...

Was now—

Kid Ellyn.

Smiling.

Holding her juice cup.

"Uncle~!"

...

"OI!!!"

Hazuki immediately shook his head.

His running speed TRIPLED.

"THAT’S A DANGEROUS THOUGHT, HAZUKI!!!"

His soul nearly left his body in fear.

"FOCUS, DAMN IT!!!"

With renewed energy—

He sprinted down the road, pushing himself even faster.

Because—

Surviving a dragon? Possible.

Surviving a cursed misunderstanding? HELL NO.

After running for a while, Hazuki finally slowed down.

His legs trembled, and his breath came in heavy gasps.

He glanced back—

No one was chasing him.

No dragon.

No minotaurs.

No angry mobs demanding compensation for property damage.

Just... silence.

Letting out a deep sigh of relief, he muttered,

"Damn... nearly became dragon food."

His knees wobbled.

"Haaaaaa..."

Placing his hands on his hips, he caught his breath.

"Now... where am I?" he wondered, looking around.

...

Nothing.

Just an empty, big-ass road.

No towns.

No signs.

No one walking.

No carriage moving.

Just... nothing.

Hazuki rubbed his chin thoughtfully.

"Well... gotta find the town."

He turned left, then right, spinning around for no reason whatsoever.

"Umm... but which way?"

...

He stood there, staring at the road.

With a shrug.

"Whatever."

And with zero sense of direction, Hazuki picked a random path and started walking.
