Chapter 44: Skylord Behemoth K’s Power

"Alright, the meeting is over."

Vesh and King Aurora arrived back on the floating platform above the city.

"Follow the big cat’s trail. We’ll be going ahead," Vesh said to King Aurora before he waved his hand and covered Arga and the gang in a wind sphere before flying up.

"Big cat?" Scarlet blinked.

Suddenly, everyone felt a strange but strong aura unmasking itself from above and looked up.

A gigantic cat was moving silently in the atmosphere with nimbleness that inevitably raised fear.

It moved gracefully and jumped on thin shadow platforms that would briefly appear below its paws as it made its way down in a rather terrifying way, its lapis blue eyes gleaming brightly.

Vesh and others entered inside as the cat began moving towards the Beast Tide that was roughly a hundred kilometres away from this Rising Light City.

People of Aurora Kingdom swallowed their shock and followed their King as they moved into their airship.

"That cat... It’s not a beast, but a machine, yet I feel there is an unmistakable living aura pulsing throughout it," King Aurora muttered.

"It’s a machine that is also powered by A-rank refined magic energy," Librarian Mirina wryly smiled. "I’m afraid it can take out our airship easily, given its mobility, flexibility, and weapon systems that we can’t see, but there definitely are."

"Are we going to help in the Beast Tide?" Prince Hugo asked.

"No." King Aurora shook his head. "We are just invited to watch."

"So we’ll see more capabilities of this Kingdom now," Commander Muran nodded, his eyes thoughtful as he observed King Aurora. "But your face tells me you have arrived at a conclusion regarding this meeting, Your Highness."

Duke Artilon and others blinked, their eyes converging onto their King.

King Aurora nodded, his expression turning serious. "Dear folks, we can’t afford to fight this kingdom whose depths are unknown, and what they have shown already surpasses us. We have been stagnant for a while now, and rushing in blindly will only result in our downfall."

His eyes recalled something that caused clear fear visible in them as he continued. "I have seen power struggles and warfare that make this sideland look like a kid’s playground, fifteen years ago on the mainland, before I was driven out by my family."

Many were surprised as only a select few knew about the King’s past.

"Ananta Kingdom has what it takes to plant itself in the mainland." King Aurora’s eyes sharpened. "Ananta Kingdom’s ruler has lofty ambitions and ideals, but also a sound mind accompanied by some powerful, unknown talents."

Pausing a bit, he continued, "The policies and how this kingdom works are completely different from typical kingdoms. For the future of me, my family, and the people of my kingdom, being part of the Ananta Kingdom is the best option."

"There will be an Ananta Governing Tower in our territory alongside the core structures of the Ananta Kingdom that must run parallel with other territories of the Ananta Kingdom while following the constitution of this kingdom. That’s all. We’d still have complete autonomy over our territory. The entire Ananta Kingdom works on merit, so the top echelon of this kingdom consists of people called Executives, and not the kings with territory under them."

"My authority is confined to that territory as long as I want to keep ’King’ in my title, but if I want to move up, I have to become an Executive and get to the frontier for when the Ananta Kingdom expands towards the mainland."

He looked at Prince Hugo. "We will hold a fair competition between princes and princesses who wish to govern our territory here, but I will be at the frontier with the Ananta Kingdom’s executives. Anyone of you who wishes to do the same is welcome."

"But for now," King Aurora leaned back as he watched the scenery ahead, "let’s watch the show. Judging by how he sounded, he plans to deal with this Beast Tide rather quickly, and I want to see how that happens."

...

"Is that the Beast Tide?" Kayan clicked his tongue as goosebumps raised all over his body upon seeing the army of beasts.

It was a blanket of darkness with flickers of colours moving with such brutal efficiency and formation that anyone who saw such a massive army of monsters would first piss their pants.

Well, not anyone, but only those who didn’t have the means to fight that tide.

And Vesh had several options to deal with it, making this a perfect chance to test some weapons.

"I’ve recharged your suits. Go down and direct the front of the tide towards the basin in the west. The rest will follow."

"Basin? Where’s that?" Rovina blinked. They were in the sky, so they could see the surroundings in a large area, but she didn’t see any basin in the west within tens of kilometres.

"There." Vesh’s eyes flickered as he zoomed in towards the west, where a large thin forest and barren ground collided.

Skylord Behemoth K opened its mouth under Kaeli’s control as a giant exotic cannon manifested with particles of nanites, and extended outward as a colourful whirl of energy. It gathered energy for a brief second before running through the weapon’s formation as an extremely purple spiral orb with a chaotic swirl of blue and crimson shot out.

It landed five kilometres away on the targeted ground.

BOOOOOOM!

The explosion created a mushroom of sparkling smoke as the ground shook like a high magnitude earthquake.

"There, we got the basin. Dump the beasts there by redirecting them. If you five work together, you can do it."

Arga and others nodded with determination and exited quickly.

On the other hand, King Aurora and others who watched the blast were dumbfounded.

"What the...."

"That blast is insane... " It’s already stronger than our strongest weapon," Duke Artilon wryly smiled.

"But why attack there and not on the tide?" one of the princes asked.

"Those five are going down. They are probably planning to redirect the tide into that freshly made basin," Librarian Mirina wryly smiled. "It will be easier to deal with them once they are trapped."

"Three Stem-rank monsters are heading towards him," Commander Muran saw the rapidly approaching terrors.

Indeed.

Vesh looked ahead as he had exited the Skylord Behemoth K and floated above it.

Three massive auras were approaching rapidly.

SCREEEEE!

Three chimera monsters made from various beasts, possessing exotic wings and tough hides, were flying straight towards the giant cat.

Each one had a Combat Power above 30 million.

"Kaeli, throw a Resonant Razor Chakram and deal with them. It’s designed to cut down big and fast targets. Let’s test its power properly."

"Meow!" Kaeli meowed with clear excitement.

The giant behemoth’s tail tip flickered with lights as a disk formed, spinning rapidly with blue and crimson patterns and surging with purple electromagnetic force that stabilized its spin and made it even faster.

The tail flicked flexibly, and the giant spinning disk vanished from sight briefly.

When it appeared, it was already halfway, and within two seconds, it struck one Chimera that was ahead of the other two, around three kilometres away and rapidly approaching.

The Chimera reacted by quickly forming a barrier around it, but it could not save its life as the disk cleanly split it in two.

The disk still had 63% of its energy remaining as it flew around under Skylord K’s control. Its tail tip flickered with electromagnetic resonance as this attack’s range was a 10-kilometre radius.

The disk made a turn while the other two Chimeras that rushed forward were just 500 meters away from Skylord Behemoth K.

Both of them unleashed an attack.

One released a torrent of sharp green shards pulsing with crimson light.

The other released a massive claw-shaped projectile bursting with volatile crimson lightning.

Right after they unleashed their attacks, the disk arrived from the side and severed both of them apart by consuming all of its energy to boost its speed and spin at once in this final rush.

Meanwhile, a ten-layered barrier flickered into existence around Skylord K as both attacks met its toughness.

The torrent of shards shattered upon contact, not leaving even a scratch on the barrier.

As for the big claw-shaped projectile, it burst into sparks and dispersed after striking the barrier.

Watching all this, Harven’s eyes popped out of his sockets as he stood up from his throne.

"WHAT?! WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?!"

His three Stem-rank Chimeras had just been cut like vegetables!

And their attacks did nothing to the enemy!
