Chapter 13: Asking A Favor From First Lady

The Viscount Mansion was quite vast and included several villas and many buildings. fгeewёbnoѵel_cσm

The biggest and most luxurious Villa, at the center of the mansion, was where Raymond lived. Several other villas, smaller in size and slightly less luxurious, belonged to his wives and concubines.

This was right. Not only did he have six official wives, he also had over a dozen concubines.

From some distance from them were ten more villas. Apart from one or two that were used as Guest Houses, the others belonged to Raymond’s legitimate offspring—Lukas and others.

The illegitimate offspring weren’t allowed to live in the mansion unless they possessed high talent for Magic Cultivation. As for who these illegitimate offspring were, they were children he had with his concubines and maids.

Now, the rest of the buildings scattered all over the mansion’s territory were used for different purposes. Some housed the maids and servants of the mansion, some were the living quarters of resident knights and some were training and administrative facilities.

At this moment, many people could be seen walking around, going about their business. Among them were two figures walking toward the villa closest to Raymond’s.

These two were Lukas and Oriana, who were going to meet the First Lady, Simone.

"Are you sure about this, Young Lord?" Oriana nervously asked.

When Lukas had asked her where he could find the First Lady, she was surprised but told him that she must be in her residence.

Then when Lukas asked her to accompany him, she became even more surprised and couldn’t help but ask why he was going to her.

It was as if she wasn’t surprised already, Lukas told her he wanted to borrow money from Simone and surprised, no, shocked her out of her wits.

Did he really not have any clue that the First Lady didn’t get along with his mother and therefore didn’t like him either?

She tried to advise him against it, but Lukas ignored her and now as they were nearing the First Lady’s residence, she was becoming more anxious.

Unfortunately, it was of no use.

"Of course. Why else would I go to her?" Lukas smiled and turned back toward her, "You calm down, alright? Nothing will happen, believe me."

Oriana nodded but it was clear from the look on her face she didn’t believe him.

Smiling wryly, Lukas continued walking and soon arrived in front of Simone’s residence where two female knights raised their brows in surprise and confusion.

Then, they slightly bowed toward him in greeting, "We greet Fourth Young Lord!"

Lukas nodded at them and said, "Inform the First Lady that I want to meet her."

The knights narrowed their eyes at him, clearly not liking his somewhat commanding tone. Unfortunately for them, though he was useless, he was still Raymond’s son. So, they couldn’t do anything to him.

"Wait here!" One of them coldly said and entered the residence. She returned just a few minutes later, and said, "Mistress has invited you in."

Nodding, Lukas glanced at Oriana, "I’ll be out soon."

Saying this, he calmly stepped forward and followed the female knight inside.

...

The knight led him to the hall where Lukas saw Simone sitting on a large sofa, dressed in a luxurious red dress, looking very beautiful and charming.

While Lukas admired her beauty, Simone glanced at the female knight who bowed and retreated.

She then glanced at him and noticing his admiring gaze which he was doing nothing to hide, she raised her delicate brows and asked, "What are you here for?"

Lukas smiled and bowed slightly with his left hand on his right chest, "Good Morning, First Lady. I’m here to ask for a favor."

"A favor you say?" Simone muttered before curiously asking, "Whatever made you think I would do you a favor? My act of sending your meals to your room?"

Lukas smiled lightly, "Not quite, but it made me realize you don’t seem to hate me as much as I used to and everyone else believes."

Simone didn’t comment on it and instead asked, "What is it you want me to do? Tell me and I shall see if I can do it or not."

"You most definitely can do it, First Lady." Lukas said and noticed a hint of hurt briefly flashing in her eyes. While bewildered, he didn’t think about it and said, "I want to borrow some money from you."

After a moment’s silence, Simone asked, "How much do you need?"

Lukas smiled wryly. He had no idea how much he would need to buy all the things he needed to create the rune.

After thinking for a moment, he asked, "Ordinarily, how much do Grade One things cost?"

Simone sighed when she heard him and said, "It depends on what kind of Grade One material you need. Is it a magic herb, some metal, medicine or something else? But on an average, let’s see, you should have at least 200 Gold Coins to buy something of Grade One."

"200 Gold?" Lukas was astonished. He was aware how much Knight Oslove, a One-Star Knight, was paid monthly. It was just 50 Gold Coins.

This meant Knight Oslove needed to save money for several months before he could buy anything to improve himself.

’No wonder he is only a One-Star Knight despite his age and all the other Knights are just ordinary Knights.’ He thought. With magic items that could help them improve being so expensive, how could they afford them?

"How many Gold Coins do I need to buy a Low Grade Mana Stone?" He further asked because he also needed several mana stones.

A hint of curiosity flickered in Simone’s eyes but she didn’t ask him anything and just answered his question, "Around 100 to 150."

Lukas took a deep breath and with gritted teeth but an expressionless face, he said, "I need at least 3000 Gold Coins. I promise to return them as soon as possible."

As he said this, he could feel his face reddening.

How much were 3000 Gold Coins? He didn’t have anything more substantial to compare, but from how a One Star Knight was only paid 50 and Helen only ever gave him a few tens, he knew 3000 were a lot.

As expected, even Simone, who managed the mansion’s finances, was shocked at his demand.

’Damn! I had thought it would be easy to start cultivating with Legacy, but who knew I would face such a big problem before I even started?’ He sighed in his heart, already preparing himself for her rejection.

To his surprise, however, after a few moment’s silence, she nodded, "Alright."
