Chapter 14: Interesting Woman

"Wait here for a moment!" Simone calmly stood up and left the hall.

After a few moments of surprise, Lukas felt his heart warming—It was just as he had expected. She didn’t have as bad relations with Helen as everyone seemed to believe and she seemed to care for him too. It was just that she couldn’t do anything overtly in fear of angering Raymond.

Simone returned a short while later, carrying a small golden pouch which seemed to be made from silk and casually threw it toward him.

Lukas raised his hands and caught it, shock evident in his eyes because he had recognised this pouch.

Still, he looked at her for confirmation.

Simone had sat down on the sofa and was pouring herself a drink. Then, she put one leg over the other and leaned back on the sofa before taking a sip with her luscious lips.

After savoring the taste, she raised her head and looked at him, calmly nodding, "That’s right. It is a Spatial Storage Bag and it contains 5000 Gold Coins. I’m giving you more than you asked because I’m not going to give you another penny in the future, no matter what happens. So, use them well.

And if you are wondering how you are going to use the bag when you are not a mage, well, you can have your maid use it. Just be careful not to reveal it to anyone."

Lukas stared at her for a moment in silence before he bowed with respect toward, "I understand. Thank you very much, First Lady. I shall never forget this favor."

Once again, he noticed a flicker of hurt flash past her eyes. First time he had ignored it, but this time he could not.

’Does she... not like me calling her First Lady?’

Just as this thought crossed his mind, he heard Simone say, "From now on, when we are alone, you may address me as Aunt Simone."

"Sure, Aunt. I will do that from now on." Lukas said with a smile and noticed Simone nod in satisfaction.

"Alright. You may leave now." Simone waved her hand. Lukas nodded, bid her farewell and left while thinking, ’She says she won’t help me again but then asks me to call her Aunt. What an interesting woman!’

Oriana saw him walk out of the villa with a small smile on his face and sighed in relief.

’It seems I was really worrying in vain.’ She thought.

When he came near her, she smiled, "It seems the First Lady agreed to help, Young Lord, congratulations!"

"Huh? You can tell?" Lukas asked, a little surprised.

Oriana smiled, "Of course, I can tell after seeing the smile on your face."

"Ah!" Lukas realized his mistake and glanced at the two female Knights, who were looking at him with surprise in their gazes.

His smile vanished and in a slightly cold tone, he said, "It’d be best that no one finds out. Of course, if you are willing to face the First Lady’s wrath, you are welcome to disregard my advice."

Saying this, he left with Oriana. He didn’t need to tell them what it was, they weren’t supposed to tell anyone, they were smart enough to know it.

When they arrived in Lukas’ villa, he gave the storage bag to Oriana and told her to put 100 Gold Coins in two pouches and carry a few empty ones.

After seeing the storage bag, Oriana understood why he wanted to do this and did as instructed.

A short while later, Lukas left the mansion with her.

...

Not long after Lukas visited Simone, in his villa, Raymond got the news and furrowed his brows.

"You find out why he went to her?" He asked the messenger.

"No, milord. He only entered the First Lady’s residence and left not long after." The messenger shook his head.

"Alright. Tell me if he does something strange again."

"Yes, milord." The messenger respectfully bowed and left. However, just a short while later, he returned and informed him that Lukas had left the mansion and was headed toward the city square.

Upon hearing this, disdain flashed in Raymond’s eyes.

"He must have gone to Simone to ask for some money because Helen isn’t here." He chuckled, "But what does he need to buy that he broke the facade Simone and Helen had put on to deceive me?"

The messenger spoke upon hearing this, "Do you wish me to follow him secretly and find out, milord?"

Raymond thought for a moment. Normally, no matter how small something was out of ordinary, he would have paid attention, but since Lukas’ days were numbered and he was not in the mood to care about anything but expelling Bloodflame’s mana from his body, he shook his head.

"Leave him be."

"As you wish, milord." The messenger nodded and left.

...

The city square was bustling with people.

Many Knights, Mages and even ordinary people were moving around, buying things from the stalls or the shops.

"Come and buy low 1-star talismans at a very low price!"

"Healing paste, a new invention of Alchemist Guru, can heal all flesh injuries with minimal pain. Come buy, one serving for just 10 silvers."

"Come check out the mystical treasures I found in an ancient cave. I will not charge anything for looking. Come, come!"

"Slightly broken magic sword..."

Lukas paid attention to the stall owner’s calls, hoping to hear them mention the names of some of the things he needed, but unfortunately, they did not.

With stall owners, you could haggle and lower the price, something you could not do with store owners as they had fixed prices for everything.

Soon, they arrived in front of Hayes’ family’s store.

"Hey, if it isn’t Aunt Helen’s cripple son... How come you left the mansion, and that too without your Knights?"

Just as they were about to enter the store, a slightly sarcastic voice sounded from the side.

Lukas looked over and saw a boy, probably 15-16 years old, dressed in luxurious robes walking over with two apprentice Knights following after him.

Lukas glanced at him, sighed in his heart, before he proceeded to ignore him and entered the store with Oriana.

The young man’s mocking smile froze in place when he saw this. Then his face reddened and he stomped toward the store, "How dare that piece of trash ignore me!"
