Chapter 72: Feast

Kael gained some understanding about Rias’s situation, but he was still not sure if it was the enemy who did it or if she had done it herself.

And there was definitely a connection between him and the person who did the sealing, because his essence had the power to unseal her memories.

Just as they were chatting, the twins returned with the bodies of three Wild Boars the size of an average human. They dropped them before him and bowed their heads.

"Good job! Now I’ll let you taste the Heavenly Cooking of Yours Truly," Kael smiled and stood up to start the work.

He went to the river with the twins and washed the two bodies after properly deboning them. It was also to give some space to the two ladies.

He could see the unease Kiona was feeling, so he felt it was best to leave them alone for some time. Once they talked with each other by themselves, he felt they would grow much closer.

As they walked towards their camp, with Kael laying on Jon’s back, he muttered, "We need to make a way to bring water to our place."

"Do you have any plans for it, Master?" Seth asked, walking beside them with the meat on his back.

"Yup. I’mma make a river island," Kael chuckled. "And you two will be the highlight of this operation."

"Does it need heavy work?" Jon guessed and then laughed. "That is what we are best at, so we will follow your instructions. This big body is quite useful."

Kael hummed, closed his eyes, and asked, ’Alpha, is there anything in the area which we can use as spices for the meat?’

[Yes. This area is actually filled with so many things that even I’m surprised. It’s as if there is some Heavenly water nourishing them.]

’That’s good.’

The three of them had to take a small detour, as Kael wanted the necessary ingredients for their party.

First, he went towards a tree bearing purple, jagged-shaped fruits called Purple Heart Fruits. He plucked a few of those fruits and then squeezed them, storing their juice in a leather bottle they used for water storage.

Apparently, it could work as refined cooking oil, which was just what they needed at the moment.

He named it Purple Refined Oil.

They didn’t have to move far for their second ingredient, as it came from a small plant growing beside these trees, as if taking shelter under the big trees.

They bore red flowers, which could be turned into chili powder.

Just like that, he went into different parts of the forest and collected different kinds of ingredients, which even included a grass that tasted like salt.

’What the hell is this place?’ Kael was surprised. ’There can’t be a better place to establish a base than here.’

There was such good land, a Giant Tree for shelter, and there weren’t even many beasts nearby. The water source was also near, and there was even a labyrinth nearby.

The conditions were so good.

But this fact made Kael apprehensive. He had ignored the tree for a while, but now he was getting wary of it. He had reassurance from Alpha, and even Draven didn’t speak about it, so there likely wasn’t a big danger for them.

But Kael still felt that he should be careful.

’I will check up on it with Rias later.’

Soon, they returned to the base of the Great Storm Tree and found the two ladies conversing with each other. There was a serene atmosphere around them, and even though Rias didn’t speak much or show any expression, anyone could see from the sparkles in her eyes that she was listening to Kiona attentively.

When Kael’s eyes met Kiona’s, he smiled at her and gestured for her to continue the conversation. Sometimes just talking was more than enough to let the relationship progress.

While they were talking, Kael got to work and began to cook the boar meat. He had spent his days outside, trapped amidst monsters, and that taught him the skill of cooking very well.

In no time, the area was filled with the enticing aroma that made everyone’s nose twitch. They forgot about everything they were doing and quickly surrounded the bonfire Kael had made to cook the meat.

The twins had their mouths hung open as drool dropped to the ground. Kiona wanted to scold them for their manners, but even she couldn’t take her eyes off the juicy meat.

All of them wanted to jump on the meat, but Kael’s glare kept them off. The three lions sat down with their tails wagging behind them, eyes full of anticipation.

Rias tilted her head slightly and licked her lips, "I seem to have eaten things like these before."

"If you’ve been to Earth, then no doubt you have eaten this too," Kael smiled and said, waiting for the meat to cook properly.

"Are you from Earth?" Rias asked, as she sat on a stone beside him.

"You can say that. It’s also one of the reasons I’m helping you," Kael replied honestly. "I hope when you recover your memories, you can take me back to Earth."

Kiona, whose entire focus was on the meat, snapped awake upon hearing their conversation. She didn’t know much about this strange place called Earth, but she was sure it was very far away—and possibly a whole different world.

Panic rose in her heart as she forgot about the meat and went towards Kael and asked with a shaky voice, "M-Master, you said you’ll make a Beast Empire."

Kael turned and found her eyes full of fear looking back at him. Her ears dropped as if she were a lost kitten. He sighed, understanding her thoughts, and began patting her head.

"Don’t worry. I’m not abandoning you all. My first priority is still my Empire, and I won’t risk losing it all—losing you. I won’t do that."

His calm and relaxed voice also made her heart calm, as she nodded and pushed her head forward, asking him to pet her even more.

Kael chuckled and rubbed her fluffy ears between his fingers, making her whole body shiver.

"Isn’t that why I’m asking her help in this matter?"

He shook his head and picked up a cooked piece of meat with his other hand. He gave it to her and said:

"Now, eat this and enjoy the celebration."

Kiona’s attention was instantly drawn towards the juicy meat that attacked her nostrils. She licked her lips and swiftly took a bite from it.

Instantly, her eyes lit up with stars shining in them. Without a second thought, she quickly devoured the whole piece of meat in no time.

Her head snapped towards Kael with eyes begging for more. She asked, "Master, what is this heavenly dish? I’ve eaten boar meat before, but it wasn’t even close to this delicacy."

Kael winked at her and said, "That’s called Magic of Hand. I’ll teach you some cooking methods later on to make things this delicious."

"Thanks a lot, Master," Kiona beamed with joy, imagining the day when she could cook such delicacies and eat them daily.

With that, their feast began.
