Chapter 51: Moving Day!

Sometimes, one needs a little push to start a fire.

Truthfully logic said it didn’t make sense for any world shattering flood to come. But something within them sparked fear of ’what if’.

What if they were wrong?

Before certain people in human history came, did anyone ever think such possibilities could become relatives?

Before the first car that had an engine came to existence, people said it was crazy to think it was possible. They thought they would use horses, wagons and carriages for humankind’s needs till the end of time.

Before metal ships existed, they said only wood would work since metal sinks. They said man cannot fly, yet here we are, soaring high in the skies.

For them, what made Gort’s flood story a little believable was him.... A genius like none other, who has clearly invented great things. Had it been another person saying this, perhaps a drunk on the streets or even a student with no inventions, they would brush it off without haste.

Sorry, but credibility mattered. The little time they spent with Gort, they knew he never did anything without thinking 5... no, 10 steps ahead.

"4 months, 6 days..." Akin murmured, reminding himself of the deadline before the floods fully rolls in.

This changes everything! Suddenly, buying shares in Gort’s companies secures him wealth not just for the rows et, but for the further era too.

One doesn’t need glasses to see that humankind will rely on Gort’s many companies for everything.

"Just how many companies are you planning to make?"

"A lot..."

Well, they figured as much. It totally made sense now, why Gort wasn’t bothered with the Big 3.

With bigger, bigger problems at bay, why worry about them now?

Don’t worry," Gort assured. "2 days before my first Press Conference, I’ll distribute the new and improved Spider bracelets to every shareholder and worker."

Gort paused. "Normally, I didn’t intend to give any to outsiders just yet. However, I won’t mind giving you all a few as a one time exception."

Gort chuckled. "If you want more perks, do a few assignments for me, and I’ll consider it even."

... Oh?

Everyone was amused, the tension in the air quickly fading.

"Kid, you’re quite bold." Khelt Kin laughed heartily. "So what is it that you want?"

"Well, for starters, I want the right to open and run a Zoo!"

"Clever," Khelt Kin replied.

"Yeah, I plan to take in at least 10 of each type of animal and subspecies."

Humans aren’t the only thing he planned to save.

"And when do you intend to build this zoo?"

"It’s already under construction." Gort grinned.

"_" [Khelt Kin and the other guests.]

Since you started construction without the permits, why then do you need their help?

Khalea raised a brow thoughtfully. It seems Gort had anticipated the help of someone to open doors for him. The more he spoke, the harder it was to see him as a child.

"Mayor Akin, now that you’re here too, I wish to make my intentions known to other surrounding villages around the Geldhan village."

"In addition, I’d like to improve the standard of living in the County as a whole. That’s why I’ve decided that we will open branch companies in the neighboring villages."

Mayor Akin was thrilled. "Great! This is a good thing. If more people work on these projects, things will go a lot faster before the flood arrives. However,--"

Mayor Akin frowned. "What’s the point of fixing the roads and improving the many structures around if the flood will destroy them all?"

Everyone’s ears were perked, also wondering why Gort was fussy about it.

If the Flood is coming, then won’t they have no land for humans to live on in the end? In that case, why waste time doing so much fixing up?

Indeed, what they said was logically current and true. But Gort had other plans when it came to where humanity will live the rest of their days.

"In a few months, you will all understand. For now, no more Flood talks."

A day after tomorrow, workers will officially start working in GF WorldTech Communications.

A week and a half after that, the Press Conference will begin.

It’s funny that workers haven’t even started working in the company, and he has already sent out invitations to the press and several people from the Big 3 and all over the world.

It’s because of this invitation that Gort knew the big 3 won’t attack him until after the Press conference. They might now want to come see him face to face to dish out their threats.

What’s more, he sent out invitations to them, and the fact that he turned their offer down not too long ago, was still fresh in everyone’s minds. If he dies now, everyone would link it to them.

If they have to harm him, they must do it in a way that seems like he accidentally killed himself in Gwintia soil.

They could also kidnap him, take him to their countries, and force him to tell stories to rephase the rejection he publicly made earlier.

All these were possibilities that he concluded would only happen after the Press conference. So till then, he and everyone here were fine.

...

It was another beautiful day in the world for many—except a few.

Today, Matilda Sand woke up to the grumblings of his wife.

This was Moving Day!

Matilda was not happy. "What sort of good job is it that takes up to a village? We already have a good noise here, and neighbors we are close to."

Just imagining they were going to Geldhan village of all places, made the middle aged woman’s face twist.

She suddenly regretted her decision to become a housewife, caring for their son and her husband. If not that they depended on her husband’s salary to feed, she would have sat her butt here with the excuse of having a job she couldn’t leave.

Who can tell her why her husband accepted such a job offer in a poverty-stricken and worn-out place like Geldhan village?
