Limitless The Strongest Revenant-Chapter 1067: No one but [2/2]
"Kaziema, answer me this. Say that we maintain the current setup centuries in the future. Would you ever allow your child to be used as a malice receptacle?"
"No, I won't. Nor will my wife or anyone from my family. I will ascend to a Revenant and remove the need for all of that. It is my responsibility. Once I become the Immortal, I will make it right."
Hearing his overly optimistic thoughts, I rubbed the back of my head in irritation before I continued to talk.
"Do you know of any way to remove malice apart from suicide? Have you tried to speak to the other battlefronts?"
"No. But I will figure out a way. Africa is strong. We will definitely find a way."
Contrary to what I expected, Kaziema was neither stupid nor malicious. He was just naive. If he were a Successor, he would undoubtedly become a Paragon. People like him would make good moral compasses. But as king to be, they would undoubtedly lead their kingdoms to ruin.
"Right. Do what you can. My only request is not to get in my way," I replied, exasperated.
"I have already spoken to them. The Conservatives will stand down; our one desire is to spare the lives our mothers. Everything else we are amicable with."
'So, everyone else can go fuck themselves, huh? Not that I can't relate, but truly he sees the lives of his servants as expendable.'
I couldn't help but grimace at his clear-cut reply. I could see his point, but his thinking was so warped that I felt he was the worst choice for leadership.
Amari and Tshilumba made the same expression as I did. I didn't know whose fault it was that the strongest prince thought like this, but ultimately it didn't concern me. I faced Tshilumba as I asked.
"And the Reformists?"
"We also will stand down. But if possible, we also wish for the safety of our mothers. While many of them truly stick around Onye, we do not believe that they have betrayed our father. Please spare them if you can."
'If I can, huh? So, he knows that he can do nothing more than plead.'
Unlike Kaziema, Tshilumba was a realist. He knew what the battle I proposed would entail. Once I attacked Onye, if their mothers opposed me, they would be killed. But as someone who understood how the world worked, he knew the outcome was not within his power to control.
"I see. Then I give you my word. I will do my best to ensure they all remain alive."
The Scorpion Warlock went wide-eyed before bowing, "Thank you, Limitless."
Finally, I faced Amari and Mia. Pierre and Zanele also came closer as advisers of my unofficial faction.
'Exa, give us some privacy.'
[Cipher has been activated. Speak freely, my lord.]
"How is your recruitment going, Amari?"
"Well. Those neutrals all hate Onye with a passion. They have lost people to him too. Should you take him out, they all vow to support Hell's Eden as part of my faction," Amari stated.
"My?" I couldn't help but repeat.
The African King Kong nodded as he repeated himself. "My, I spoke at length with my mother and Pierre, and I have made my decision. If you can ensure my father remains sane, I will devote all my efforts to ensuring that the African battlefront joins Hell's Eden for real."
I turned my head to Zanele and Pierre. Both of them gave me their thoughts.
"We will support Amari as we are able, Successor. I personally intend to leave Africa and join the Hellcats on the front lines. Once my husband is safe, I am willing to do my duty."
"As for me, my lord, I feel that my services would be better used in the service of helping Prince Amari with his task. From everything I have seen these past few days, I acknowledge that your path is the one the world should follow."
Seeing the resolve in their eyes, I felt proud of them.
Zanele, a woman who lamented spending her years in vain.
Pierre was a man who failed to grasp the power he needed to forge the future he wanted.
They were some of the most miserable people I had ever met. Fate had not been kind to either of them. Yet, while they were both brought down by life, neither wished to remain defeated any longer. And such determination was what I loved to see among my people.
"I see. I wish you all the best. Let us speak again upon my return."
"Yes, my lord!" x2
Both saluted me in Hellsend fashion. I nodded as I turned around. My forces had already assembled in front of the original Gates of Irkalla. Beside them was an army of enthralled African princes.
My girls were all lined up like commanders opposite everyone else. This officially marked the last assault that would end this Operation Rock. Like Scissors and Paper, the issues that arose from our initial goals were much more complex than we expected.
Yet I didn't mind. I do not regret any of the actions we took. And ultimately that was all I wanted.
"My lord."
My thoughts were interrupted by Olamide. He and the five princes we saved all lined up and stood at attention.
"What?"
"May my brothers and I be permitted to join the final assault? We have decided to abandon our identities as royalty like Amari. We do not bring any armies. But we will fight just as fiercely as they would."
"Is that so? Which one do you wish to join?" I asked, pointing to both groups. "The Capital? Or the supply cache of the ENSAE army? You should be aware that joining either will mark you all as traitors to your continent."
"We are aware," he replied. "We wish to join the assault on the capital."
I gazed at his eyes for a moment. Before looking over the men behind him. They showed a fierce determination that burned like a fire. Satisfied, I nodded.
"Very well. We welcome you."
Before I could finish, two more princes came closer. It was Amari and Tshilumba.
"What? You two want to join in too? Won't the aftermath be chaotic?"
"You are funny, Limitless. Considering that most of my brothers will participate against their will. Even if our faction did, it wouldn't even matter," Amari quipped. "We will join the assault for the capital."
"The Reformist faction wishes to join the assault on the capital as well. Unlike the conservatives, we are aware of the price that must be paid by Africa."
'Well, would you look at that. Even though they were weak, nine weak Specters were better than none.'
At the unexpected boon, I couldn't help but smile.
"I see. Then you are welcome. Just know that if you hold us back, I will shoot you myself. We will not protect you. If you come with us, be prepared to die," I warned.
"We are aware." "As are we."
Nodding, I turned to the few princes who had yet to join. Kaziema and a few of his followers had complicated expressions. I waited for a few moments to see if they would decide to play an active role. But none of them stepped forward.
"We will leave now. To prevent you from interfering, you will remain here till we come back. Should we all perish, that gate will turn on and lead you outside."
Hearing my reassurance, Kaziema nodded with a bitter smile.
[My lord, that is a lie. If you all die, they will be stuck here forever.]
'I know Exa. But if I do perish, I hardly give a crap what happens to the rest of them. I mean, even Pierre and Zanele are coming. Yet these lazy fucks still refuse to move.'
[Considering that they are the ones who benefited from the current system, I could hardly blame them. It is all they ever knew.]
'So, it would seem. But if they chose not to make a choice, they have no one but themselves to blame no matter the outcome.'
[I agree.]
Forgetting about the asshats who chose to surrender their future, I turned back to everyone.
"Alright everyone! Final stretch! This has been a long ass day. The Enthralled units should manage on their own. If they die, that is on the Specter who stopped them. As for the rest of us. Our main purpose here is to kill that Onye bastard. Exa and the Sirens will handle the tactics.
"Roach, Juno, make sure that your people do not die. What happens afterwards relies on you. Everyone else, I have one command. Do not die. Make sure you stay alive at least so I can shoot you with a {Restore}! I need you all for Antarctica, so forget dying as early as now!"
At my sick joke, Hellsend began laughing. The Africans naturally couldn't understand. Amara even clutched her head as she trembled. I raised my hand, and my people all turned silent.
"This is for the future we seek. A world where Hellsgate no longer exists. Every battle we fight brings us closer to that goal. For your families, for our dreams. This is why we fight!"
The Wolves, Seraphs, and Vithriss began stomping and slamming their weapons on the ground.
Seeing the energy, I couldn't help but smile.
"I thank you all for coming. Let's do this! Hellsend! Move out! Time to kick Africa's ass!"
"HOOOO!!!!!!"
At that moment, the Gates of Irkalla turned on, and all our forces began entering them. The Enthralled princes also followed their own gate for their own target. Finally, the time to beat the living shit out of Onye has arrived. And I would enjoy that very much.
