Chapter 545: Scars

* I was on short break because of our festival for a week, Guys! Here’s the new update and CEO book will be updated from this day onwards *

______________

Ayra crumpled her fist around the bedsheet, hesitating whether to approach them or not. Her powers were losing control. She never wanted to harm this motherless pup. Hence, she sat straight, watching them running across her room like wild kittens. Two of them came across her feet but she rose up her feet instantly, afraid that her powers were going to hurt them like others.

She fought with her urge to put them on her lap. The pups ran wild, bringing a light atmosphere inside her lonely room. Subconsciously, a smile rose up to her face, looking down at the pups. No matter what, she was a mother who just lost a child. Her hands stopped bringing fire off powers, lowering down to call those pups.

Didn’t Cedric warn her that they couldn’t bring back to this palace?

Leaving the discussion aside, Ayra immersed herself in playing with them, momentarily forgetting the pain that she felt yesterday.

Behind the door, Cedric stood leaning against the wall. The previous darkness from his expression had slightly faded away after he saw her smile. She looked so lifeless these days. Frenchies cleared his throat to bring his attention to him. Once Cedric whipped back to face him, Frenchies gestured at him to move away.

After stepping far away from a cheerful chamber, Frenchies spoke out, taking a deep glance of his face,

" You care for the lady, My Lord. Why don’t you tell her the truth? She might understand why you asked her to drink the tonic."

Cedric shook his head, disagreeing with Frenchis’s thoughts. Ayra had just smiled today. If he went to tell her now,she would be heartbroken again. Nothing could change the fact that he killed his own child.

Cedric swallowed hard, pain crossed over his expression,

" No, Frenchies! She was hurt already. I can’t afford it..I just can’t.. Perhaps, king Oscar had spilled the truth accidentally that one day, I will be a heartless, cruel demon without anyone beside me."

Frenchies felt the pain through his voice. He was his long last companion and knew how broken Cedric felt after the incident. Frenchies opened his mouth after a heavy sigh, cajoling,

" My king, you will just have to open your heart for the lady. Let her see your scars, let her heal you."

Cedric’s eyes welled up in tears as he swallowed the lump in his throat. With a broken voice, he stated the truth vulnerably,

" My scars are meant to burn her, Frenchies. I can’t let her see them."

Frenchies opened and closed his mouth without saying anything. Because he could feel that their relationship was standing over a lie only. If Ayra had ever found out that everything Cedric did just to use her to finish Hayden, there would be no turning back in their relationship. Dropping the topic aside, Frenchies informed Cedric in a serious tone,

" You are right, My Lord! Hayden went after to find something in Roaxana Mansion. "

Cedric let out a soft chuckle and twisted his lips in disgust to blurt furiously,

" What did you do with him, Frenchies?"

Frenchies gave a short laugh then snorted with a grimacing face,

" It was my mistake that I wasn’t guarding their personally, my Lord. But our wolves gave him a good chase."

Frenchies added with a smirk, a dark fascinating smile which wasn’t seen by anyone except Cedric. To the outer world, Frenchies might be a sweet master cat but only Cedric knew how monstrous his servant could be. Apparently, he could kill anyone while smiling like he was doing nothing. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Cedric responded after giving it deep thought,

" Put more guards around the palace and also in the villages. I don’t want his demon to take anymore innocent life, Frenchies. I have to end him faster."

Frenchies nodded with a side glance and excused himself from there to check the security. Later in the night, when everyone had gone to bed, Ayra’s chamber door was pushed open. Light footsteps began to paddle from the doorway, ending up to her bedside.

She was sleeping soundly. Her long eyelashes rested lazily on her stained cheeks. Cedric who was afraid of hurting her mood came so late just because he could see her in sleep. A tight frown appeared between his temples when he noticed the stain on her cheeks.

She was crying again!

His chest tightened painfully at the thought of her cries. She didn’t cry when he forced her on this marriage or annoyed her with his shrewd character. His head bent down slightly, one hand outstretched to wipe her nearly faded stains but he retreated midway abruptly, scared that he would wake her up.

Sighing, he left a gentle peck on her lips, murmuring even though he knew that she could hear nothing,

" I am sorry!"

His eyes crawled down to lay on her flat stomach, whispering to himself in a cracking voice,

" I am sorry, child."

Even without his own knowledge, he actually proved himself as a cruel father to his unborn child. After making sure that her duvet was okay, Cedric headed outside silently, closing the door behind without making any noise.

Then, he began to head for his usual refreshing place, the open corridor, nearest to Ayra’s chamber. Sometimes, he was worried that Hayden would take her away from him even though she was well protected in his palace. It was one of the reasons that he restricted all powers around his boundary so that even if Hayden could get inside, he wouldn’t be able to use any of his dark powers.

Just as he started inhaling fresh air, black smoke circulated in his back, forming into a figure and soon, it transformed into a man.

Cedric whipped back in alert. Once he saw the face, darkness covered his expression. Pressing his lips together, Cedric muttered in a displeased voice,

" Lord Ralph, how come you are at my palace?"
