Chapter 549: The Dragon Call ____ Part 1

Dixon Palace, Basarisk

The following day, Ayra was preparing to get rid of her boredom. A maid suggested that there was a church nearby. Perhaps, a little prayer would calm down her mind. She agreed with the idea. Cedric didn’t come back to her last night. She knew that he was keeping distance on purpose because her heart wasn’t ready to forgive him. It was better that she was left alone for some time.

Sighing, Ayra tugged on her maroon gown, tugged the sleeves to take one last glance of her outfit. Turning around, she headed straight for the church but was stopped by Frenchies midway.

Frenchies quickly bowed, his eyes shimmering in concern before speaking,

" My lady, are you going somewhere?"

Ayra nodded slightly, wondering why Frenchies were suddenly interested in her leaving. She had no reason to tell lies hence she admitted truthfully,

" Yes, I am thinking about paying a visit to the church."

Ayra spoke already outstretching one of her legs to go for the exit but Frenchies interrupted her path,

" My lady, pardon but I think that I can’t allow you to leave now. The king has asked for your stay at home."

Ayra froze in the middle of her way, shot a suspicious glance at Frenchies who had his head bowing to the ground. Turning in a swift, Ayra blurted in a low, threatening voice,

" Is he confining me in my room?"

Frenchies panicked momentarily, understanding that Ayra had misunderstood his lord again. Shaking his head repeatedly like a rattle, he clarified in a convincing voice,

" No! Never, my lady! He is just concerned about your protection and hopes that you will stay at home for a few days. Please, it’s all for your safety."

Ayra couldn’t hold onto her polite tone anymore. So many secrets were already becoming intolerable for her. Besides, the betrayal from Cedric was eating her alive every single moment. Ayra’s anger erupted, falling on the loyal servant of Cedric,

" What protection, Frenchies? For what reason? Is someone going to kidnap me or your Lord just wants to control my life? At least, give me a reason!"

Frenchies opened and closed his mouth nervously. He couldn’t dare to spill out the truth and sighed longingly before mumbling,

" I..I don’t know..Last time, you faced what happened when his demon had taken full control of his body. Please! Please know that he would never do anything to harm you."

Frenchies pleaded on behalf of his lord and waited for her reaction. Ayra remembered the night with the demon, she still felt a chill running through her spine. Even as a powerful creature on earth, she was terrified around his existence. Giving up on the argument, Ayra mumbled, tears streaking down from her eyes,

" I..I don’t.. trust him.."

With her last words, she didn’t go back anymore and ran upstairs towards her room to lock herself again. Frenchies could only sigh pitifully at her running back. Cedric never wished to confine her but last night, Lord Ralph came all by himself to warn Cedric. It had only meaning that Hayden wasn’t going to stop easily this time.

Later in the evening, Elizabeth accompanied Ayra out of the bed. They moved together towards the pool behind the palace. Elizabeth didn’t stop grumbling all the way,

" Princess, I still think that it is a bad idea. His highness will be mad at me if he knows that I helped you by stealing the book. Last time, you felt sick here."

Ayra was quite calm on their way. Upon her consistent grumbling, she finally sent her a glare before spatting,

" Can you stop now? It wasn’t your fault last time."

Elizabeth sighed heavily and followed her footsteps to end up in front of a big pool. The moon wasn’t clearly visible tonight. The light was too low to see everything clearly but they could barely see the water surface.

Ayra sat down on the edge of the pool with Elizabeth doing the same. Staring deep into the water, Ayra spoke taking a glance to ensure that no one was around,

" Have you read everything carefully?"

Elizabeth nodded affirmatively and replied looking into the water,

" Yes! The dragon will land on the pool if it accepts your call."

Ayra hummed lowly but wasn’t confident in herself because Debisa happened to dislike her a lot. Besides, Cedric was against this idea of recalling Debisa whom he freed from the salvatory. Keeping her eyes on the water, Ayra gestured at Elizabeth who couldn’t stop her worry,

" Give me those lotuses."

Elizabeth passed her the freshly bought lotus. Following up the ritual, Ayra placed them in the water, sitting her legs crossed and preparing herself to start the call. Elizabeth reminded her carefully, fixing the lotus inside the pool,

" Remember, Princess! You have to imagine a strong image of Debisa or else it’s not going to work."

Ayra took a deep breath, grabbed the piece of paper in Elizabeth’s hand that had the words written clearly. Soon, her low voice started speaking in a different language which was completely unfamiliar to Elizabeth. Elizabeth didn’t break her eyes from the pool, hoping that Debisa would land down as early as possible. She didn’t want to arouse another conflict between the king and her princess.

Ayra started chanting those series of words with full sincerity. Her vision recalled the piece of memories that she received of the day when Cedric drove away Debisa from Basarisk, his ferocious eyes. No matter how much she tried, the outcome remained the same. There was no sign of Debisa, coming down from the sky.

After a while, Elizabeth interrupted her chanting slowly,

" Princess, it’s not going to work possibly. Let’s return to the palace. "

Ayra stopped her call midway, staring deep into those lotuses that started turning raw. Those lotuses were the symbol of her dragon call and were going to represent her ritual outcome. Ayra murmured doubtfully, staring at the lotus,

" Elizabeth...I...I think... Something is wrong with Debisa..Why don’t we try different ways? Maybe, we should look for its living place now."
