Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 352: Arielle Is Feeling Dejected
Viscount Ferdi could not help but cry in front of Sasha, who was still hiding behind Arielle’s body. Arielle could feel Sasha’s grip tightening on her dress.
Ronan thought they needed to give Viscount Ferdi and Cathy time to speak to Sasha in private.
"I’ll give you some time to talk. Make the best of it," the man said as he left his chair.
Lazarus joined in, leaving the room. Before he left the door, Ronan glanced at Arielle who looked reluctant. When the girl turned to him, he tilted his chin, giving Arielle a code to leave the room with him.
Tania also gave Crimson to Cathy, who was trembling. Cathy hugged Crimson tightly, and the baby started to cry.
Everyone had left the room, leaving Arielle, who was still tightly held by Sasha. She touched that boy’s hand to put him at ease.
"Sasha... It’s okay. I will leave you for a while."
Sasha shook his head, not wanting Arielle to leave.
"I will go with you," he replied fearfully.
Arielle used more of her strength to release Sasha’s grip from her arm. She smiled briefly to calm him down. Arielle could see the doubt in Sasha’s eyes, but this was for his sake. Sasha was forced to let Arielle go with a heavy heart. He bit his lower lip hard to keep himself from crying.
Arielle came out of the meeting room with a heavy burden on her heart. In front of the room, everyone, including Ronan, was waiting. Ronan didn’t say much, and they walked in silence towards the king’s office.
Kael and Lazarus stayed at the front of the door, waiting for Viscount Ferdi to finish talking to Sasha. When she was in the hallway, Arielle could no longer withhold her sadness.
She covered her face with her palms and started crying. Ronan also told everyone around him to go first. Ronan stepped forward and hugged Arielle to make that girl feel better.
He said nothing, letting Arielle spill all her sadness. Since there seemed to be no sign for her to stop crying, Ronan took the girl into his room.
He put Arielle on his lap and embraced her.
"Hey, let me see your face, Arielle. I want to see you," said Ronan, who tried to lift the girl’s face from his shoulder. Arielle shook her head, still crying.
The man took off his mask and placed it on the table. Slowly, Arielle’s cries began to subside, leaving a few sobs.
"Are you done?"
Once again, she shook her head.
Arielle didn’t know why she was this sad. She had no ties to Sasha or Crimson to keep them from leaving the palace. Viscount Ferdi deserved more to bring them back. After all, Viscount Ferdi had never known about his children’s whereabouts, and he was their father.
So it was not the man’s fault, either. Cathy’s actions were indeed wrong. However, Arielle couldn’t blame her because maybe Cathy had no other choice at that time.
It was just... she had treated Sasha like her own little brother. Crimson too, she had only been with the baby for a few days. Arielle never really had much time with Crimson, but still... It was hard to let them leave.
The time she spent with Sasha in Nieverdell made them get closer. It was engraved in their memories of how they protected each other during their stay in the South.
After her cry subsided, Arielle straightened her body again. Ronan took out a handkerchief and helped the girl wipe her face from the remaining tears.
"This will be for the best, right?" Arielle asked, still feeling dejected.
Ronan nodded. "Viscount Ferdi is their father. We have to trust that man to take good care of his family. Viscount Ferdi may not be a glorious noble, but he has enough money to support his family."
"Sasha will go with them, too?"
"You don’t want Sasha to go home with his family?"
Arielle didn’t answer. She just clenched the hem of her dress. She didn’t know the answer herself. Arielle really liked having Sasha around her, but she also wanted the boy to feel the love of his family.
She had always empathized with Sasha because the two of them had never felt the love of their family. And this was the only chance for Sasha to get that.
Sasha was still very young. Family was one of the things he needed. Maybe Sasha still felt bitter about his situation and his parents. Thus, that boy needed to learn to open his heart. Arielle didn’t want Sasha to grow up like her.
"I agree with letting Sasha and Crimson go back to their parents. That child also needs to learn to open his heart to his family. Sasha has a terrible memory in the orphanage too. And I don’t want Sasha to grow up having a grudge toward his parents."
Ronan nodded in agreement. He was proud of Arielle’s maturity. Even though he knew it was very difficult for Arielle to let Sasha go. The reason she gave was enough to prove that Arielle’s concern for Sasha’s future was bigger than her ego.
"Maybe out there, Sasha will meet more of his peers. In the palace, he only plays with adults," added Arielle, to which Ronan replied with a nod.
The girl rested her head on Ronan’s broad shoulders. "And maybe Sasha can go back to school if he comes to live with Viscount Ferdi."
"Actually, next year when the school starts, I plan to enroll Sasha into the academy. If at that time, we still didn’t know the child’s parents. After your coronation, I will give Sasha the prize for his bravery in Nieverdell. I will award him apprentice knight status and enroll him into the academy. Then, after graduation, he can start doing training as a proper knight," said the man.
"Apprentice knight? I’ve never heard of that?" Arielle asked in confusion.
"That is something new. I promised to give the child a present after we got back."
