Chapter 358: Ronan Is So Busy

"Princess, I heard you want to meet Aimee?"

Arielle nodded in agreement. Kael looked uneasy while scratching his hair.

"But, Princess. My sister is a little wild compared to some of the other noble ladies. I’m afraid... in the future, Aimee will only trouble you. It’s not that I refuse your offer to make my sister a personal assistant. I would be honored if my sister could help you in the future. However... it’s just that, Aimee is a little difficult to control..."

Arielle chuckled. After getting to know Kael, it felt like this was the first time she had seen the man speak so much, though the man looked awkward in front of her.

"Actually, I don’t really need a personal assistant right now. Lucas and Tania are enough for me, but I know after the wedding I have a bigger responsibility. You don’t have to worry, Lord Kael. I will try to befriend your sister first. I won’t force Aimee."

Kael let out a long sigh under his breath. He believed Arielle could definitely be friends with Aimee. It was just... he wasn’t sure his sister could work well. Although people said Aimee had changed, he knew his sister well.

Kael had just come back because he received news that Aimee had returned after running away from home because the girl didn’t want to be betrothed to a man.

He had also passed Ronan’s invitation for Aimee to visit the palace soon. Hopefully, his little sister still had the same respect for Ronan. However, he doubted the girl would act sweetly to William or Lazarus.

Arielle got up while carrying Riel. Before she returned to her room, she wanted to visit Ronan’s office. Arielle bid her goodbye to Kael.

The girl smiled, making Kael blush.

"To be honest, I was really nervous when Ronan said he wanted me to meet someone, but my anxiety turned into a relief when I heard the person is your sister, Lord Kael," Arielle said honestly.

Kael stood up and nodded. "Thank you for the trust, Princess," Kael replied.

"Then, I’ll see Ronan for a bit. Goodbye."

"Ah!" Kael wanted to stop Arielle, but the girl walked speedily while carrying the rabbit.

He wasn’t sure that Arielle could meet Ronan or not right now.

Arielle carried Riel into the palace. She slowed her pace as she walked down the hall to Ronan’s office. She could see something different. The hallway seemed busier than usual. The girl stopped in her place when she saw an old man and a young woman coming out of the room.

Arielle did not know them. The man and woman bowed respectfully to Arielle, and she replied awkwardly. Not until a minute later, two women came out of the room. They were probably the same age as her. Arielle lowered her gaze as the two of them just walked past her.

It was rare to see Ronan had a guest in his office. Arielle was wondering, if that man met so many people at once, why not use the assembly hall instead? Besides, it was already a lunch break. Why hadn’t he rested?

Arielle knocked on the door of the king’s office. Not long after, William came out, and he looked surprised to see the princess in front of the door.

"William, is His Majesty inside?" Arielle asked kindly.

William became a little flustered. He glanced into the room. Then, the man came out and closed the door. Arielle furrowed her brow in confusion at William’s suspicious behavior. Why did he close the door?

"I’m sorry, Princess. But... His Majesty is really busy, and he wished not to be disturbed."

"But now it’s lunch break? Does His Majesty not rest?"

William bit his lip. It was very difficult for him to lie to Arielle. However, this morning Ronan had threatened him, and it was not just an ordinary threat. The man looked very serious when he said it.

With an awkward laugh, William led Arielle and Riel away from Ronan’s office.

"William?" Arielle asked in confusion.

"I’m sorry, Princess, His Majesty really cannot be disturbed right now."

The door to the room opened again. Arielle and William looked back. Ronan just came out of his room. For a moment, the two of them stared at each other. Arielle couldn’t see the man’s face because Ronan was wearing his mask.

"Ro-"

Before Arielle could call his name, Ronan went in the opposite direction, and left the hallway.

"Eh?" Arielle looked up at William while frowning. "He... didn’t see me?"

"I-I think so," William stammered.

Then, William kept his mouth shut. It was obvious that they stared at each other earlier, but Arielle tried to think positively by saying that Ronan didn’t see her.

"Is he that busy?" Arielle asked and William only nodded his head in response.

"Are some people who came out of his office also related to his work?" She asked again.

"They are just a few candidates for your personal assistant if Miss Aimee refused the offer from the king," William replied honestly.

Arielle did not understand. Ronan always said that he would involve Arielle in anything related to her, but the man chose her personal assistant candidate without asking for her opinion? Besides... Ronan seemed to avoid her.

"Your Highness, would you like to return to your room? I will escort you..."

Was this a subtle expulsion? Arielle asked in her heart.

She smiled nicely and shook her head. "I can go back on my own. I already have an appointment with Lord Edmund to study finance."

"Ah, Lord Edmund . . . then allow me to lead you to the front."

Arielle no longer refused William’s request. She left the Blackthorn Palace with complicated feelings. After she arrived at her personal library, Arielle wrote a short message for Ronan and she asked Lucas to deliver it.

However, when Lucas returned with Sir Edmund, Lucas said Ronan had not left her any messages. Arielle brushed it away for now. She had to focus on studying. Maybe Ronan was so busy that he didn’t want to be disturbed.

After Arielle finished her lesson, she wrote a short message about what she learned today and entrusted it to Lucas again. However, when Lucas brought her dinner, he said Ronan didn’t leave any messages either.

Tania could see the worry on the princess’s face. The book on the table was left untouched because the girl was busy daydreaming.
