Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 378: The End Of Full Moon Night
"Did you fall asleep?’ Arielle asked when she found Amadea’s eyelids began to close.
(Are you crazy? And let that bastard wake up again? I still want to smell Cecil’s scent.) It replied sarcastically.
Arielle bent her legs, then hugged her knees for warmth. On a low wooden bench at the end of the room, Ronan’s clothes neatly folded.
"Amadea, are you not cold?" Arielle asked again.
Amadea glanced at Arielle, then got up on its four legs. The wolf moved its body until the furs quivered. Arielle was amazed to see it.
(My furs are much warmer than the thin thing you’re using, Human.)
"Really? May I give it a try?" Arielle really wanted to touch those furs.
The wolf squeaked, ignoring Arielle. Even so, she pressed herself close to the iron bars until some of its fur was sticking out and a gleeful Arielle approached and pressed the side of her body against the furs.
(Think of it as an honor for bringing me Cecil’s scent.)
"Thank you, Amadea"
The wolf growled disapprovingly. (I’m not your friend for you to call my name casually. Call me Your Majesty.)
"Eh, but you’re not a king?"
(I’m a god!) Amadea shouted in Arielle’s head, which was followed by angry barks. Arielle frowned at the noise ringing inside her head.
"Very well, Your Majesty the mighty god of Birwick," Arielle replied while covering her ears.
After Arielle said it, Amadea stopped barking.
(Well, that’s good. At least you know more about manners than Theodore’s descendants.)
"Hey, Amadea."
(God of Birwick.) Amadea quickly corrected Arielle’s words, and Arielle just chuckled. (There’s nothing funny.)
"I’m sorry," Arielle replied, biting her lip to hold back her laugh. "God of Birwick, what exactly is going on inside your body? Are you and Ronan two different people? Why do you two seem to talk like two different people?"
Otis said that long ago, Amadea cursed the descendants of the first king of Northendell by inserting a part of himself into the body of the king’s offspring. Then, did it mean Amadea had been in the body of the king’s descendants for generations in the same way?
(No, this is just a part of my self consciousness. I put down my hatred by making him like myself, a wolf. But those bodies completely belong to them)
Arielle still didn’t understand what the wolf meant. "Does that mean if the wolf’s body is injured, Ronan will be injured too?"
(I already said it was just my consciousness here. Of course, if I banged this wolf’s head until it broke, then that bastard’s head would also break. How could you not understand something so simple like that? What a stupid human!)
Arielle was silent. The words that Amadea used were very harsh. The girl kept her distance, making Amadea turn around because it felt the body leaning on it disappear.
"Sorry," Arielle muttered.
She asked too many questions. Arielle felt ashamed and stupid when she was insulted like that. She also knew that she was slow to grasp the information. Arielle turned her back to the wolf so that Amadea wouldn’t see the tears that fell down her cheeks. She didn’t want Amadea to make fun of her even more because she couldn’t accept the insult again.
The night was still very long. And it seemed Amadea was also not interested in talking like before. Every time Amadea called her by names or nicknames like, "Hey, human child", "Hey, stupid", "Hey, are you deaf?’ and so on, she didn’t respond. Arielle pretended to be asleep while hiding her face between her knees.
(You sleep? What a Human.) Amadea said for the last time.
Arielle didn’t have to look back to know that the wolf hadn’t fallen asleep. Throughout the night, Amadea sniffed the mortar Arielle brought.
For the first time in hundreds of years, that night, the wolf no longer howled or barked. Even as morning came or Arielle fell asleep by its side, the wolf no longer went on a rampage.
Ronan slowly regained his senses. He saw the wolf in front of him, who looked indifferent.
"Can I wake up now?" he asked.
"Shut up, or I’ll put you to sleep again," Amedea threatened him while baring its fangs.
The endless white space slowly became a blur. Then, he saw the iron bars in front of him as well as the laterite walls that had confined him all night long. His head ached badly that he felt like it had been hit so hard a few times.
Ronan touched his wet head as he saw a red liquid sticking on his palm.
"Ronan!" Arielle called from outside the bars.
William hurried to open the lock and chain that surrounded the iron cage. A doctor came to him. He frowned at seeing Arielle’s presence.
"What are you doing here? You’re not hiding?" he asked in confusion.
Instantly, a flash of memory vaguely struck him. Ronan blinked in confusion. This was the first time for him to gain a bit of consciousness in the midst of his transformation on a full moon night.
"We have to hurry to take care of the wounds," the doctor said.
William and Lazarus covered Ronan’s naked body. The man no longer had a fever. There was no sign that he was sick, only his head was injured. It might be because of the impact when the wolf banged its head on the iron bars last night.
Ronan received intensive treatment, while Arielle was faithfully waiting for him near the door of the room where the man was being treated.
"Princess, what exactly happened last night?" William asked, who was also waiting at the door.
"Nothing happened," Arielle replied, averting her eyes so William wouldn’t know that she was lying. Otis said not to tell the others about what happened in her dream last night.
William knew well that the princess was keeping a secret. He just nodded his head. He didn’t want to force the princess. Last night, William and the others discussed this with Priest Elis while standing on guard at the door of the basement room where Ronan was locked up. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Priest Elis didn’t have a definite answer. He only said that one of the Moon Goddess’ powers was to communicate with the surrounding animals. After Arielle’s power had been unlocked, which was indicated by the colour of her irises turning blue, it might be that the girl had some instinct to calm the raging wolf.
Priest Elis also said about Arielle who was always close to animals before she unlocked her power, or the way Arielle interacted with the king’s wolf last night.
William, Kael, and Lazarus almost gave up last night before Arielle arrived. William’s heart broke at the thought that he had to point his sword at his own best friend if in the worst case, Ronan broke the iron cage. William was relieved and grateful when Arielle came, and they spent the rest of the night at peace.
However, last night’s incident had an impact on Ronan’s human body. His head was injured. William couldn’t imagine having to see Ronan hurt again next month. He wanted all of this to be over soon...
