Chapter 417: One Week Before Wedding

William and Lazarus concluded that the incident was a form of robbery because the chapel storage room had been broken into and the storage room’s iron door collapsed to the ground alternately. The chapel workers were checking for any missing items. Ronan immediately gave an order to repair the storage room before the wedding day.

Arielle and Aimee distributed all the food and souvenirs that Lazarus and William had bought for the children in the chapel. They were ready to return to the palace. Ronan was waiting in the distance because he couldn’t show himself in front of the children.

Arielle and Aimee got back into the carriage, and they were escorted off by the chapel children who shouted thank you for the foods and souvenirs the princess had bought for them.

Ronan wrinkled his nose at the familiar scent of a rose he had just sniffed. On the road through the trees, Ronan drew closer to William.

William, who was slightly frightened by Ronan’s wolf form, stopped his horse because the wolf continued to circle around his horse

"What’s wrong?" he asked.

Ronan couldn’t answer. The carriage that was pulling Aimee and Arielle also stopped and Arielle rushed down to calm Ronan, who was biting William’s robe.

"What is it?" Arielle asked Ronan, who didn’t want to let go of his bite. Lazarus also approached William, who was trying to tug on his robe.

(I smell the mysterious person from William’s body)

"Mysterious person?"

(Yes. The person who entered the backyard of the chapel)

"Take off William’s coat. He’s in pain, Ronan," said Arielle while holding Ronan’s mouth. And Ronan let go of his bite, causing William to fall backwards.

"What is this!?" asked William, who did not understand the reason Ronan attacked him.

"William, Ronan said you had the same scent as the mysterious person who broke into the backyard of the chapel earlier."

"Huh? Me? I didn’t do anything. I went to the village to buy the souvenirs for the choir children and waited for Aimee and Lazarus to return together to the chapel. How could you accuse me of getting into the chapel in such a strange way?"

(I’m not accusing you! You just happen to have the same scent of rose in my mother’s grave!) Ronan shouted, barking in annoyance. Arielle held her ear while asking Ronan to calm down.

"He’s not trying to accuse you. Ronan said you have the same rose scent as that person left on his mother’s grave," Arielle said, delivering the message from Ronan with more calm manner than the king himself.

"Rose?" Wait a minute..." William took off his coat and reached into his coat pocket in front of his chest.

William took out a red rose, which was still very fresh.

(It has the same scent!)

"Ronan said it has the same scent."

"I got it from a little florist who happened to eat with me at a restaurant. Because she was alone, I paid for her food and she gave me this flower in return," William replied honestly.

"A little girl?"

"Yeah, she’s taller than Sasha. Maybe around twelve years old. She said she came from Mount Birwick and was waiting for her father, who met with a priest."

Ronan thought for a moment. Was this just a coincidence or was the child the daughter of the man who stole in his mother’s chapel storage room?

Arielle shuddered as the wind blew hard because it was starting to feel cold. Ronan who realized this, told Arielle to get back on the carriage to continue their journey to the palace. Lazarus led the group again at the front, and William guarded the back while Ronan followed in the back row.

***

William and Ronan discussed yesterday’s incident again, but they couldn’t come up with a single plausible possibility because there had been no report of the missing item in the chapel’s storage room.

Arielle had just finished the meeting with the person responsible for the wedding decorations. Tania and Aimee assisted Arielle in choosing many types of the decorations. In the evening, as usual, Ronan visited Arielle’s room to invite her to have dinner together.

The days passed by, and the royal wedding of the king with the princess from the South would take place in less than a week. The happy news had spread throughout the kingdom. Although the wedding would be held privately, the citizens of Northendell’s enthusiasm were very high.

The capital was flooded with people who wanted to see the parade of the royal couple from the chapel where they had their wedding, to the palace. Besides, there were also some people who stayed longer to see the queen’s coronation ceremony.

Arielle and Ronan were also getting busy with their own business. Even so, both of them would take the time to share a hug or a kiss or two to erase each other’s tiredness and longing.

Ronan was looking at the three crowns in front of him. On his lap was Riel, which was curled up while sleeping soundly and the rest bunnies were scattered around his office.

This morning, Arielle said she would visit the chapel again to see the progress of the decorations. Ronan couldn’t come because of his job, so Ronan assigned Kael, Lazarus, and Aimee to take care of Arielle.

Since last week, there had been no reports of loss in the chapel storage room. Ronan also strengthened the guard in the chapel until his wedding day. He didn’t want any more disturbances. So far, everything was going according to his plan.

In front of him, there were three types of crowns. One was the crown of a queen, used for generations for the coronation of Arielle, a formal crown for Arielle’s coronation, and a large crown with a heavy red velvet fabric. The crown was a sign of the queen’s power, a smaller version of the one Ronan had. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

The second crown was made of gold. It was thinner and shorter than Ronan’s. It had many rubies surrounding the gold crown carving. Besides, Arielle’s gold crown had a slight difference. On both sides of the crown, hung a thin gold chain adorned with several rubies. If Arielle wore it, she would look very beautiful because the gold and red colors would look sparkling on Arielle’s white hair.

And the last was a personal tiara that Ronan had made for Arielle. It was a tiara that Arielle would use for her own activities without him accompanying the girl. Ronan held it in his hand and touched the sky blue gem gently.

At first, Ronan had a hard time finding the right color for Arielle. He knew red looked great on Arielle, but Ronan wanted Arielle to appreciate her new eyes color too.

It took Ronan a full night to choose the color blue. He wanted to find a blue color similar to Arielle’s eyes color, but he couldn’t. So, Ronan chose a sky blue gem that was closest to it.

Arielle’s eye color was very special. It had a soft blue color, sparkling like a clear sky without fog. Every time Ronan saw it, Ronan felt a sense of peacefulness. However, Arielle still didn’t seem to have fully accepted the change in her eyes.

Arielle might not realize it. However, Ronan, who always watched Arielle carefully, could see the girl, who sometimes looked at her reflection in the mirror a little longer than usual. Arielle hardly ever looked into the mirror, so she rarely saw her own face compared to Ronan, who always looked at Arielle’s face to admire it.

Besides, the simple tiara still looked elegant, like Arielle’s simple and friendly personality. Ronan couldn’t wait to give them and saw Arielle use them.

Tomorrow was the day that Arielle would be painted. Usually, a new queen would get a portrait of herself after her coronation. However, Ronan wished differently. He wanted a large portrait of Arielle in the coronation hall hung beside his, so everyone could see how majestic Arielle was.

Especially when Archie visited Northendell later. Ronan wanted to prove to the man that the little sister he had abandoned was something Ronan would never let go of because the crown of the North had been placed on the girl’s head.

Ronan told William to keep the crown again. After obtaining his approval, the two crowns and one tiara would be placed in a special storage room. And now, it was Ronan’s turn to meet Miss Dressrosa.

Miss Dressrosa brought her male assistant to do the final fitting on Ronan’s tuxedo. Miss Dressrosa was only willing to touch women. Thus, she brought an assistant to deal with the king.
