Chapter 463: Helping Others

Arielle stood beside Ronan as Ronan introduced her to some people in the village as his wife. Ronan continued to keep Arielle by his side. The village of Birwick was now empty because all of its inhabitants had been evacuated to the neighboring village. Usually, this condition made the bandits come to carry out looting of abandoned houses and facilities.

Ronan continued to monitor the ground movement, and it looked like there wouldn’t be an earthquake again. Some of the knights were helped by the Birwick Village men scanning the part of the village that was covered by the dirt and snow. They tried to find the victims who could not save themselves, or maybe the victims who were still alive and needed their help.

After making sure everyone was working, Ronan invited Arielle to visit the next village to distribute all the items that Arielle had brought. It didn’t take long for them to arrive at the next village. The village had a high fence that was almost the same as the previous village.

The refugees immediately ran when they saw the wagon carrying many things they needed. William immediately ordered the knights to guard their wagon and ordered the residents who had swarmed in front of the wagon to queue up.

Seeing people scrambling to receive a warm blanket made Arielle’s heart squeezed very hard by invisible ropes. She couldn’t bear to see the little child who was being carried by his mother pressed as they jostled to pick up the blankets and warm clothes that were distributed by the knights.

Even the presence of the king and his wife was ignored. They were freezing to death, and they had no time to greet the royal family formally. For them, food and warm clothes were the only things they needed right now. Formal attitude could not make them full and warm.

"Arielle!" Ronan called.

Arielle rushed to run, then held a grandmother who was pushed back. And they both fell into the snow. Fortunately, Arielle immediately held the grandmother. Otherwise, the grandmother would fall and then be trampled there.

"Are you all right?" Arielle asked.

"The ... blanket ... my grandson needs a blanket ..." Arielle wanted to get up to help the grandmother to stand back up. However, before she had a chance to do so, a pair of hands suddenly grabbed her hands from behind and lifted her body to stand up again.

Ronan pulled Arielle’s hand back to her feet. His jaw clenched tightly, holding back his anger to see his wife was pushed down, while the people who had pushed her didn’t even glance back. They were too busy to pay attention to the others.

"EVERYONE BE QUIET!!!" shouted Ronan, which echoed throughout the place.

Instantly, everyone fell silent. The screaming and looting carried out by the citizens stopped in place.

"Ronan, I’m okay," the girl said, trying to calm her husband who was angry because she fell.

"All of you step back from the wagon and queue up like humans with brains!" he shouted again.

The knights, who were struggling to push the citizens away from the wagon let out a sigh of relief as they all retreated in an orderly fashion. William could manage the citizens easily. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

Some of them paved the way for Arielle and Ronan to step forward. Arielle also led the grandmother who had fallen earlier to come with her. She then turned to Ronan.

"May I speak for a moment?" Arielle asked.

Ronan nodded, giving permission for Arielle to say what she wanted to convey to the citizens.

"Good morning everyone. You don’t have to worry. I had brought quite a lot of clothes and a warm blanket today. So, you can queue so that everyone gets their share. I also brought a lot of crystals filled with mana for you to use. And one more, please give the chance for the old grandparents, injured people, and pregnant women to get their share first... I promise that everyone will get their share."

Everyone was silent, making Arielle a little awkward speaking in front of the crowd. They glanced at the king who just stood still. However, a sharp glance from behind the black mask the man was wearing frightened them.

"Can you all do that?" Arielle asked gently.

A young man then told the healthier men to back off and gave all the elderly the opportunity to queue first. After getting more space, several knights lowered the chests from the top of each wagon.

Arielle helped by giving blankets to the citizens. After getting blankets, there were knights who helped distribute warm clothes, then they walked to get food supplies that had been distributed. Finally, Namina and Aimee helped distribute one mana crystal for one person.

"Thank you ...." said the grandmother that Arielle helped earlier. Arielle just smiled and offered her handkerchief to wipe the rest of the grandmother’s tears.

"Thank you, Your Majesty the Queen..."

"I haven’t-"

"Yes, she is your queen! And respect her every word!" William exclaimed from the top of the wagon with a big smile on his face. Ronan just stood to the side, watching everyone get their rations one by one.

It turned out that quite a lot of victims were evacuated with a total of two hundred houses damaged. There were more than four hundred people who needed help. Luckily, Arielle brought more supplies. They collected over two hundred clothes and warm blankets from the palace workers, then took the rest from the inventory that was no longer used.

A mother holding her toddler had a hard time calming her crying child.

"Is the child fine?" Arielle asked, then gave the mother a warm blanket.

"I don’t know, Your Majesty... but my son has had a fever since last night and it hasn’t gone down."

"Wait a minute..."

Arielle climbed onto one of the wagons and opened the sack where Sasha’s toys were. She took out an animal doll in the shape of a tiger and gave it to the child. The child received the toy from Arielle, but he was still crying.
