Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 505: The Uncertainty
Day after day, the cold temperature of Nothendell was getting out of control. The reports of deaths increased as the temperatures became colder. The priests were also getting more and more difficult because the citizens’ demand was getting higher, and they were finding it difficult to fulfill every request.
Several people were crying pleadingly in front of the palace, asking Arielle to come out right away and revive their family who had frozen to death. They wanted Arielle to bring them back to life like the girl had done to the people at Birwick. They kept begging until they forgot that they also needed warmth. Then, one or two people died again.
The palace was in a state of confusion. The king didn’t show his face. The work was only done minimally, and Kael, William, and Lazarus did the rest. The palace also did not open its gate to invite the citizens as usual. Ronan wasn’t in the right mind to hear the grievances of his people. So, William decided that the monthly agenda was postponed.
The day continued to pass by until the moon changed, and tomorrow was the night of the full moon.
For the first time, Ronan showed the bridge of his nose. Aimee who saw the condition of the king that was about to be moved to the underground was shocked. Ronan’s eyes were empty, his hair long, with a mustache and beard that was starting to grow.
"What happened?" Aimee asked Lazarus.
"Do not ask. We don’t know either," replied Lazarus, who looked at his friend dejectedly.

The night of the full moon would come soon. Kael, William, and Lazarus were discussing what they should do with Ronan. The man had been acting strange for almost three weeks. Ronan didn’t hear William’s, Kael’s, or Lazarus’ calls at all. Even when Priest Louise wanted to ask about the king’s condition, he was simply kicked out.
There wasn’t a single piece of information they could get. The three of them suspect that it was related to Arielle’s whereabouts. They had known about the mate bond between Arielle and Ronan. Ronan told them everything. Sometimes, when they were discussing something and Ronan suddenly stood alone, the three of them knew that the man was talking to Arielle.
The last thing Ronan said about Arielle was that she would be back soon with various messages that the man was sending one by one. However, exactly three weeks ago, everything turned upside down. Ronan became unapproachable. Every given meal ended up untouched, and the man grew thinner.
Once, William visited Ronan who still remained silent in front of Arielle’s painting. The man fell asleep for who knew how many days of not sleeping and eating. Then, he found a dagger with blood beside Ronan’s body. Fortunately, when William checked the man’s condition, there were no wounds, but he was still very suspicious of where the bloody dagger came from.
William also deliberately replaced all alcoholic drinks with a row of glasses of water. The drunk Ronan drank whatever was available without a second thought.
Until now, Ronan hadn’t shown any reaction at all. The man was like an undead. Even when William and Kael moved him to the underground floor of the cathedral, Ronan didn’t show any resistance or speak a word.
The man simply stood up and followed after William and Kael.
"Are you sure this is related to Princess Arielle?" Lazarus asked.
William turned to Ronan who was behind the bars.
"I’m pretty sure," William replied. "Ronan said that at that time he entered a portal that looked like it was in another dimension. He said it was very much different from Birwick Mountain, right? But, Ronan didn’t explain how he got in. Was there a second chance for Ronan to enter the portal again? If we can get in—"
"William, that’s impossible," Kael cut in.
"What do you mean?"
"Let’s be real. We are nothing. We have no connection whatsoever with the entities living on Birwick Mountain. What we are going to do is just in vain," Kael explained.
Lazarus agreed with what Kael had said. They didn’t even know what was behind the darkness of Birwick Mountain. The deepest part they visited was the dragon’s lair, and it was only Ronan and Kael who could get there.
Besides, the night of the full moon was only one day left. What would happen if they left Ronan alone? Or how did they get Ronan out to Birwick Mountain? On the full moon last month, they were almost overwhelmed to defeat Ronan on the riverside, and many soldiers were seriously injured by the attack.
Birwick Mountain was too dangerous, especially because the temperature had dropped drastically in an unnatural way lately. Kael and Lazarus weren’t sure the other knights would last long. Even with the warmth of the palace and the help from the doctors and priests, many knights suddenly fell ill.
And who was crazy enough willing to go there? William? No way, he was needed more in the palace because Ronan was unable to do anything right now. Lazarus? Lazarus was more skilled at fighting over the ocean. The plains and mountains were difficult terrain for him. Kael? Only Kael could guard Ronan. However, what about the attacks from the outside?
They were on alert and couldn’t leave the palace now. Usually, if Ronan was out, Kael would be in charge of guarding the palace and the capital. When Kael got the task of going out? Ronan would be in the palace.
The two of them were the two strongest people in Northendell, and each had their own duties. When one was in a state of being unable to do anything like Ronan was right now, there would be an imbalance. Thus, the four of them must always stay together in difficult conditions like this.
"I thought it would be a good idea if we waited until the full moon night had passed. Ronan will transform into a wolf, right? That will tire him out, so let’s put Ronan to rest. After his condition is better, we can try to approach him again to discuss this situation," Kael said, and William accepted with a nod of his head.
