Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 506: Ronan Doesn’t Change To Wolf On Full Moon
Ronan rubbed his face, making the three people who were discussing in front of the bonfire turn their heads towards the iron bars. His red eyes stared at the fire that was burning in front of William.
Ronan was puzzled. He needed silence. Maybe all this time he had not really listened to Arielle’s call. Ronan wanted to hear his wife’s voice. The last time Arielle called him seemed so long ago. It was from the moment Arielle cut off communication in a panicked and worried tone, Ronan could no longer hear the girl’s voice again.
Ronan closed his eyes, waiting for a glimmer of hope to hear his wife’s call again.
Days turned again, and Ronan suddenly felt very dizzy. The man held his throbbing head. His breath also became ragged and his body was burning.
"Water..." Ronan said, while clutching his burning neck.
"Ronan! Are you okay?" William asked frantically when seeing Ronan in pain.
BRUK!
Ronan’s body fell to the ground. His face was red with hot breath. His throat hurt so much. It felt like it was being wrapped around by iron and hot flames. William hurriedly opened the iron bars and gave Ronan water. He was surprised when he found the man’s body that felt very hot like it was burning.
"Please... Arielle... it hurts...." Ronan mumbled while clutching his neck.
Lazarus and Kael determinedly held the man’s hands and pinned Ronan’s legs to stop them from moving. William poured water into Ronan’s mouth again, and the man was still grimacing in pain. Priest Elis who was also on standby tried to absorb the heat in the king’s body.
However, no matter how long Priest Elis absorbed the heat, Ronan still screamed in pain.
"The chains!" Kael shouted, while pressing Ronan’s arms with his knee. William kept pouring water, while Priest Elis asked Priest Jill to help him absorb the heat emanating from the king’s body.
Several guards arrived with iron chains. Lazarus frowned, but he had no other choice, as Ronan was also getting more and more difficult to control. Ronan kept calling Arielle, water, hot, and the word please....
William, who ran out of ideas, took a wooden basin and a pile of snow outside and splashed it on Ronan’s body. However, the snow was instantly turned into water by Ronan’s body heat. Now, the man had been chained. Priest Elis summoned more priests to absorb the king’s heat.
The heat was like an unquenchable source of flames. Ronan kept screaming in pain. William ran back to get more snow, but when he looked up, he saw the sky was already dark.
"It’s already night?"
He looked back and heard no howl of a wolf. "Ronan?"
After filling the basin with snow, William ran back into the basement and saw Ronan still in his human form while screaming in pain because of the heat. The man fell to the floor while covering his mouth, causing Lazarus and Kael who were cleaning Ronan’s wet body to turn to William.
"What’s wrong?"
"It’s full moon night, and Ronan... hasn’t transformed into a wolf yet," William muttered in his place. He was still shocked.
Everyone was silent for a moment and saw the body of the king who was still in his human form. Kael took out his pocket watch to check the time. Ronan usually had transformed from an hour ago.
"Arrgh.... It hurts... It’s hot..." Ronan screamed, causing everyone who was shocked to retreat from the iron bars right away. They were worried that the king’s transformation was delayed, and Ronan would turn into a wolf in a few seconds.
However, they still waited in silence for a long time while watching Ronan scream in pain with his hands and feet chained. Lazarus fell to the ground, holding his friend’s neck, which felt very hot.
His eyes met Ronan’s now teary eyes. "Lazarus... it hurts... help me...."
"Ronan..."
"What are you guys doing?! Lower the king’s body temperature now!" Kael shouted to the frightened priests.
Priest Elis ordered the other priests to lower the temperature of the king’s body again, but no matter how much the priest absorbed the heat from the body, Ronan still screamed in pain. William asked what Ronan wanted.
"Water.. Arielle... I need Arielle..."
Arielle wasn’t here at the moment, so William ordered the maids to bring more water and cold snow. They put a lot of snow on Ronan’s body to help reduce the heat, but every snow that touched the man’s skin only took three seconds to melt into water.
The dirt floor used by them became dirty and muddy due to the snow water on the ground.
"We have to take him to a cleaner place," William said, but Kael stopped him.
"But, it’s still a full moon. We don’t know when Ronan will transform into a wolf."
"Ronan won’t transform into a wolf," William replied.
"William, there will be many lives at risk. This might just be an anomaly!"
William could understand Kael’s concern. The man must have thought of the many lives that were hiding behind the palace walls, as well as the citizens in the settlements. At worst, if Ronan was released from the chains and bars now and he turned into a wolf later, then nothing could stop him.
They didn’t want the incident thirteen years ago to happen again. Kael certainly had the same fear. Because he was one of the people who witnessed how the previous king was killed by his own knights and burned for causing mischief. Of course, Kael didn’t want that to happen again.
If Ronan stayed in chains here and the man transformed into a wolf, they still had time to lock Ronan in the iron bars and flee the priests to a safe place .
However, this place really wasn’t decent. Ronan’s body was covered in mud. The man must be uncomfortable, and William couldn’t bear to see his best friend in this condition.
"Where are the doctors?! Damn! I called them a long time ago!" cried William in frustration at the sight of the two fallen priests exhausted from absorbing too much heat from the king. Priest Elis still looked strong and so did Priest Jill.
Lazarus ran to drag the doctor who took so long to arrive.
He passed a man with a mustache carrying a bag containing his doctor’s equipment.
"You! Where have you been!? The king is waiting!" shouted Lazarus, while dragging the doctor to run faster towards the basement.
"I’m sorry, Lord Lazarus. The anesthetic is running out because it’s needed a lot lately," replied the man. He felt sorry that he couldn’t find an additional supply of anesthetic, making his arrival very late.
"Haish! Do your job immediately!"
A priest stepped aside to make room for the doctor that had just arrived. Ronan was still writhing and trying to get out of the iron cage. The doctor issued an injection that was twice as large as usual. With everyone’s permission, the doctor cleaned the king’s arm and then injected a double dose of anesthetic.
Ronan still screamed in pain. But within minutes, Ronan had fallen asleep, with body still as hot as a smoldering flames.
