Magus Supremacy-Chapter 895: Painful Reunion (2)
Chapter 895
"Where? Where have you been all these months, brother?! Why didn’t you come and fetch me? Did you know how much I missed you? I was scared every night... afraid for my life. I have cried myself to sleep every night hoping that one day... one day, mum or you will come get me. But nobody came! Nobody...." Jesse screamed mid sob as tears poured down like a tap unleashed.
Snot was dripping down her nose as she kept sniffling while wailing like someone who had lost her relative or something.
Tears were also trickling down the mage’s face. The way he was feeling at the moment couldn’t even be explained.
It was like a heavy burden, a heavy weight had just been lifted off his chest.
The weight of pain... weight of death had just been eased of his chest.
Seeing someone he once called family, seeing a family member even if adopted, warmed his heart massively.
He thought that with his mother dead, he had lost all connections to the past Dawn family. But here- here Jesse stood.
Alive and well.
He wrapped his hands tightly around the girl’s body, conscious of his own strength while sobbing.
"I’m sorry Jesse. I’m so sorry. I-I-I have been a bad brother, I know. I should have come get you. I-I-I abandoned you all alone. I’m really sorry Jesse, please-please forgive your brother." Grey cried into her back.
His tears wetting the girl’s clothes.
Jesse lifted her head from his shoulder and then looked up at the mage. The tears, the pained expression in his eyes. She stared at them all.
Then sniffling once more, she lifted her hands and wiped the tears from the mage’s face while smiling.
"You are forgiven."
Grey smiled back. Tears still dropping down his face when a loud groan was heard from below.
Turning his gaze downward, he could see Licht still coughing. The once powerful leader of the elven community was reduced to a mere shallow form of his self.
Bleeding from multiple places.
"Fa- Father, stay with me. Stay with me. I-I can heal you. Just give me a moment." Elara frantically shouted out as she lifted her hand into the air.
Rumbling sounds could be heard causing Grey to turn around with Jesse still in his arms. Vines could be seen shooting out from the destroyed mansion Licht had emerged from.
She was about to direct them towards the elven leader only for her hand to be grabbed by Licht.
"Cough, cough... everything happens for a reason dear. After you left, I-I always wondered why I let you leave. Months passed, I didn’t see you. Months turned into years and I regretted allowing you leave with Grey.
But now... cough, cough. Now I see that it was to prevent all the elves from perishing. If you had been here, you would have met the same fate as the rest of us."
Licht paused for a moment as he stared at Elara’s quivering lips and then her trembling hand.
"... I wouldn’t want you to feel bad for what happened here today. It was inevitable. I won’t say you shouldn’t mourn us but don’t let it weigh you down. I-I can feel how much stronger you are compared to when you left here. Same with you," the elf said as he lightly turned his head in Grey’s direction.
The vines Elara called upon were hovering above them ready to descend on Licht in order to heal him.
"The amount of energy, raw power I’m picking off from you, is too much. Yo–It’s obvious that you are no longer the naive, annoying and rude kid that let strength get to his head anymore. Yo-You are more powerful, more mature and different."
Licht smiled before increasing his grip on Elara’s hand and then she could feel something coursing through her at an astonishing speed.
"Wh-What are you doing?!"
The elf smiled. Blood streaming down his lips.
"I could have chosen to heal myself if I wanted to. My magic allows me to do that but I-I don’t want to. There’s nothing to live for anymore."
"You have me!" Elara thundered loudly.
Licht just shook his head continuing to pour his remaining mana into the young elf beside him.
Grey just remained silent while staring at this exchange. There was absolutely nothing he could do than keep sensing the dwindling energy leaving the man’s body.
Quickly yanking her hand away from Licht’s grasp, Elara swung her hand down with the vines rushing forward to heal the elf but it was too late.
Licht’s hand grew limp and fell to his side. Breathing seizing as he turned his head to look in Grey’s direction.
"Ta-Ta...huuuu...take care of her."
Grey nodded with his eyes closed as he made a small bow in the elf’s direction.
"I will. Thank you for protecting my sister. May your soul be blessed."
Licht smiled as the vines reached his body but it was too late. His eyelids froze in place same with the smile on his face.
No breath remained in his body as he grew still too.
The powerful elven leader was dead; Licht was gone!
"NOOOOOOO! YOU CAN’T LEAVE ME THIS WAY! WAKE UP!" Elara bellowed loudly as she collapsed onto her father’s body, crying while pouring mana into the vines, trying to heal the elf but it was of no use.
Jesse on seeing this, turned her face away; burying it into Grey’s body while sobbing loudly.
The Supreme Magus remained unmoving as he gazed at this scene. Heart churning angrily at this.
’How much more will they take from me? How much more death will I have to witness? How many more people will be taken away from me?’ Grey snarled inwardly as his knuckles whitened in an instant with how hard he was squeezing them.
’... Enough is enough. It’s time I strike back... hard!’
The moment he finished that declaration, the forest rustled loudly causing the mage to spin around to glare in the direction of the forest.
’Someone is coming.’
Lightning arced around his palm which he proceeded to point in the direction of the forest.
Waiting, eyes fixed, ready to attack who or whatever was coming.
Not until,
The figure walked out causing the lightning surrounding the mage’s hand to die down immediately as a shocked look appeared on his face.
"Ca-Ca-Captain Amir?!"
Hearing his name, the figure turned to look up at the giant tree where a red haired figure stood with a stupefied look on his face.
Seeing him, the man’s eyes widened like one who had just seen a ghost.
"Grey Dawn?!"
