Chapter 97: Eira’s Night Out

In front of the mirror, while smoothing the fabric of her dress, Eira was glancing at herself.

It was short, black, and fitted—flattering without being too much.

She moved her head up fully, looking at her reflection with a small smile.

Tonight was about stepping out of her comfort zone, doing something for herself for a change.

"Where are you going?"

Eira turned to see him standing in the doorway, arms crossed as usual.

He looked relaxed, but she could tell from the way his eyes scanned her dress that he wasn’t pleased.

"I told you. Sana invited me out."

Callian’s brow furrowed. "Out where?"

Eira grabbed her clutch from the dresser. "A club. She thought it’d be fun to unwind for a bit."

"Are you going to be drinking?"

Eira raised an eyebrow at his tone. "No, I’m not planning to. I just want to enjoy myself for a night, Callian. That’s all."

Callian’s eyes didn’t leave her. "I don’t like the idea of you going to a club. Especially dressed like that."

Eira smirked, gesturing to her dress. "What’s wrong with what I’m wearing?"

"It’s short," he said bluntly.

"It’s elegant," Eira countered.

Callian let out a sharp breath; he didn’t even bother to hide his furrowed eyebrows anymore. "I don’t see why you need to go. Sana can come here if you want to catch up."

Eira tilted her head, her smile softened. "Callian, I appreciate your concern, but I’m going. I need this."

He stared at her for a moment in a heavy silence.

Finally, he relented with a tight nod. "Fine. Go. But if anything happens, you call me immediately. Understand?"

Eira’s smile widened. She stepped forward, placing a hand on his chest. "I promise. I’ll be fine. Thank you."

Callian’s expression didn’t change.

His eyes lingered on her, seemingly with something between protectiveness and possessiveness.

"I mean it, Eira," he said firmly. "No drinking. No trouble."

"Got it," she said, brushing past him and heading to the door.

The club pulsed with energy, flashing lights, and pounding bass that vibrated through the walls.

Eira and Sana walked in together, drawing attention immediately.

Sana looked stunning in a deep emerald-green dress that hugged her figure and complemented her beautiful, rich, darker skin.

Her curly hair was styled in a high puff, accentuating her striking features.

She wore bold gold earrings and a matching bracelet that caught the light as she moved.

"You look amazing," Eira told her, raising her voice over the music.

"So do you!" Sana replied with a grin. She gestured to Eira’s dress. "That’s killer, girl. No wonder everyone’s staring." freēwēbηovel.c૦m

Eira laughed, glancing around. She wasn’t used to this kind of attention, but tonight, she didn’t mind.

They made their way to the bar, where Sana ordered two shots.

"None for me," Eira said quickly.

Sana raised an eyebrow. "Come on, just one. You’re here to have fun, right?"

Eira hesitated but shook her head. "I promised Callian I wouldn’t drink."

Sana rolled her eyes. "Oh, please. What he doesn’t know won’t hurt him."

Eira gave her a look. "Sana..."

"Fine, fine," Sana said, throwing back her shot with a dramatic sigh. "You’re no fun. But at least dance with me, okay?"

Eira laughed, letting Sana pull her toward the dance floor.

Back at the penthouse, Callian paced the living room with his phone in hand.

He scrolled through emails, trying to distract himself, but his thoughts kept going back to Eira.

The image of her in that dress, surrounded by strangers in a club, made his chest tighten.

He didn’t like not being there, not knowing what was happening.

"Relax," he muttered to himself. "She said she’d be fine."

But the unease didn’t go away.

On the dance floor, Eira felt lighter than she had in years.

The music, the movement, the carefree energy around her—it was exactly what she needed.

Sana twirled her under the flashing lights, laughing. "See? Isn’t this better than sitting at home?"

Eira nodded. "You might be right."

Sana grabbed her wrist, pulling her back toward the bar. "And now, to celebrate, another shot!"

"Sana—"

"No excuses," Sana interrupted, handing Eira a small glass.

Eira hesitated, glancing at the amber liquid.

"It’s one drink," Sana said, rolling her eyes. "Live a little."

Eira sighed, lifting the glass to her lips.

But just as she was about to take a sip, her phone buzzed in her clutch.

She set the glass down and pulled out her phone.

"Callian?" Sana asked, smirking.

Eira didn’t answer, glancing at the screen.

The message was simple: -Having fun?-

Her chest tightened slightly, but she quickly typed back: -Yes. All good here. See you later.-

She slipped the phone back into her clutch, ignoring Sana’s teasing grin.

"No shot for you?" Sana teased.

"Not tonight," Eira said with a laugh.

"Your loss," Sana replied, tossing back her own drink.

Eira smiled, watching her friend. For the first time in a long while, she felt like herself again—free, alive.

What she didn’t see was the person across the room, hidden in the shadows, watching her every move.

"Okay, now, drink with me another one!"

"No, Callian—"

"Is not here. Yes!"

"Sana... I’ve never tried alcohol."

"So, that’s why you should drink it with me. I have strong tolerance and will watch after you if anything."

"Okay... but maybe not a shot, and something lighter instead...?"

"How lighter?"

Eira glanced around. "Alcohol-free?"

Sana rolled her eyes. "Are you serious telling this to me? I will get you a drink."

Sana leaned closer to a bartender and whispered something to him; he then immediately looked at Eira and nodded.

"Okay. He will make you a light cocktail."

"Did he say that?"

"He has no other choice!"

While Eira was looking at the bartender’s moves, she couldn’t ignore a couple of guys standing next to her.

"Hey. Baby! Wanna dance?" one man asked boldly.

"No, thank you. I’m married."

"Come on! Just one dance, please."

"I told you no—"

She was cut off by the man’s bold decision.
