Mated To The Demon Prince-Chapter 35: Three Stars
Evangeline just stood there like a fool not knowing what to do or say to this. Everyone smiled warmly, except for the three men seated near the Alpha King at the table’s edge. While her mom beamed at her, their faces twisted with clear disgust.
They treated her like she was some superstar or A-list celebrity in this world.
Though it caught her off-guard at the extent in which she was loved and admired in this world but a sleeping part of her enjoyed the attention even though it wasn’t directly targeted at her but at the person, she was currently putting on her skin.
Their smile arouse a small feeling in her.
’’All hail the future Alpha King!’’
That took her back when everyone chorused ’’hail!’’
’’May the Moon Goddess grant her eternal life!’’
’’Hail!’’
’’Everything she has ever wished to be hers!’’
’’Hail!’’
’’Glory be to her!’’
’’Glory!’’
Both Layla and Sisi bounced on their feet and clapped with the rest of the people at the table. It was really heart moving to experience this. It’s either two things, they are just doing this because they believe it was something they should do or Evangeline was just really a nice soul to be hated by them.
’’Ugh, she is not yet the Future Alpha King and you all are already calling her one?’’ One of the three men that has been glaring at her with distaste since she had made her presence known sneered beside the Alpha King. His eyes burning on her with nothing but hatred and Charlotte noticed they had similar eyes and long white hair. While the other two men had her father’s eyes and hair color.
’’Oh, you are just jealous, Prince Zayne, that your youngest sibling would one day rule over you.’’ The woman who got everyone cheering and hailing her waved off as she settled down on her seat.
The remark made Prince Zayne freeze—and her too. Their eyes locked, and she felt a chill run down her spine as his eyes darkened more on her. Her father or mother seemed unfazed by the insult thrown at her older brother from the person she later learned to be the mother of both Layla and Sisi.
’’Maybe that will encourage you to do better as a Prince over your people and be more responsible. Like how Evangeline is.’’
Her blood ran cold once more at the obvious comparison to her and her older brother who looked like he wanted to rip out the throats of everyone present at the table.
Prince Zayne never said anything to anyone at the table again.
’’Come now, Evangeline. Bring her over and let her seat with her precious Aunty.’’
Every other well-wisher apart from Prince Zayne and the other two men who looked so much like the Alpha King giggled at the woman’s words. It wouldn’t take a genius to figure out that those three men were her older brothers, and it looked like they were Evangeline’s anti-fan.
As she sat at the table with her large family, it hit her—she hadn’t been formally declared the Future Alpha King of Astoria. Yet, everyone was already rooting for her. At that moment, she understood their hatred and the venom they directed at her.
Although, Evangeline didn’t understand the logic behind making the youngest to rule. Zayne looked more capable if you asked her. Not to talk of she is a girl and at a lesser advantage. Charlotte was then curious to learn more on how things run in this strange world.
What qualifies a person to rule and what doesn’t. She wanted to rule out strength because with Zayne’s physic and all—he was a hundred times stronger than her. He could lift a rock in the air if he wanted to! She would rather not consider it being based on intelligence because it wouldn’t be fair to start judging him when she was just meeting him for the first time.
The way he threw nasty stares at her from across the table as she ate and got pampered by literally everyone at the table sent multiple death chills down her spine.
She received some unwelcoming stares from Ash and Ezekiel as well. Everyone seemed to ignore them and pass food and beverages over their heads like they weren’t there or part of the royal family as well.
Even their mother would barely cast a glance their way.
They were probably a set of disappointments. Though it wasn’t proper to judge, but it looked like one.
Charlotte kind of felt bad for them with how they were being treated with little regard on the table despite their cold looks at her. Even Layla and Sisi—the nicest people on this abnormal world— had a nasty glare to spare at them.
She made a mental note to ask them more about her older brothers from them once she was alone with them—of course, she would not make it seem to them like she had no idea of who her brothers were and what they might have done.
She was introduced to their Mates as well. They sat side by side, distant and adrift, untouched by the lively energy swirling around the table—all because of her. The three women also made it know subtly that they didn’t like her.
After all, she was part of the main reasons their partners were disregarded at this gathering.
She also made a mental note to know more about them as well.
She coughed and everyone would be by her side to make sure she was okay.
She choked on a beverage and her mother would act like the drink was poisoned.
They didn’t just pamper her—they worshiped her. If she asked, they’d drop to their knees without hesitation.
Sisi and Layla’s mom treated her like she was a baby. She was affectionate and made sure she had nothing but the best meal at the table.
This made Charlotte retire to bed that night with one last thought.
If she were to rate this world on how it has been treating her so far, regardless of the many unpleasant encounters from Alpha dickhead of the Staggering Teeth Pack and the hate she received from her siblings and their Mates.... Evangeline sighed softly with a satisfied smile on her lips.
A sensible three stars would have been fair. It would have been the complete five if Ree-ree were also present in this world with her.
