Mated To The Demon Prince-Chapter 40: Vesta
We don’t have one.
Evangeline had to pause in her tracks at such absurdity.
Isn’t she also a member of the royal family of werewolves?
How come she wasn’t blessed with this amazing superpower of fire, water, and ice bending??? But she could knock out the teeth of the Elf prince?
Well, we believe the reason we weren’t blessed with one was because the Moon Goddess has a bigger purpose for you. Instead, she blessed you with strength, which they believe would be useful to take down the demon prince in the coming days.
Charlotte still couldn’t wrap her head around the logic of giving up her chance to be like those characters in Avatar just to take down an entity she has no idea of.
She really needs to have a word with the God of this universe and how she does her things! Her ways are really strange, and she has zero reviews about her.
Evangeline scoffed. So all she could do in this world was to throw punches and swing sword at people. That was pretty boring and not cool.
Did you say you were my wolf?
Yes. The entity replied in a more jovial tone.
Can you explain how you can talk in my head...?
The moon goddess asked for my permission before the souls were switched. I was then joined to you and told to explain things to you and make your life much easier here and in this body. I assumed you are not a soul from this world based on your confusion about...mostly everything. And I am here to help. My name is Vesta, and I am your wolf form. I can talk to you because we have been bonded just like everyone else by the Moon Goddess. You are a special type of werewolf now that you have taken the form and life of my previous owner.
You are loved and admired basically by everyone, and the knowledge of your strength and valor is known in all lands. You have a prophecy on your head, and we have a destiny to fulfil. To be the next future Alpha King of Astoria and using the strength we’ve been given to by the Moon Goddess to end the wicked reign of the Devil God famously known as The Demon Prince.
The Dungeons are those creepy, tall, dark trees you were once running towards that night we were being pursued by our mate. It is the habitat of millions of demons and other forms of monsters that have derailed from the blessings of the Moon Goddess—
So, so, so...this demon prince guy currently leads those numbers of demons and he is in-charge of the dungeons?
Yes.
Vesta replied after a brief moment of silence and Evangeline decided she needs time to take all these in before she asked more questions about herself and the world around her. She was grateful that at least this God was very thoughtful to have her wolf form bonded with her immediately and help her navigate her journey in this interesting world of wolves and demons!
She could just relate with Vesta more about anything that confuses her, instead of trying to pretend to Layla and Sisi that she was aware of a particular thing about herself or the world she lives in but can’t really remember it clearly.
Life wouldn’t be that difficult now that she has Vesta explaining things to her without anyone being suspicious of her.
Vesta?
She called as she followed her two friends down a snowy path that led to a part of this village. It was exploding with light and fireworks—it felt like a carnival was currently ongoing in that area. Layla and Sisi were excited to participate—dragging her along with them.
Yes?
Thank you for being here.
Vesta didn’t say anything.
She jumped when Layla squealed at the party happening around them. Evangeline held her beating chest when something huge exploded behind them. They turned around to be met with fireworks illuminating the dark sky. The people around them cheered while bouncing on their feet. The fireworks weren’t as impressive as the one they have in her world, but it was something to gaze at.
’’Ladies! How about a nice jewelry to compliment your outfit as you join in the celebration?’’ A vendor called out to them loudly in the midst of the chaos happening around them. More fireworks boomed in multiple locations at the same time. Music happening all around them as people took themselves to show off their impressive dancing skills.
’’No, thank you!’’ Layla said, her face flushed as she giggled, holding them tight.
’’What are we celebrating?’’ Evangeline whispered close to Layla’s ears as they wiggled themselves in-between the joyous crowd, holding tight to avoid loosing each other.
’’The starting of the moon calander and the beginning of a new year.’’
Evangeline didn’t say anything to that as she let herself be dragged around by Layla, who seemed to have her eyes on a particular place. The excitement was infectious, and the music wasn’t that bad not to move in the tiniest bit to it.
’’We agreed to come into town this evening, and it so happens to be on the night of a new year!’’
’’Beautiful women of the moon, how about a nice cup of wolves breath?!’’
’’Hmm, wolves breath,’’ Sisi sounded beside them. Her face also flushed like hers.
Layla didn’t even wait to see if she was interested and dragged them towards the tenth to be served by the man three large cups of something that was disgusting. It had this green and murky color. She hesitated to have even the smallest sip out of...only god knows what they mix to produce this shit. But when Layla and Sisi were having their fourth round of the nasty goodness and begging for more. She saw Layla giving the man seven golden coins, and that was when she knew this drink wasn’t for free.
She brought the giant seized cup to her lips and pushed the tip of her tongue to have a shy taste of it. Evangeline scrunched up her nose in disgust as it tasted like sand and an unhealthy amount of salt.
’’Why? You don’t like it?’’ Layla asked, obviously looking drunk now gulping down her eight cup. ’’It used to be your favorite alcohol,’’ She slurred out as Sisi collapsed on one of the bar tables arranged not too far from the tent.
It was then she knew her and Evangeline would never be on the same page.
Ever!
’’Gather around people and all you moon lovers!!!!’’ A man called not too far from the tent they were. She gave Layla her cup of wolfs breath to drink. She saw the crowd then rush towards what seemed to be a stage for a show, and it was blinding with lights and multiple fireworks beaming from it to attract more people. ’’For it is time to hear the story!’’
’’Oh! I have been waiting a whole year to hear the story! Don’t want to miss out!’’
Once again, she found herself being dragged to the man standing high and proud on the impressive platform arranged and decorated to gather the attention of everyone. Layla told the nice mister currently serving people that terrible thing to watch over her unconscious sister laying on the table while they go hear ’’the story’’ she seemed too excited about.
’’Is it okay to trust that man to watch over Sisi? Why don’t we just head back home?’’ Evangeline asked Layla softly as she was being dragged to the very front of the stage. Overtaking a few people in the process, fighting her way for them to have the best view of the man waiting patiently for everyone to be settled before him.
’’Gaius? He is a good man. We know him for his beer. He can’t do anything to her, and we are not going home until we hear the story.’’
Evangeline wanted to protest and even suggest to wait beside the lonely form of Sisi passed out and drunk in that tent, but Layla wasn’t letting her have her way and insist she also listened to the story.
She glanced over her shoulder to stare at the faint view of Sisi one last time before her eyes zoned back in on the bright stage to listen to the story this man has to tell them.
