Chapter 46: Grandmother Supreme 2

Grandmother supreme stopped aging the day she encountered the moon goddess in the flesh and was blessed with her spiritual energy and light.

That makes a lot of sense.

She is the mother of your father and Layla’s and Sisi’s father as well. The day she met with the moon goddess, she stepped down from her role as the Alpha King to live here while entrusting that role to dad at a young age of fifteen.

Woah. That’s, though.

It wasn’t that difficult when dad aged and met mom and had her ruling by his side.

Hmm. But wait, how come I have met everyone except Layla’s and Sisi’s dad?

Her wolf was about to answer when a low hum came from Grandmother supreme. They all raised their heads to lock eyes with her.

She had the whitest hair ever, and they were long, flowing below her waist. Her eyes were completely white and ethereal which added to her mysteriousness. A crescent shaped moon tattooed on her forehead. She was wearing a white cloth and looked so much like a goddess.

Layla and Sisi couldn’t stop smiling when she regarded the three of them one by one. Evangeline lowered her head with unease when her gaze seemed to linger on her the most. She wondered if she had something on her face or there was something wrong with her.

’’Grandmother,’’

Her eyes left her and Evangeline could release the hold she had on her breath.

’’Forgive us for ruining your sleep. We came to ask your permission to relax in one of your healing rooms. We’ve had a rough few weeks, and we need a swift recovery on our strength to survive the next coming weeks.’’

Evangeline didn’t know Layla could speak this politely. Grandmother supreme just observed them all in that weird way. Her gaze remained on her the most, making her more nervous than she should be before her grandmother.

’’How many times I’ve told you three, as long as you are my children you don’t need permission to benefit from your grandmother. Everything I own belongs to you three. One of you would grow up to inherit all I have been blessed with by the moon goddess the day I decide for her to take my life,’’ She began with a soft smile on her white face.

She sounded like someone who has seen the whole world and has been shown to her many secrets. Someone who is preparing themselves to ascend to the position of god and feels like too much of her knowledge shared with us ignorant wolves about life would drive us to insanity. Her eyes moved intelligently and Evangeline didn’t know it was possible for a being to be this calm and be blessed with the purest form of energy and aura.

Both Layla and Sisi jumped on their feet.

’’Thank you, Grandmother!’’ They greeted with their faces beaming with joy. ’’Come on, Eva!’’

Layla urged as they ran towards the door while she struggled to stand on her feet. Her lower leg and her toes felt numb from having to sit on it for long. Who would have thought a day would come where she would have to be sitting like a monk every day in class and before her Grandmother who was young enough to be her older sister.

The sacrifices to be made to continue living someone’s else’s life and destiny was indeed numbing.

’’Ah, now I can understand why a daughter of mine rejected the blessings of Ira.’’

Evangeline found herself pausing in her tracks as she watched both Layla and Sisi disappear from her line of sight. She wanted to pretend like she didn’t hear, but she was wary of being disrespectful on her first day of being introduced to her.

’’You came from another world and the existence of my granddaughter had to be wiped by the goddess for you to live.’’ 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

Evangeline grabbed her chest when it started to beat so hard on her thoracic.

’’I believe with all my years of existing that the moon goddess always does what is right. I have never once questioned her ways even though my people were cursed by her of snow. She does everything together for our good. I once had a vision of your arrival, and you were this confident to present yourself before me knowing fully well that you are a fraud and I cannot be deceived by the rest.’’

Evangeline’s eyes reeled with what to do and how to handle being caught by an enigma in her family. How would she explain that she didn’t have a say? Would she believe if she told her she never asked or wished for any of this?

’’My daughter had to die for you to live in her body. The Goddess is too perfect to make a mistake, and I am nothing but her servant. But knowing what she’d done to my granddaughter who I adored the most... I...am...pained.’’

The way she said it was too emotional to be ignored. Evangeline gathered the courage with tears of her own to face the enigma. She had a slight trace of tears running down her white cheeks. Her eyes looked sad as she stared down at her. Thankfully there was no rage or malice in there, just...sadness.

What to do became her problem. She felt like it was necessary if she explained herself but how not to make herself feel responsible for this was as hard as trying to figure out the starting point of a one thousand-piece puzzle.

They locked eyes with each other. Both of them trying their best to hold back their tears and not break down before the other.

She didn’t know Evangeline had to die for her to take over her physical form to live. No one told her this. Not even Vesta. The tears became more painful as guilt had a vice grip around her throat—making breathing a bit too difficult for her in the room.

She killed someone else’s beloved child and granddaughter just to live and here she was thinking of ways to return to her world and reconnect with her Ree-ree again. How selfish did she sound?

The tears flowed down her cheeks like a hot stream as her body convulsed.

Evangeline stared down at the floor in shame. Who did this to her without seeking her opinion on this first?

’’The only way you could make me, her mother, father, friends happy and her people who look up to her with individual expectations is to fulfil them and always do the right thing. That’s the only thing that would keep me from not turning my back on the goddess and ending it all.’’

Evangeline looked up at her and shook her head telling her not to end her relationship with the goddess she has been serving all her life. She does not think she could survive a moment if she bears the guilt of being responsible for ending a bond that has been existing between a God and a she-wolf before she was born.

’’Promise me.’’

The growing tension between them increased.

’’Promise me that you are going to leave my daughter’s life right and accomplish all she couldn’t accomplish for her family and people because of you.’’

That was just so unfair. But right now, she has no choice but to. At least to ease the tightness in her chest.

’’I...’’

Evangeline swallowed back her tears. She should have seen this coming when everything was too good and undeserving of her. The life she has been given to by force and was slowly accepting it would come at a massive price.

’’I promise.’’

That brought a look of satisfaction on Grandmother supreme’s face before she dropped another bombshell on her.

’’There is this fruit called the soul-seeking fruit that I would be needing for an upcoming ritual. It grows only in the nether world popularly known as the dungeons. When the time comes, I will be sending you to fetch one for me. Only when you succeed in this task will I finally accept you as one of us.’’
