Chapter 59: Fade Away

’’Now, it is time for Death to play God.’’

The sea-glass floor beneath them was partly flooded as the heavenly skies parted with quick zaps of lightning and the terrible groans of thunder.

His knees were soaked in the small flood of this world. His head hung low in shame and in regret. A tear slid down from his face, slipped from his jawlines to fall as a drop of blood in the muddy water.

The more she looked, the more this world faded like a long, lost memory.

But all she could think of was that this person looked so familiar and badly hurt. Not physically, but deep within his soul.

His dark-red hair falling over his face like a curtain, and he refused to move or take a breath. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Evangeline stood before him as she felt another entity hovering behind her. But she was more interested in this person. Her heart drew to him, and she had this indescribable urge to be near him and touch even if it was a strand of his hair.

He looked like he would never recover from whatever must have befallen him, and it made her want to mourn with him for what he lost. It seemed like it was over when it was just the beginning.

’’And I am going to play that role perfectly. More than you will ever know.’’

The entity behind said feeding on his downcast look to boost her confidence.

’’I will be God and there could still be a better place for you in the birth of my new world if you agree to be the darkness so I can be the bright moon that will shine so bright. And I promise to love you like we both want.’’

Evangeline didn’t know when she started gasping for breath, the air stopping in her throat and refusing to journey down her lungs. It burned hot like a candle was placed so close to the organ. Tears streamed down her face when he finally raised his head a bit to lock gaze with her.

Deep white and cloud-like particles covering the entirety of his eyes as they found her watching. Those eyes were bleeding, and you could see how damaged they were as blood spilled out from them in the disguise of tears.

He stared at her and for a moment, she wondered if she was indeed here and not just passing by with time to spectate.

How was he able to see her with those eyes was a mystery or...was she overthinking this again? Could it be possible that he could see her?

That had her taking small steps back in fear when those terrifying gaze of him lingered on her form. They weren’t hard but tender. And she wondered how it was possible.

What was happening?

Wasn’t she just in the world of mirrors, lying down peacefully beside the elf prince awaiting the gifts of that world? What was this place?

Have I transmigrated again?

She has never been more confused than this.

’’What are you?’’

She stepped back with a gulp as he whispered loud enough for her to catch.

How is he so familiar, and he does not know who...or what was she?

He kept staring at her like she was some sort of enigma or wonder. He wasn’t supposed to see the tiniest trace of light with how badly his eyes were injured.

He couldn’t take his eyes off this entity that only he could see and notice on this day he fell from grace.

That was the first time he knew her. He had only thought they were the only beings existing in this large void but didn’t know they were three.

And she was just as beautiful as the first day of her birth in that secret world.

The first time he laid eyes on another entity that had life apart from the two of them. Brown hair that fell a bit beneath her shoulders and those soft brown eyes that looked at him with compassion.

But where did she come from...or how...?

This was the first time he could not make sense of something.

But the attraction he felt towards this entity was so strong that he rose to his feet and slowly approached it in wonder. Nothing has ever fazed him like this before.

The more he moved towards her the further she backed away from him in fear. His bloodied gaze noted her every reaction to him.

She caught a bit of her reflection in the sea-glass floor and froze on the spot. Her eyes widening in surprise as her hair was no longer that snow-white hair but that boring brown color. Her eyes are big and uninteresting, same with the rest of her body. But she was able to pull this being towards her. Towering over her like a giant as his darkened but bloodied gaze stared down at her in fascination.

She was ready to give up her life to anyone that could explain what was currently going on. How am I Charlotte again, and what is this frightening place? Who was that glaring at the both of them in rage when this beautiful bloodied enigma placed one of his fingers under her chin and raised her head a bit to have a better view of her. His clouded vision darting back and forth and taking in every single detail of her face from the first strand of the hair on her head to her slightly parted lips.

He was so drawn...so captivated...that he didn’t know when he slowly began to lower his head so close to hers. Both of his hands cupped her face as his thumbs explored every part of her cheeks.

’’What are you?’’ He asked again in the softest voice as more blood spilled out from his eyes. He looked terrifying and demonic. But the gentle look he gave her pulled a string in her heart she didn’t know was there.

’’A...person?’’

A deep frown formed on his face as she wasn’t helping matters by being more dumb in this situation. Could this be some messed up time travel or what?

When she began to fade away, and he could no longer hold or feel her, he thought his eyesight was so badly injured that he started to hallucinate and see a beautiful dream before him.

But the dream was so real and tempting to lean close to have a taste of it. It added to the mystery of what was happening.

How was it not only the two of them existing in this void?

Who was that third entity?

Where did it come from?

He wanted to know and see it again.

And when he finds it, he would make it his, and it would never leave his sight again.
