Mated To The Demon Prince-Chapter 60: Prank
Evangeline was the last to wake up from this dream with a horrified gaze. She pulled herself up to a sitting position to try and catch her breath. Prince Xalith appeared by her side to give her his hand as he helped her rise to her feet. Her legs feeling numb.
Her eyes still wide in horror at what she just saw and witnessed. Which still didn’t make any sense to her.
The only thing she derived from that dream was that she had been familiar with that entity before not once or twice, although her brain was subtly trying to mess with her that they were closer than she thinks.
He looked way different in that dream of hers and it made her heart race. Evangeline placed her heart on her chest as she noticed she was back in her werewolf form again.
What just happened to her and what does it mean?
She looked up to the prince holding her to himself also trying to understand what happened. She stared at him hoping he knew and could give her a reasonable explanation to what she’d just seen and experienced.
But her body felt so weak and strangely heavy. Like ten hands were pushing down aggressively on her shoulder.
She blinked and watched how the world of mirrors faded around her, and they were back on the school premises where they took off from. It was dark, and they could faintly see each other with the little illumination from the moon. The snow fell hard on them as usual, and she suddenly couldn’t be immune to the amount of cold that greeted some exposed parts of her skin.
She found herself leaning more on the prince who still hasn’t let go of her for support, and she believed she would collapse if he should let go in the slightest.
Her breaths remained uneven as she tried so hard to forget those diabolical set of eyes that regarded her with so much possession it overwhelmed her. She was certain it would be the reason she would be up all night fearing and overthinking.
Everything suddenly became too much. She dragged both of them down on their knees, her head pressed to his chest as she held on tight to a piece of his cloth, breathing heavily.
How can a being be so beautiful and evil at the same time?
What sort of nasty prank was this?
Prince Xalith looked a bit alarmed by her behavior and did his best to never let go of her. He was guessing the gift of the world of mirrors and the sleep they both had, had something to do with this.
If anyone told her that enigma, she has been randomly seeing in places since she arrived in this world, manifesting as an insidious entity in her dreams was the famous demon prince of this world, she was going to believe.
He really did nothing to make her feel that way.
And she was supposed to behead him?
This must indeed be a bad joke.
’’Evangeline, what happened?’’
His voice asked calmly once she was beginning to calm down. His hands are still around her in comfort. How would she explain to him in a way he could understand and not also freak out or leave her?
It all started when she collapsed and found herself being kept like a prisoner in that godforsaken hospital and then her life never remained as it was.
She lost Ree-ree...
She lost her humanity to become a shapeshifting wolf...
She lost her boring life...
She lost everything.
This thought made her sobbed harder on him, and she was thankful he didn’t pressure her much to tell him what happened. He held her and rocked her back and forth so lovingly that she never wanted to depart from his warm embrace on this freezing night.
It felt the safest and the only place she wanted to be in.
She didn’t mean for him to lift her up and carry her on his back to take her home. Her hands wrapped around him as she buried her face deep on him to seek comfort in his scent.
When they reached her fantasy home she was getting used to calling it hers, he placed her back on her feet and turned to look at her in concern.
She was sure he went through all that to bring a duplicate version of a world she loved but didn’t exist with high hopes to impress her. Probably to have them staying there all day to enjoy the work of his hands, but she did a wonderful job in not making that happen for him.
She could not describe how bad she felt at this.
They stared at each other in silence with him checking every part of her body to make sure she was okay. When he noticed her slight shiver to the cold, he took her hands and cupped his large hands around it in a small attempt to keep her warm.
She stared at him for the longest of time.
How could she make it up to him and repay his kindness? He did so much to make her happy and she wouldn’t lie that he has been the only one she could say put so much effort into seeing her smile.
It was time for them to say goodbye. She stepped closer and pushed herself to stand on her tiptoes to place a small kiss at the side of his face before leaving. That was the only thing she could think of as a reward for his efforts, and she thought he deserved it as well.
Prince Xalith looked taken aback by her sudden kiss. He stood there staring blankly at space before turning around in the direction she disappeared to.
His heart raced, his stomach dipped and the warmth of her kiss was better than the winter coat around his shoulders. A small smile of satisfaction lit up his handsome face as he blushed all the way back to his lodging.
