Mated To The Demon Prince-Chapter 78: You Also Don’t
There is no soul-seeking fruit.
Nothing as such grows on my land.
Darkness stepped out from the portal he conjured up to lead him to the place he needed to be at the moment.
He came before the house and noticed how heavily guarded it was with degrading spells.
One touch from him was enough to crumble the ancient spell, bringing down the whole fence around the house with it.
He couldn’t believe this little bitch here tried to set his beloved up to be killed in his realm by using all she could use against her. He really needs to do something about all those that oppose her stay in this world he is so dedicated to destroying.
Grandmother supreme paused from her prayers to the moon goddess the moment she smelled the presence of something much eviler than a demon. It was so strong that it scared her to leave her house and see all her walls have been let down. She ran to her private temple where she offered sacrifice to the moon god. She almost died at the sight of him defiling the holy and sacred temple of the moon goddess.
Darkness started with rounding the medium-sized representation of his nemesis with a trail of his blood. He called out to the beasts of the air regardless of their sizes and the one buried in the ground to come and make a spectacular mess of this place.
Grandmother supreme couldn’t bear the shock and the level of his blasphemy. Her eyes bleed with tears as different kinds of serpents, birds, worms, and flies crowded the place.
’’Beautiful, isn’t it?’’
She continued to sob uncontrollably as she heard him say darkly behind her.
’’Hmm, I tend to be creative at times. It flows better when I am angered.’’
He came to stay so close to her back. His presence overwhelming her and pulling her down to her knees. Her temple could never be purified again and all she had done with her entire life was ruined. The goddess could turn her back on her, and she would be a nobody again.
She might start aging and eventually lose all her divine essence she has been bestowed on generously by the goddess.
She might eventually wither and die.
The thought made her bones quake in her that she wondered what she might have done to upset such monster.
’’I was the reason for her transmigration, but I am not sorry your granddaughter would be chosen by your God to host the soul of my beloved. To tell you a good lie, I was expecting your Goddess would do something this stupid and could never be trusted for once. I asked her for a favor, but she ended up doing whatever she pleases. Now, how is that my fault or my lover’s fault?’’
Grandmother supreme could not stop trembling as the demon began to walk around her in slow, calculating circles. His presence alone was nauseating, and she still did not fully understand his words.
The woman hiding inside the body of her grandchild is his love?
Since when do monsters start falling in-love?
It was a question she found disturbing and close to being false.
’’You deceived and took advantage of her weakness to have her die at my place because you can’t handle a single misstep from the goddess you also adore. I am not even happy to have her in the body of one of you dogs, but I am trying to be nice because of who she is to me and how I feel about her. But what I won’t tolerate is another one of the moon dogs giving her a hard time in a life I made happen for her.’’
Grandmother supreme stared at him still not knowing what to say.
’’This is just going to be a warning. If you dare go after her again,’’ Grandmother supreme moved back when he took slow steps towards her. ’’You will be replacing your precious moon temple in this misery. And I will make sure no trace of you will be found to be buried.’’
If nothing scared her in this life, getting talked to by the demon prince himself was enough to paralyze her in fear. She has been shown to how he looks like a few times faintly by the moon goddess. But it is so different seeing him physically. He scared and awed her at the same time.
She has never seen an entity this perfect and wicked as him.
He locked gaze with her, and she felt powerless, heavily dominated by him and instantly regretted sending her granddaughter to the dungeons to die because she couldn’t accept who she was now. No sane grandmother would.
What grandmother supreme found confusing was when he said he asked the moon god to do this and she agreed. The moon god they know would never answer to evil, and she was always on their side!
There is more to this that she is missing out on. Though it was painful how the moon god killed her granddaughter to have her replaced by an alien, but she does not want to believe she did that for who was supposed to be their enemy.
How would her people understand that the moon god was still on their side if they should hear this?
It was heartbreaking and confusing.
When he was sure he had passed his message to this puppet of his enemy, he backed away and conjured up his portal back home to leave.
He paused from stepping in to the portal to address the woman again still trying to be strong not to break down completely before him. Darkness tilted his head a bit to the left in a quick observation and was able to deduct something.
’’You...also...don’t belong here, do you?’’
Grandmother supreme’s eyes widened in shock.
’’Only a stranger could easily tell apart another stranger.’’
They both stared at each other in silence. Darkness broke the stare with a smile before turning around to step inside the portal to leave.
Grandmother supreme stood there not able to recover from what just happened.
Eva got tired of trying to break her way out of this place. It was like the doors were impenetrable. Nothing could break through it and it was frustrating.
The sound of footsteps at the door and the turning of the locks had her raising her head from her lap to see someone unexpected storm in with a resting frown face. He was one of the guys her instructor brought on her first day of schooling here.
Her eyes widened in surprise wondering what his business was in the dungeons or if they’ve already noticed she’s missing at home, and he was sent to rescue her.
His eyes darkened on her from where she sat curled up. Eva gasped when he came to her and forced her to her feet. His hands clasped around her tight as he dragged her out of the room. Eva’s heart began to race when he led them down a set of dark corridors. He was moving fast, and she tried to catch up with him as they moved through more insidious corridors.
Eva was led outside and down a set of stairs.
He was waiting at the bottom of the stairs as the stale, dry air of the dungeons assaulted her nose. The sky growing darker and casting grave shadows above them. Small sandstorms clouding her vision as she was dragged towards him. His blue-red eyes fixed on her the entire time and when she reached him, they grew softer.
Eva tried wiggling her hands from his firm grip but Apophis didn’t budge—instead his hands tightened around her wrist as he brought her to his master as ordered.
One look from him had the serpent loosening his hold on her. Eva stiffened when he unwrapped a dark fury overcoat, came close to place it around her shoulders, guiding both her arms inside the long, baggy sleeves and made sure she was properly covered. The act was a very strange thing for her as she stared at who was supposed to be and acted like the devil showed her the littlest bit of concern.
Or was he not the same demon prince that burned thousands in one night?
She kept staring at him amazed, but she was too smart to be fooled. He probably had the last drop of decency in him to do this for her before bringing her head under a knife.
’’I will be sending you home now, and I never should see you wondering down here again for no reason,’’ he said sternly with a drop of care in them. She just kept staring at him confused.
’’Are you not...going to kill me?’’ She asked dumbly which brought a tiny smile of amusement on his lips. He drew close to her and leaned down a little to level with her face.
’’I will, maybe in a million years after now. But do me a favor and stop getting yourself into trouble. You might not be lucky again to have me come to your rescue. This place is a no-go area for you no matter the reason. And if anyone dares pressure you to put your life at risk—just let him know....’’
The faint smile on his lips grew the more he stared into those cold blue orbs, and he could see her hiding behind them.
’’...and I will remind everyone again why you shouldn’t be messed with.’’
Evangeline didn’t mean for her cheeks to grow red. They did on their own as if on instinct.
She kept staring at him in silence and Darkness thought she was too adorable not to be given a goodbye kiss. But he controlled himself by pulling back.
It was strange hearing him speak like this. The way he gazed at her intensely was disturbing, and she couldn’t wait to know the reason behind it.
One small nod from Apo phis and she found herself being dragged away from him into the darkness before her.
Evangeline couldn’t resist looking over her shoulder one last time at who she was destined with in this world. But he was already gone. Trusting her with this demon that was entrusted to lead her safely out of this realm.
’And I will remind everyone again why you shouldn’t be messed with.’
Why?
Why would he care?
