Chapter 79: Why Does He?

I should make her forget everything.

Those were his thoughts as he stepped out of the portal to the barren soil. Goodness knows where that thought to make her forget everything about him came from. He didn’t fully know what he would gain from wiping the memories of him completely from her life.

Could it be because she could not move on properly in this life?

While he stayed by her side to heal her from her wounds and holding her to himself, she remained faithful to Ree-ree. Clinging to the version of him that he could never be.

He wasn’t invisible.

The caring, sweet companion he introduced her to.

Darkness stared down at his clenched fist.

He was a monster—-no, he became one for the cause of revenge.

He had never had anyone love and care for him genuinely like she did. He had the best moments of his life with her back in her world. He was so curious about her the first time he laid his eyes on perfection until the point of falling helplessly in-love with her.

He loves her so much that he doesn’t mind ruining this life as well for her because of it by bringing her to himself.

But that would be so unfair and selfish. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

They’ve always been opposites and two different entities who weren’t supposed to find comfort in each other.

God, she wasn’t supposed to know an entity like him. Whether he likes to accept it or not, her first life boiled like Hell the moment he stepped into it, and he was the reason she was no longer human again. He slowly climbed the small stairs to his throne and sat with a downcast look on his face as he played with the little black ball in-between his fingers.

He wasn’t regretting everything they had together—but couldn’t wait to see if her life and existence would be more meaningful without his being there physically or haunting her dreams whenever she sleeps. He wasn’t going to completely disappear from her life—no, it was one of the most impossible things for him to do.

He was only going to disappear from her memories and dreams for a while to see the difference.

He heard from Apophis how her new family loves and respect her. He said she was ready to give this second go at life a chance as well. And he couldn’t wait to see how that turns out for her.

She could only live this life freely if Ree-ree wasn’t there to remind her of the life she had and keep holding her back from embracing this new thing. Although he would have preferred her to be anything else apart from a werewolf.

He remembered his darling also sharing in the hate of werewolves. He would never forget the jokes she used to make about them. At that time, she thought they were all fictions characters and always assumed werewolves were the weakest compared to a demon, a witch, or a vampire.

He found himself smiling again.

Ree-ree and everything they’ve had until this point was only going to disappear from her memories for a while until he was sure this decision was going to be the best bet for her.

After all, now that he is back in this world. His life would return to dedicating it all to his call for vengeance and destroying this world he forced her to live in. He wouldn’t be able to do two things at a time. Loving your lover while being plain evil to destroy a world.

He had to pick one, and sadly, it was the latter.

Maybe after destroying this world that was built on deceit and bringing his enemy to her feet to beg eternally for his forgiveness, if it is not too late, Ree-ree could return and show her just who he was, and he would build a new and better world for her.

For them.

He had been working on this memory loss exilir for a while, and it was complete and in his palms already. He was going to be giving it to Apophis and order him to make her eat it once they were so far away from the dungeons.

He continued to play with the tiny, sweet-like ball. She would forget everything as long as he wants, and it is the best he could do for her at the moment.

Why does his touch, no matter how small and light they were, make me remember about the time I felt Ree-ree’s touch for the first time in my life? In that lonely, dark, unconscious part of her mind?

Why is it just so uncannily similar?

It was so good that she mastered it. How it made her feel peace and love simultaneously. How satisfying the feeling was from the crown of her head to the tip of her toes?

How she longed to feel such again ever since that time, and who would have imagined she would get that same vibes from the fucking terrifier of this world!

Things just doesn’t make sense.

They were currently strolling through Astoria, and her eyes would constantly wonder off to the other peculiar entity moving slowly before her. Guarding her until she is safely at home.

She couldn’t believe a person could betray their pack to be a minion to the demon prince. Could it be because he doesn’t share the same views the community holds for him? Is the demon prince controlling him? Maybe some kind of dirty manipulation tricks and all or is he doing this for someone or for his benefit?

She couldn’t wrap her head around it.

She took a moment to observe him from head to toe.

He looks nothing like a werewolf and gave the aura of a different, stronger entity that she wondered who he was and where he came from.

There are a lot of shits that goes on in the dungeons. She turned her back to cast one last look at the disappearing trees behind them. It’s filled with so many abominations. It wouldn’t surmise her if he is also a citizen of hell hired by the demon prince to stalk her for the rest of her life.
