Chapter 94: Blast

’’I am not doing this,’’ Xalith broke the silence between them.

Darkness scoffed, ’’How very cowardly of you.’’

’’It is not,’’ Xalith defended in a strong voice. ’’I am just not interested in suicide.’’

Xalith was basically trembling before this dark God even though he put up a good front of not being the least intimidated by him.

’’And I will write to the Alpha King this evening to have you reviewed of your intentions towards us.’’

Darkness made him feel stupid for threatening him with the look he punished Xalith with. He also didn’t fail to catch the small nod his beloved gave in agreement to her new lover. What a cute way to support each other.

’’What about you, sweetheart?’’ Darkness turned to her causing her heart to sink deeper than a well in fear. Everyone was alarmed by his new approach. ’’Care to inspire your fans about how dedicated you are to beheading someone like me?’’

Eva thought she would be taken to heaven’s pearly gates faster with the malevolent look he gave her than his call for her to do something this dangerous all in the name of training. He saw how she slowly backed away from him and everyone...her hands trembling with fear at death.

Xalith immediately took a protective stance before her and faced the demon prince headstrong by saying, ’’She is not doing it too. No one is.’’

His jealousy knew no bounds when she dared hide from him behind her new love. It felt like someone was continuously poking his heart with a knife as his mind whirled and twirled non-stop with anger.

She slowly fisted her hands around the prince cloth as her way to welcome his protection.

But she shouldn’t have done that.

’’Stop hiding and do this or...’’ Lucy screamed when both of her legs were covered in hard blocks of ice. The ice growing at an alarming speed all the way up to her legs. Everyone fell back in surprise that he had powers and was capable of sorcery.

Xalith was quick to recover from the shock and used his magic to attempt to free his friend from the growing ice grip on her. His magic was not in comparison to the powers of darkness. It bounced back heavily on him causing him to be thrown several feet from them. Xalith landed unceremoniously on his back and moving to spit out blood from his lips.

’’Xalith!’’ Eva cried out as things got out of control pretty fast.

’’Take one more step towards him Evangeline and I will have him taken to a place. And you will never see him again.’’

Eva paused from running towards a bleeding Xalith. She turned slowly on her heels to regard him in paranoia. His face daring her to do anything against him. Her hands shaking uncontrollably by her side in unrestricted fear at him.

The growing ice prison around Lucy’s body paused just a few inches below her jaw.

His love stared at him like he was the very weapon fashioned against her.

Indeed, he was.

Those ethereal dark abyss only narrowed the more on her inflicting more terror in her as a tear slipped from her eyes. Eva looked the most confused at what was happening. Why did it feel like everything that was happening to them presently was because of her?

What has she done wrong to be dealt with in this way?

’’I...don’t...want to do this...’’ She pleaded with him as more tears stream down her face.

He thought of pardoning her from his fury but...

Eva’s eyes wandered off to a struggling Xalith still on the floor and bleeding in concern.

....she made another grave mistake by sparing Xalith a glance while still begging for his mercy.

His jaw clenched hard in his mouth.

’’Do it or everyone here dies.’’

Eva gaze at him long enough for him to have mercy, but he remained unyielding. She wondered just what type of teacher her father assembled for them to train under. If one wasn’t degrading them, the other made it obvious of his sinister intentions to have them killed.

But why?

What could they have done to offend him?

’’Eva...’’ Lucy cried out diverting her attention from their merciless teacher. ’’...please, just do it. Please. I don’t want to die...please...’’

’’Lucy?’’ Andrea gasped in shock at her words.

’’Just fucking do what he says Evangeline!’’ Lucy snapped in fear when the ice began to grow again but at snail’s pace.

She turned to the rest and their expressions was unreadable. It was only Andrea that dared her not to proceed.

Come to think of it, could she be strong enough to bear being the reason for all of their deaths? Each of them represented a race in this world, and they are the only surviving hope of wherever they hailed from for a great future.

Just like her.

Well, except she was a fraud living the life that wasn’t meant for her in the first place.

She gulped down her fate as she took a shaky step towards the treacherous obstacle course. Darkness taken aback by her decision and angry at how weak she was to easily give in to be the sacrificial lamb for people.

Everyone was so distracted by Eva’s decision to go through this course for several people she’d just met in less than two weeks to notice Prince Xalith back on his feet and horrified by this as well.

Could it be guilt?

His eyes narrowed the more on his precious as he tried to read her thoughts.

It couldn’t be. No one in the heavens and beneath has done close to half of what he’s done to feel guilty enough to die for it. It was probably because he gave her no other choice or was too foolish enough to think she would be praised and loved more by them if she should do this. They’ve all just met and couldn’t have bonded so well enough to want to lay down their lives for each other.

The closer she got to the course and the dummies he forged with his magic, they began to spin on their own on a spot in preparation for the nightmare they were fashioned by him to inflict on people.

She paused at the threshold and stared at him over her shoulder for some sort of miracle to happen that will involve him stopping her from going through death.

She turned away in disappointment when he remained emotionless towards her.

’’Eva, don’t.’’ Andrea warned the last time. ’’You don’t have to do this if you don’t want to. He doesn’t have that much power over you. You are the—’’

Before Eva could venture into the destructive course, there was a full blast of energy that came from behind her beheading most of the dummies and destroying the entire obstacle course. The moment the storm calmed, everyone including Darkness turned to the direction of where the blast came from to see who or what was responsible.
