Mated to the Mad Lord-Chapter 194: Wolf king?
Chapter 194: Wolf king?
Violet was stunned.
The tension in the room was multiplying by the second as Cain’s beast, with midnight fur, stood at the center of the room, majestic with his head held high.
His eyes were blood red, unlike the others, who still had a light-colored shade of brown in their beasty eyes. It was scary but at the same time electrifying as everything seemed to come to a halt.
Even Frank, who stood next to her in his human form, had his head lowered to the ground, compared to Violet, who, although she felt the invisible pressure in the room, wasn’t influenced by it.
Her eyes fixed steadily on Cain, who hadn’t moved a muscle after the loud, ear-piercing growl he released. Violet listened to her heart thumping heavily in her chest as she watched Cain, unable to fathom what he would do next as she held her breath.
Just because he was yet to do anything didn’t mean he wouldn’t, considering the strength he showed—one that could take down all of them with utter ease.
Only to be surprised to see him suddenly transform into his human, naked form the next moment, to her utmost surprise and fear, considering the fact that the other lords were still in their beast form.
Her heart skipped a beat as she watched all of the lords, who had been forced to submit and bow their huge wolf beasts’ heads at him, raise angry eyes to look at him with a deep, nasty growl in the pit of their throats.
Cain... she thought to herself as her anxiety grew, even as she realized that, regardless of who Cain was, the thought that he would be attacked or hurt wasn’t something she wanted to see.
It was even more jarring that Cain stood there naked in the center of the room without doing anything else to protect himself. Violet’s mind was too occupied to be bashful about his nakedness as she thought to herself.
...did something go wrong? Was he unable to keep his beast form? she thought, confident that it was the exact same thing going through the minds of the lords, who looked menacing, especially two of them whom Violet couldn’t identify. She watched them step forward, growling deep and loud violently in a way that showed they were prepared to attack as other beast lords stepped back.
Cain! Alarm bells rang in her head as she jerked her head towards Frank, who stood beside her, having also raised his head. His arms tightened around her arm as he stood beside her.
"Can’t you–" she began to speak, wondering if it was possible for him to somehow help Cain, but she had barely spoken when she saw Frank shake his head out of the corner of her eyes, not once moving his gaze away from Cain, who was slowly being approached by two huge beasts.
Cain didn’t move as he stood on the broken pieces of the table he had crushed, watching two of them approach him with dark intent in their golden eyes, even as he impatiently waited, knowing that the statement he wanted to make wasn’t in his beast form but in his human one.
But they had just moved closer when he saw the beast he instinctively knew was Eldric suddenly dash forward to stop the other two in their tracks, growling at them as he communicated that they should back off. This, of course, made the two beast lords, Lady Harriet and Lord Magnus, think twice as they froze in their steps.
But just when Cain was getting bored out of his mind, as he realized that the result he wanted wouldn’t be achieved when it became clear that they would no longer attack... he had just turned his head back to send Frank to get new clothes for him when he heard it.
His ears prickled as he heard a grunt...a whooshing sound. He turned back around just in time to see Lord Magnus leap at him, at least five feet in size, jaws bared and teeth glaring as he launched himself at Cain, aiming for his throat with massive malevolence in his gaze.
Everyone else held their breath, and Violet was unaware of when she screamed his name, CAIN! beyond shocked at the sight in front of her as she realized that Cain would find it harder to fight back, especially since werewolves were stronger in their beast form.
But the words were barely out of her mouth when her mouth dropped open, her eyes widened in shock as she watched Cain move with such frightening speed that her eyes were unable to follow.
Her mouth hung open as she watched Cain’s feet lash out and strike the beast that had attacked with such force that Violet heard the sound of bones breaking before the beast was launched right into the wall with such force that he broke through it, burrowing a hole through the wall with his large size until he fell out of the building and onto the ground outside without moving.
The beast lords around him instinctively darted back as Lady Bella instantly transformed to her human form, Drey, her assistant, dashing towards her to wrap her in a cloak he had already prepared.
Bella did her best to show that she wasn’t being combative by changing back into her human form, going as far as to bow her head a little. All of them were aware that strength ruled, and Cain had just showed them the kind Bella had only heard in stories. The memory of the sight of Cain’s wolf was still fresh in her memory and one she didn’t think she would ever forget.
Bella wasn’t the only one, as one after the other, they began to change back to their human forms, and the atmosphere became much better, even though the tension remained as everyone avoided Cain like a plague, including the assistants who ran to their masters with cloaks they had prepared.
Frank wasn’t any different, as he had also carried the cloak and a couple of other things with him just in case they were needed, but unlike the others, his master was Cain.
In a split second, he stashed the cloak in Violet’s hand and quickly gestured for her to move forward. "Hurry...hurry...hand it to him!" Violet suddenly heard him say with a sense of urgency that she immediately reacted to, grabbing the cloak and hurrying towards Cain to hand it to him.
But it wasn’t until she had tapped him on his shoulder, stretching out the cloak to him, and noticed his eyes—one golden-colored and the other pure red—that her heart thumped in her chest, and she froze.
About to back away, only to see Cain smile at her as he took and wrapped the cloak around his body, tying the band before moving closer to pick her off the ground, to her immense surprise.
Violet was completely unaware of the gaze of the others fixed on her in shock and amazement as they watched her approach Cain and be picked up by him as he planted a light kiss on her lips. Violet, still dazed, felt his warm lips pressed against hers.
"You don’t look scared!" he mumbled to her in a whisper, an intense look of pride in his eyes when he looked at her, which made Violet want to bury her face in the ground as she realized that they weren’t alone. Her cheeks reddened as she instead covered her face and burrowed into Cain’s chest without responding to him.
This made Cain chuckle out loud in response as his hold on her tightened ever so slightly, and he continued to walk towards the door barefoot, clearly intent on leaving.
Others were mellow, not daring to speak a word to Cain, but Eldric was brewing with intense anger as he raised his voice to speak. "This meeting isn’t over!" he yelled at him, his fists balled together by his sides, only to hear Cain’s light response as he waved his hand without looking back.
"I’ll return when the meeting is reconvened and the room is restored. Moreover...Magnus might be dying. All of you should check on him!" A hint of icy malice in his tone as he sent a gaze over them, which made them all freeze for a second, only for Cain to turn around and leave, to their immense relief and vague shame as they realized that they might be lords, but it was clear that unofficially...Cain had just proclaimed himself KING.
