Chapter 203: The Calm Before The Storm

Violet was shocked to find out that she could actually make demands that Cain would agree to, especially when she had told him they would no longer sleep together unless they visited the doctor. She was even more surprised to find that Cain was eager to do so as soon as possible, willingly arranging for it the moment they were done eating early in the morning.

The food was plentiful, and while Violet ate a full plate of assorted things she liked in the morning—most especially oats and fruits—Cain ate three times more than her and would have eaten even more if he hadn’t suddenly raised his hand to touch his forehead, rubbing it gently.

"Are you okay?" Violet immediately asked, seeing a flash of distress on his face. After the night they had spent in the hotel, their relationship had grown much closer than before.

She no longer had to wear the collar, and her movements were no longer restricted as long as she stayed within the mansion. It was so good that she could already imagine that in less than a month, he would even allow her to leave the house, provided she took enough bodyguards with her.

She could eat as much as she wanted and order as many clothes and expensive pieces of jewelry as she liked. Even better, he seemed to have completely forgotten about the things she had stolen from him.

This is nice... she thought to herself as she got up from her seat and gently moved toward Cain, sitting on his lap without hesitation, as if it were something she had done dozens of times and had become a habit.

Raising her hand to rub the tips of his hair near his forehead, she asked again, "Are you okay?" Her concern was evident on her face, and she wasn’t surprised to feel his hold on her waist tighten ever so slightly as he pulled her closer until their lips were barely touching.

Whispering to her in a low voice, he said, "A kiss would make me feel better," before she could open her mouth to respond. He kissed her, parting her lips and kissing her wildly until she was gripping his shoulders and out of breath.

Violet had just felt him pull away, thinking he was about to let her go, when he suddenly stood, lifting her off his lap with one hand and sliding all the leftover dishes on the table to one side. He laid her back on the table, her legs hanging off the edge.

"Cain!" she gasped, a light smile on her face as she read his thoughts even before he acted on them. He moved to grab her breasts, squeezing them gently with a hungry look in his eyes.

"No!" she told him, slapping his hands away and trying to sit up, only to feel Cain’s arms cage her in as he lowered his torso to cover hers.

"No?" he asked, his hands already sliding up her thighs in a way that made her breath hitch. She tried to stop him, but his grip tightened, and she raised her eyes to meet the intensity of his gaze.

"Yes?" he asked, his expression almost pouting, which made her want to laugh. She was surprised to see such a look on his usually blank face, making him appear like a dog begging for a treat from its master.

Violet couldn’t help but chuckle as she stretched her hands to the back of his neck, ruffling the tips of his blonde hair. She whispered to him in a low, somewhat shy tone, "If everything goes well, I’ll give you a treat when we come back!" Her cheeks reddened as she spoke, and she saw a hint of a smile appear on the corners of his lips as he leaned in to kiss her again, his warm breath mixing with hers before he finally pulled back.

"Fine! We’ll do things your way," Cain said in a low, hoarse tone, his gaze never leaving hers as he backed away. Violet hurriedly smoothed the short, frilly gown she wore, internally wondering if the ease of access was the main reason Cain loved to see her in them.

Maybe I should invest in more shorts, she thought, her face growing hotter as she realized that, at this point, Cain knew all the colors of her underwear every time she wore them.

A while later, they walked side by side as they headed down and out of the mansion to the car waiting for them. Only one other car, filled with bodyguards, accompanied them since they were only heading to the hospital and not leaving the district.

Violet had just settled in with Cain by her side when she heard him speak. "You can’t be comfortable that way," he said the moment she leaned her head against his shoulder. He picked her up the next second, as if she weren’t a grown woman—albeit a slender one—and placed her on his lap, where he preferred her to sit.

Violet chuckled in amusement as he patted her back, gesturing for her to lay her head on his chest, ignoring how wrinkled his shirt would be by the time they reached the hospital.

"Cain!" she sighed, gently doing as he wanted, placing her head closer to his shoulder with ease, considering their height difference. Her attention shifted to the environment outside as the car zoomed through streets and past buildings she hadn’t seen before, making her wonder if they were still in the same district.

She raised her head in wonder, her eyes widening as she took in the sight of supermarkets and other tall, brilliant buildings. Having spent most of her life in the lower section of the district, and even when she moved to the upper section, she had spent all her time inside the mansion, this was a new experience for her.

Her eyes were wild with excitement as she couldn’t stop staring out the window. The longer she looked, the more she couldn’t wait to get out of the car. Cain noticed her excitement.

"You look excited," he mumbled into her ear, his lips brushing against it. Violet ignored him and nodded her head, her gaze still fixed on the world outside.
