Mated to the Mad Lord-Chapter 336: Who healed me?
Cain didn’t hesitate to deploy all the resources he could. Sending more letters to Vazer even when it was clear that he was avoiding him but he didn’t care.
The only reason he still had an element of calm was because there were obvious signs that Violet had left willingly by herself and hadn’t been coerced by someone else.
Still, who tell someone you love them only to leave them the very next day! Cain thought standing in front of a massive window in his room with an unlit cigarette in his mouth.
It was a habit he had quit but at that very moment he was very much tempted to dive right in and light it.
He was angry at her but somehow he had bottled up all that anger until he came face to face with her intent on getting an explanation if it was the last thing he did.
A silent moment passed as he continued to stare down at the garden his parents had cherished aware that no matter how hard he had tried to erase and forget the fact that they had died in the very house he lived in Violet was the only thing that helped.
In what world did you think we could ever be apart! he wondered, his brows slightly furrowed together as he kept trying to sense her through the bond they shared only to realize that it was weak and not as strong as before.
Frustrated he had a guard call Uva into his room who arrived a few moments later with her head bowed.
She wasn’t using her real face but instead it was that of a young human woman with brown eyes but that did nothing to hide the fear in her eyes as she bowed her head.
Cain had concentrated on finding Violet which meant that he had largely ignored her something she had been thankful for only to be suddenly called into his wing something she didn’t consider to be a good thing.
"My lord" Uva said with a low bow the second she entered but the air in the room was enough to tell that Cain was beyond pissed as he slowly began to speak in a calm tone that bordered on chaos.
"Do you know where she is?" he asked her even as Uva instantly shook her head relieved that she had no clue but worried since it was clear that Cain didn’t believe her.
Worse she had used all her magic when it came to helping him and it would take much too long for her to accumulate more in the magic storage all witches had next to their heart.
If you were leaving why didn’t you take me with you or at least warn me! she thought annoyed and would have been pissed if not that she was confident that Violet wasn’t as cruel as Lady June and wouldn’t hurt her on purpose.
"No my lord I have no idea!" Uva responded after vigorously shaking her head only to feel her heart sink when she felt the full weight of Cain’s gaze descend fully on her.
The tension in the air only seemed to worsen even talking felt twice as hard even as she spoke regardless.
"I really have no clue Lord Cain I wouldn’t lie to you!" Uva said even as she felt him slowly walk in her direction. He was much taller and more muscular than her and he easily towered over her but it wasn’t his size that scared her.
It was what he could do to her especially since there was a reason he was known as the ’Mad Lord’ even before he massacred his servants.
"You say that but without Violet how am I to be sure? Wouldn’t the best thing be to carve open your heart and find out whether or not it’s filled with lies!" she heard him speak and her heart skipped aware that when Cain began to make threats it wasn’t because he had no intention to do it. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Swallowing the large gulp in her throat Uva made a decision that even if Lady June was going to take revenge on her she would need to be alive to be scared of her.
"You were sick and getting worse I had to call in a more powerful witch to help Violet insisted on it!" Uva confessed prepared to heap all the offense on Violet considering it was her neck in danger and not Violet’s.
"I know that" Cain responded. It had been clear from how Uva had made it clear that she could research the problem but the cure or anything remotely close to it still eluded her.
"...you were able to find someone that could completely cure me?" he asked having previously thought it was a temporary fix.
"I’m not sure Lord Cain All I know is that she was able to wake you up when it became clear that your condition was detoriating faster than it should" Uva pointed out gaze still fixed on the ground even when silence settled between them.
All she wanted to do was return back to her room and mini lab but it soon became clear that she wouldn’t be able to.
"What’s her name?" Lord Cain asked and Uva had never regretted anything in her life more than the next two words that came out of her mouth.
"Lady June" she instantly responded seeing nothing wrong with it and hoping that Cain would dismiss her right after she had answered all his questions only to suddenly find her feet being lifted off the ground and a tight grip around her neck one that threatened to choke the life out of her.
Uva instantly grabbed his hands with all her strength but she could do nothing. Absolutely nothing with no magic she could call on even as tears began to fill her eyes and her legs dangled in the air with Cain’s face right up against her own.
"Did you just say Lady June?" he asked his voice deep as he growled right into her face spittle flying and all the strength in his hand making it clear that if he had been pissed before he was furious now.
