Medical and Martial God-Chapter 176: The Reverse Espionage Stratagem
Soon, Kuroki Suzu returned with a group of people, fifteen in total.
"These are my family and Miyamoto Satoshi’s," Kuroki Suzu said. "My father, mother, and sister, as well as Miyamoto Satoshi’s three sons, one daughter, four grandsons, two granddaughters, and his daughter’s two sons. Now do you believe in the sincerity of our defection?"
Ye Xiu scrutinized the family members of Kuroki Suzu and Miyamoto Satoshi one by one, then gave Chloe a pointed look. She immediately sent a text message.
A moment later, four servants pulled up in four cars.
"Everyone, please get in," Chloe said to the two families.
"Do as she says!" Kuroki Suzu told her family and Miyamoto Satoshi’s.
At once, both families obediently climbed into the cars. The vehicles then started up and drove away from the small island where Ye Xiu lived.
"Does this mean you’ve agreed to take us in?" Kuroki Suzu asked Ye Xiu.
"When did I agree?" Ye Xiu retorted.
Kuroki Suzu and Miyamoto Satoshi froze. "If you haven’t agreed," Kuroki Suzu asked, "then where are you having our families taken?"
"They’ve been kidnapped by me. Didn’t you realize that?" Ye Xiu asked with a smile.
Kuroki Suzu and Miyamoto Satoshi exchanged glances, completely failing to understand what Ye Xiu was saying.
"Mutou Bingyuan sent you to be his undercover agents, didn’t he?" Ye Xiu asked with a smile.
His words made Kuroki Suzu’s heart skip a beat, but she maintained her composure. "I don’t understand what you’re saying," she said.
Miyamoto Satoshi was even more baffled. "Mutou Bingyuan is dead! His body is right here. How could he possibly order us to be your undercover agents? We came to you with sincere intentions."
"Stop pretending," Ye Xiu said playfully. "The body on the ground isn’t Mutou Bingyuan’s. The real one isn’t dead at all."
Kuroki Suzu was scared witless. But he could just be bluffing. "I really don’t understand what you mean," she replied. "This man on the ground is indeed Mutou Bingyuan. As a Divine Doctor, you should be able to tell if he’s dead with a single glance."
"I’m not bluffing," Ye Xiu stated.
"Everything I’ve said is the truth," Kuroki Suzu replied, her expression grave.
"What’s this? Getting into character?" Ye Xiu chuckled. "If I’m not mistaken, Mutou Bingyuan only sent you to be my undercover agent, alone. He never gave you permission to bring your family, or Miyamoto Satoshi’s, to Jin Ye City, did he?"
Kuroki Suzu panicked. She suddenly realized Ye Xiu probably wasn’t bluffing. Mutou Bingyuan truly hadn’t ordered Miyamoto Satoshi to become an undercover agent, nor had he instructed them to bring their families to Jin Ye City.
"You may be powerful, but you have no experience as an undercover agent," Ye Xiu said calmly. "You barely even have any experience in the martial world. According to your Tiansha Association’s intel, I’m just a Great Grandmaster. You’re a War God. A War God defecting to a mere Great Grandmaster? Even a fool would find that suspicious.
"Normally, if a War God like you truly betrayed the Tiansha Association, you’d seek refuge with a faction of equal or greater strength. That’s the only way to avoid being hunted down and eliminated. What possible benefit could you gain by defecting to me?"
Kuroki Suzu was stunned. He really did see through my entire plan.
"Lady Kuroki Suzu, is what Ye Xiu said true?" Miyamoto Satoshi asked, shocked.
"It’s true." Seeing no point in pretending any longer, Kuroki Suzu admitted everything.
Miyamoto Satoshi nearly coughed up blood in anger. "Then why didn’t you tell me the truth sooner?"
"I was planning to get settled here as an undercover agent before reporting to the Young Master. I just never expected Ye Xiu to see through me," Kuroki Suzu said with a bitter smile.
"You’ve completely screwed us over!" Miyamoto Satoshi raged.
"Shut up!" Kuroki Suzu snapped.
Miyamoto Satoshi fell silent.
"You’re a fool, Ye Xiu. You shouldn’t have exposed me so openly," Kuroki Suzu said, glaring coldly at him.
"What’s that supposed to mean?" Ye Xiu asked with a smile.
"You’re a mere Great Grandmaster, while I’m a War God. Killing you would be child’s play," Kuroki Suzu said coldly.
"Don’t forget your family is in my hands," Ye Xiu replied.
"So what?" Kuroki Suzu snorted. "I can capture you alive and use you to trade for my family."
"That’s a nice idea. Give it a try." Ye Xiu stood up and stretched lazily. "Come on. Show me how you’re going to capture me alive."
The words had barely left his mouth when Kuroki Suzu struck. They were barely two meters apart. For a War God like her, such a distance was negligible. She took a single step forward with her left foot, her right foot shooting directly toward Ye Xiu’s chest. She put her full power into the kick, intending to cripple him in a single blow.
Miyamoto Satoshi watched with confidence. She’s a War God. Capturing a mere Great Grandmaster like Ye Xiu should be absurdly easy.
However, just as her foot was about to land, Ye Xiu sidestepped, narrowly avoiding the blow. His right hand then shot out like lightning, grabbing her ankle. With a powerful twist, he swung her around and threw her.
"Nice form," Ye Xiu remarked playfully, "but you’re lacking a bit in power and speed."
Kuroki Suzu flew seven or eight meters before crashing to the ground, her face pale. "This... You... you’re a War God?"
Miyamoto Satoshi’s expression changed as well. Ye Xiu had deflected her kick with such ease; he definitely possessed the power of a War God.
"Feel free to try again," Ye Xiu said with a smile.
"Fine, I will!" Kuroki Suzu shouted, charging at him again.
This time, Ye Xiu didn’t wait for her to reach him; he lunged forward to meet her. The two instantly engaged in fierce combat. Ye Xiu was careful not to reveal the full extent of his power, only maintaining a slight edge over her. After a few moments, he disengaged with a sudden leap backward.
"So," he said mockingly, "do you still think you can capture me to trade for your family?"
Kuroki Suzu’s expression turned grim. Ye Xiu was clearly stronger than she was. The idea of capturing him alive was nothing but a pipe dream.
"What do you plan to do with my family?" she asked.
"How I treat your family depends entirely on how obedient you are," Ye Xiu replied, settling back onto the doorstep with a lazy drawl.
"What do you mean?" Kuroki Suzu asked.
"I want to have a battle of wits with Mutou Bingyuan," Ye Xiu said. "And for that, I need you to be my mole."
A counter-espionage plot? Kuroki Suzu instantly understood what he meant.
She almost coughed up blood. Mutou Bingyuan had sent her to be his undercover agent, and now Ye Xiu was turning her into a double agent against him. It looked like Ye Xiu was still a cut above Mutou Bingyuan.
"And if I refuse? What will happen to my family?" Kuroki Suzu asked.
"They’ll die," Ye Xiu said simply.
Kuroki Suzu was silent.
Great. I’m completely at his mercy.
"I have no experience as an undercover agent," she said. "You’ll have to tell me exactly what to do."
