Chapter 690: Chapter 690: Sharing Hardships and Happiness

Shane Warner was waiting by the surgical elevator doors for Audrey Sutton. She lay in the hospital bed, awake, but her face looked extremely weary.

"Audrey."

Upon hearing the voice, Audrey turned her head and saw Shane Warner standing beside the elevator as soon as she was wheeled out. Her previously calm expression instantly softened, her eyes turned red, and tears began to tell him just how frightened she had been going through all that alone in the delivery room...

Shane followed the bed closely, tightly held her hand, wiped away the tears from her face, and bent down to kiss her forehead. "You’ve worked hard, wife."

Audrey pursed her lips, tears flowing more intensely, and she slightly tightened her grip on the hand Shane was holding.

Even though she was now a mother, she was still a little girl who relied on him when she was with him.

The staff pushed Audrey into the ward, reminded her of some precautions, and then left.

Shane sat by the bedside, using a tissue to wipe the tears and sweat off her hairline.

Audrey had calmed down a bit and asked him, "Where’s the baby?"

Shane said, "Mom and the others are upstairs, they’ll bring him down in a moment. Who does he resemble?"

Audrey pouted and grumbled at him, "What kind of father are you? Your own child was born, and you didn’t even stay by the delivery room door to take a look."

Shane chuckled and said, "I was afraid someone would cry if they didn’t see me."

Audrey smiled faintly with pressed lips and said, "Give me your phone. I can lie here alone. You go upstairs and have a look. I think he looks like you. Also, he seems to be a little gluttonous; while other babies were sleeping quietly next to their moms in the observation room, he started getting restless after just half an hour. The nurse let me try feeding him a bit myself, didn’t have much milk, so he drank a bit of formula, and finally settled down."

Shane pulled out his cellphone from his pocket and handed it to her, saying, "That must be like you."

Audrey took the phone and lay in bed, scrolling through the screen, saying, "I need to notify his godmothers. You should go upstairs and hold your son for a bit. You should experience the job of a father."

Just then, Phoebe King and Stephen Sutton found their way to the ward. With Phoebe there to chat with Audrey, Shane finally returned to standing outside the delivery room.

Coincidentally, the doctor was just wheeling out the little baby from the delivery room; the little guy was sleeping nicely with closed eyes.

Hazel Yates was beside, teaching Shane, while the nurse helped him, guiding Shane’s clumsy hands to hold the baby in his arms.

The little one was so soft. Shane stiffened with his arms, afraid to move an inch, worried he might hurt this little creature.

Finally, as the little guy was taken out, the group grandly exited the family area outside the delivery room.

Upon hearing the news, Seraphina Vaughn drove Barry Barrett and Flora Lane to the hospital. A bunch of people were gathered around Audrey Sutton’s bedside, chatting away lively.

The little guy lay in the infant bed, sleeping quietly and not causing any worries for now.

Shane, as the dad, appeared a bit redundant standing to the side.

After a while, Hazel Yates said, "It’s getting late, let’s all go home and have lunch together, and let Audrey rest for a while. Shane, what do you want to eat? I’ll bring it over for you later."

Shane looked at Audrey and said, "Whatever Audrey eats, I’ll eat."

Hazel teased, "Audrey might only be able to have some porridge today. You should eat something better. For the next few days, Audrey can’t get out of bed; you’ll have to handle things."

Audrey said, "He wants to share my hardships, then give him white porridge!"

Hazel laughed, "I’m afraid if I only bring white porridge, someone might end up feeling hurt."

Audrey replied stubbornly, "What’s there to feel hurt about? I am having porridge myself, why can’t he?"

Hazel looked at Shane and said, "Look at the wife you married."

Audrey said, "Mom, who is your real child here?"

"Alright, you didn’t rest well last night, take advantage of the baby’s peace and get some sleep. We are leaving now."

Hazel led the "troop" away, and the ward became quiet.

Shane gently closed the door, only to hear Audrey say, "Bring the baby over next to me, I want to see him."

Shane walked to the infant bed, took a look, and said, "The little guy is sleeping peacefully, don’t disturb him awake. Plus, the way you sleep... I’m worried that you might kick him off the bed without even knowing."

Audrey said, "How could that be? I barely turned over once my belly became big. Besides, I haven’t slept well every night, now that this big ball is gone, I should be able to sleep better."

Shane chuckled, "You’re daydreaming. Mom said outside the delivery room earlier that when you were little, you weren’t an easy baby. You would cry at night. You better hope the son doesn’t take after you."

Audrey, fiddling with her phone, replied, "Stop jinxing us."

Shane tucked the baby’s blanket, then reached over to take Audrey’s phone away, "Get some sleep."

Three days later, Audrey was discharged from the hospital.

To make it easier to take care of Audrey, she chose to do her postpartum stay at her mother’s house.

Firstly, there would always be people around at home to look after; secondly, Laura Yates and Phoebe King were here to chat with Audrey, keeping her from getting too bored.

Shane spent most of his time by Audrey’s side, handing off activities that didn’t require his personal appearance to Vincent Warner and Julian Bishop; otherwise, Faye Xavier would come to the house to update him on work progress.

A week after the baby’s birth, Audrey’s grandfather and grandmother came from their hometown, and Grandpa named the child Weston Warner.

Grandma said that Grandpa had come up with a bunch of names back home but ultimately chose this one, saying it has a smooth ring to it, and it signifies "going with the flow and finding peace."

Grandma also found an expert to ensure the name suited the baby’s birth chart, stating it’s a great match.

Shane and Audrey both liked the name, and everyone was quite satisfied.

This stirred up complaints from Scott Sutton, "Grandpa, when I was born, why didn’t you give me a nice name?"

Grandpa said, "You are from the ’Scott’ generation; your name is pretty good too."

Scott Sutton frowned, "What’s so good about it? People have always assumed it’s a girl’s name."

Samuel Sutton couldn’t help but rant again, "Your hairstyle fits your name rather well."

Scott Sutton replied, "Dad, you’ve got to keep up with the trends; long hair isn’t reserved only for girls."

Samuel Sutton shot him a glance and said, "The ’Snow’ character isn’t exclusive to girls either."

Scott Sutton said, "Fine, fine, I can’t argue with you. Let’s eat."
