Chapter 74- Impossible

As the situation got completely chaotic, many of the insects started taking over the Undead bodies. With each touch, many fell, and small larvae were planted into their bodies to grow fully in control over them.

Jack could see it in real time as more and more victims fell to this disgusting species. Not even the Undead were safe, and it only made Jack even more mortified by these creatures. They were far worse than plagues and even illnesses; the way they spread was far too quick, even by the ridiculous standards of this new, evolved world.

"Great... Just great... They didn’t even have a chance against these things..." Jack muttered. "It’s pointless to turn them into undead when they are already going to be controlled anyway..."

The only true way to stop these things is to kill every single one of them and wipe them out completely, something that would require immense effort and power. Something that Jack wasn’t certain he could pull off on his own or even with the help of his friends.

A few against millions wasn’t particularly a fair or even possible match-up. They had to bring an army with them, one that is capable of taking down monsters themselves.

"Damn all of this..." Clicking his tongue, Jack continued climbing the pipe till he reached the top of the building and stared down at the monsters. The brawl was still going as brutally as ever, a sea of blood covered the street quickly, and the smell of rotting corpses and the nasty insects filled the air.

Even at a high altitude, Jack could smell it, and it was far from anything he would wish anyone would ever experience.

Standing there, he watched in silence. His expression was grim and dark, completely dissatisfied with everything.

"Ugh... Goddamit." Rubbing his head aggressively, he looked up. "What should I even do, man? This is so annoying."

He hated how much he was clueless as to what to do. He can’t even kill this group on his own, and he had to deal with an army hundreds of times its size... What could he even do at his current level?

There wasn’t even enough time for him to get strong enough to face such a threat. On top of that, the only person to know what to do had disappeared completely and is nowhere to be seen.

It has been an entire day since Liliana vanished, and at this point, Jack decided to simply not put her into the equation. He can’t risk keeping the hope that she will appear again and then end up being proportionally disappointed.

"Ok, good things... The Undead are wiped and won’t have to worry about that. Bad things, now I have to worry about even more insects and will probably have to do something about their queen." He muttered.

Speaking of the queen, Jack pulled her out of his pocket and inspected her. The creature was clearly terrified and anxious as she kept wiggling left and right, trying to escape so she could go back to her followers.

"Should I just kill her at this point?" Jack muttered. "Maybe that would have some sort of result? I mean, they are clearly heavily linked to their queen. Perhaps killing her would make them stop, or die... Or they would be enraged and attack me."

Either way, Jack really can’t do much else. Fighting wasn’t an option anymore and escaping isn’t either.

Staring at the wiggling creature, Jack contemplated for a moment. The repercussions from this could be devastating, as much as they could be rewarding. If it were only him, then he would not hesitate, but because there are many innocent lives involved and their death would be because of his doing, he was lost.

"..." Biting his lower lip, he sucked a deep breath. "This is the only choice, Jack. This is the only real choice I have."

A huge burden it was, Jack eventually made up his mind. There was no point in fearing the outcome; he had to face a disaster either way. Might as well do it on his own terms rather than the terms of these things.

So, with that in mind, he crouched down and pinned the insect to the ground.

"No hard feelings. You will have to die." He said coldly. Then, he charged his hand with lightning. "Make it useful for me, would you?"

*BANG*

With a loud explosion, the lightning exploded on the insect’s body, burning it to a crisp.

[You have killed Namok Queen.]

[You gained +10000 experience points.]

[You have leveled up 5 times.]

[You have gained +20 points in all stats.]

[You have gained a new skill.]

[You have gained a new title.]

"Huh?!" Jack blurted out as he felt his body was injected with so much power that he fell to the ground. It was an intense sensation, one he had never felt before in his life. Every fiber of his being shuddered, every cell morphed and changed, every bone hardened and changed.

His vision started improving in real time, revealing more and more details to the shocked boy. His senses felt like another layer of limitation was shattered, and he could see the world in a new way.

"What the hell..."

His aura flared, his body healed from all the injuries, and a weird substance started leaking out of his body. A black, thick substance that he didn’t know the source of. Its smell was horrendous, and it immediately pooled around him as it kept leaking out of his body.

For a few moments, Jack was immobilized. However, eventually, the incredible surge of power came to a stop, and the boy finally could breathe as he rose from the ground. He stared at his body.

"What came out of me? I feel so... different..."

He couldn’t describe the sensation quite well. But, Jack felt lighter, his skin glistened better, looked way purer and spotless. He also didn’t feel... dirty anymore, as if his body had always been tarnished and now it was finally cleansed and rebuilt.

Aside from that, he felt so powerful that merely clenching his fist felt like a dangerous weapon. His senses were way sharper; he could see better, smell better, and even hear farther and sense things way more efficiently.

His Aether increased tremendously, and his awareness of everything around him jumped a huge step.

"Who thought that thing would give me so much? It wasn’t even that strong. Why did it give me so much power?"

Staring at the burnt corpse of the insect, Jack was completely confused. The amount of experience points this thing gave him was enough to eclipse everything he had fought so far combined. That was something that shouldn’t be possible.

Yet, this thing was seemingly carrying enough experience points to be considered the strongest enemy Jack had ever killed.

"I’m only learning more and more about these things as I go." Standing up, he picked up his sword and started walking to the edge.

Staring down, he noticed something weird immediately. All the insects stopped moving and suddenly stared up directly at him. They froze, their bodies not moving even though there were still many Undead not killed.

They were being bitten and killed, and yet they refused to move or even resist. Their focus was all on him.

The boy felt a chill run down his spine, but he didn’t look away. He felt that something was about to happen that he must witness.

A few seconds later, the group of insects suddenly started screeching loudly. Moving their disgusting mouths, they made extremely sharp noises that pierced Jack’s ear.

It was a loud cry, one that carried immense anger, and he could tell that. Then, all at the same time, the creatures turned around and started running. All the dozens of them started moving fast through the street in a cluster as they headed deeper into the city, somewhere beyond Jack’s vision.

However, he could immediately guess where they’re heading.

"Probably they’re going back to the nest." He muttered as he quickly looked down at the undead and then turned around. "I need to get back to the base immediately."

He was worried they might try to attack the place again while he’s absent. He wouldn’t be surprised if they had such intelligence with them.

Running down the stairs, Jack quickly emerged into the street. Some Undead noticed his presence and tried to attack him. However, at this point, the boy was a completely different kind of beast.

Without even needing to move or raise his hand, he severed their heads like a flash. His arm moved so fast that it appeared like a glint of light that passed through and disappeared.

"This is amazing..." He muttered. "It feels like my arm is completely weightless. There is no air resistance or muscle spasms... I can move it however I want." 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

It was a feeling akin to being unbound by everything. Gaining that many stat points in such a short burst was just... Addictive beyond words.

Sucking a deep breath, he looked at the rest of the Undead as he brandished his sword.

"Get out of my way."

*Swish*

*Meanwhile, back at the base*

Luna worked hard to contain the situation. After Jack left, she tried to calm the crowds down and organize them while searching for more Larvae as much as possible.

Everything was chaotic, and the girl found herself struggling. However, with a stern and cold tone, she stopped being gentle and started giving harsh orders. With her power, that was easy, as she could impose her presence on them.

Meanwhile, her mind was completely far away, thinking about her beloved. She was extremely worried that things might’ve gone wrong. That the insects caught him.
