Chapter 680

“Thank the divines, you’re back. You’ve been gone for several days, and I feared that something had happened to you,” Anton’s father said, who rushed at him and hugged him.

“Actually, I’ve been here in my room for the last four days,” Anton admitted to his father sheepishly.

Anders stared at him, and so did the others. Impressively, Raymond, the family butler, remained expressionless.

“What happened?! Why did you stay here?” Anders asked after a few seconds of silence.

Anton looked at everyone, and his father noticed that he did not want to talk about it. So he told the others that Anton would talk to them later. Luna and Alfred went and hugged him and told him that they were glad that he was back. So did Romina, Bruce, and Susan, and then they left the room.

Raymond also left after making sure that the food that he brought was laid down neatly on the table near the balcony overlooking the gardens. The soft platter of the mana rain that Anton cast brought calming music to the manor.

Anton and his father sat at the table, and they started eating the food that the butler had prepared.

“The three kingdoms had the handle of the fight against the Undead Coalition. They gave independent volunteers like me a choice since they’re basically telling us that our services are not needed anymore. The choices were to form an independent group that would complete missions, join an already established group, join the formal army, or just quit. My captain advised me to quit, saying I’m young and should be pursuing an education, so I followed his advice and went home. I was a little tired, so I decided to rest.”

“For four days, without telling anyone?!” Anton’s father exclaimed.

“I’m sorry about that. I just want to rest and watch movies and television shows without anyone disturbing me.”

“You could have told Raymond and requested not to be disturbed! At least we would know that you’re safe. I was ready to travel to New Drennor to look for you!” Anders scolded him.

Anton apologized profusely until Anders was calm.

“Travel between Ormunda and New Drennor will be extremely dangerous. The armies of the Undead Coalition are there, and there are high-level undead wizards lurking about. Since I’ve closed the portal to return there, I would not be able to go back there safely,” Anton told his father.

“What will you do next?”

“I will rest for a few more days. I’ll give movies to Romina so she’ll have the resources to continue the cinema without any issues. I’ll also look into confirming my status as a Supreme Rank wizard that doesn’t require me to join any organization. If it’s too bothersome, then I’ll probably not pursue it. How are the four young mages that I’ve brought?”

“They’re doing fine. Raymond hired a level four wizard to be their tutor, and according to their new teacher, they’re very competent. Whenever I’m home, I lend their leader the Insight Spear so their training is expedited. It’s a good idea for our family to have loyal and powerful wizards.”

“Have you read our contract with those guys? I gave the copy to Raymond. What do you think about the conditions?”

“It’s more than fair. Generous actually. According to Raymond, all the advantages are for those young men. They knew it, and I know they’re feeling guilty, especially when they finally realized that you’re not an old wizard pretending to be young but their actual age. Everyone told them that you’re probably more innocent than them,” Anders said, then laughed heartily.

“Hey! I’m not an innocent. I’ve been to the Angel Palace!” Anton shouted, but he was blushing hard. Anders just rolled his eyes at him.

Anton had to admit that he had very little social experience with others, and an experienced merchant could one-up him without any problem.

‘Kirk, Mesono, Abdul, and Omar do consume a lot of resources, but thankfully, our family is extremely rich,” Anders continued.

“We are?”

“Our businesses earn a lot of coins, and my delving also earns the family a lot of wealth. My team is the envy of a lot of adventurers, and there are a lot of them applying to be part of our team. Unfortunately, the abilities of my legendary spear spread. Even though it was only rumors, some people looked greedily upon our family. Thankfully, they were deterred by my power and the fact that the family has a Supreme Rank wizard.”

“What kind of abilities that your spear supposed to have? If it’s about how fast the leveling of our people, wizards would have been involved by now,” Anton asked worriedly.

“No. The rumors are that the spear has powerful healing and damaging skills,” Anders laughed, and Anton joined him.

Those kinds of abilities did not interest wizards, and anyone with a good head on their shoulder would be able to confirm that the healing abilities came from Anders and not from any weapon. They would then come to the conclusion that Anton’s father stumbled into a powerful, unique class that was not truly that rare in Ormunda. Anyone could have something like it with enough wealth.

“I think I need to prioritize confirming my status as a Supreme Rank wizard,” Anton sighed.

Father and son both knew that confirming the rank would give a little protection to the family.

“Well, you don’t have to think about that now and rest for a bit first,” Anton’s father said.

Anders hugged his son, then left the room. His father even brought the empty dishes with him. He felt stupid for worrying his family. Anders was correct. He could have told the butler that he was back, and if he asked not to be disturbed, Raymond would make sure that he would not be disturbed.

Once he was alone, Anton cast the Blizzard spell, turned into Mana Rain, since he still wanted to hear the soft patter of rain. He then spent the next couple of hours playing his guitar and singing some songs. When noon arrived, no one disturbed him, which made him grateful. Anton changed his clothes to more comfortable sleepwear and buried himself on his bed again. He still felt a little down, so he spent his time watching anime and reading novels. He was thankful that the family was comfortable enough that he could indulge himself.

Anton checked his account on the most famous streaming video website, since he had uploaded some song covers. They garnered a lot of views, and there were questions about why he stopped. He looked handsome enough, and he had a good singing voice, which was why he now had fans, but the fact that he stopped for a long time meant that his fans dwindled slowly. He thought of uploading more covers, but he still felt lazy, so he just continued watching movies and reading books.

The next day, when he woke up. Anton felt invigorated. When he went outside his room, Raymond suddenly appeared as if he had teleported. The butler led him to the kitchen, where he joined everyone for breakfast. Luna and Alfred requested the next episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender, so he gave them the next three episodes. He told them to record them quickly, though, since he needed the little globes of browser sharing since he planned to give movies to Romina.

While eating, Anton asked Raymond to learn what he needed to do to confirm his rank as a Supreme Wizard, and the butler assured him that he would give him the information in a few hours.
