My five ghostly husbands-Chapter 220 Renovation (1)
Chapter 220: Chapter 220 Renovation (1)
After signing contract with that witch, the place was now hers...
Her first real workplace.
It still felt little strange calling it company space... but it was hers now. She have bought it with her hard earned money. The empty walls... quiet rooms... everything waiting to be filled with her dreams.
Because of walking so much from these days, her body was used to long walks... she didn’t even sweat like before. Her fitness was also getting better without realising.
The sun was little warm but not harsh, and market was slowly getting crowded.
She walked quickly through familiar dirt roads, her eyes focused.
She had seen a renovation board last time she visited here... now she just have to find them and talk about how she wanted her workplace to be built.
She had already spent 200 gems to buy that property.
It was actually cheaper than the first place she had checked... and honestly, a better deal. Now, she had only 50 gems left in her budget to use for renovation and furniture. It wasn’t much, but she believed she could manage if she handled things smartly.
Finally, after asking two vendors and walking around, she found the place she was looking for.
A simple board was hanging outside, with painted words: "Jenna’s Renovation & Paints – We Build Your Dreams."
It was a local shop..nothing too fancy, but popular enough. The building was made from infused glass, which reflected light beautifully and made the shop look bigger from outside. Ruby stepped in quietly.
Inside, the place had a bright lighting. The floor was tiled with smooth stones, and the air smelled faintly of paint and fresh wood. Near the entrance was a small reception desk where a witch with sharp glasses and neat hair was talking to a customer. A few other workers were busy checking catalogues and color charts. One witch passed by in overalls, half her robe stained in white and grey paint, as she walked through the second door.
"Hello! How can I help you?" the receptionist witch asked politely, giving Ruby a professional smile as the customer she was talking to left, gently holding the door open behind them.
Ruby smiled faintly and stepped closer to the desk.
"I want to renovate my place," Ruby said calmly, standing at the reception with her hands folded.
"Okay, let me call someone," the receptionist nodded and turned slightly, calling out behind her, "Annie!"
Soon, a young witch appeared, her ponytail bouncing slightly as she walked over. Ruby’s eyes flicked to her robes and instantly froze.
Annie was actually wearing one of her robes.
Her design.
Her logo.
Annie’s eyes widened too as she recognized her. "Aren’t you the robe seller—Miss Ruby from the fair?" she asked in surprise, her voice cheerful.
Ruby smiled softly, trying to stay calm, though her heart warmed a little seeing someone actually using her robe in daily life. "Yes," she nodded.
The receptionist smiled too. "Ma’am, she wants to renovate her place," she explained to Annie.
"Oh!" Annie’s eyes lit up with understanding, and she gave Ruby a respectful nod. "Please follow me, Miss Ruby."
Ruby followed her through a glass-paneled corridor, admiring the elegant space. There were antique vases lined neatly on the shelves, wooden counters, and clean tiles that reflected the bright lighting above.
Annie pulled aside a brown vintage curtain, revealing a private consultation room.
The room had an old charm to it...soft, muted lights, a low classic coffee table in the middle, brown velvet sofas, and beautiful paintings hanging along the walls, which were all made of slightly tinted glass. It smelled of aged wood and faint herbs, a peaceful but professional space.
"Please, have a seat," Annie gestured, and Ruby sat down as a young helper witch entered silently, placing a glass of water and a small plate of snacks on the table.
"Thank you," Ruby said with a small nod.
Annie sat across from her, folding her hands politely. "Let’s get straight to business. So, do you want to renovate your house?"
Ruby shook her head slightly. "Actually, yes and no. The place I want to renovate looks like a house..but I want to turn it into my office and workspace."
"Ah, I see," Annie nodded. "That’s actually something we’ve done for a few clients. Now, do you already have a theme in mind? We also offer full interior design services along with the renovation. You can take a look at some of our past designs," she said, picking up a thick book from the coffee table and handing it to Ruby.
Ruby opened the book and flipped through its pages.
Her brows slowly drew together.
Almost all of the designs were heavy...gothic, classic, and haunted looking. Dark wood, black trims, gray walls, brown flooring... even orange curtains. All were beautiful in their own way but none of them had the fresh, clean, minimal style Ruby wanted.
There were no bright colors.
No modern elegance.
No fresh whites, muted pastels, gold tones, or calming simplicity.
Ruby sighed inside. This wasn’t going to be easy.
She looked through a few more pages of the design book, flipping slowly, her fingers brushing against the thick paper. Most of the designs were gloomy, outdated, heavy... and not her vibe at all. Not even close. After a few more glances, Ruby finally closed the book with a soft thud and placed it back on the coffee table. Her red eyes met Annie’s calmly, but firmly.
"Miss Annie," Ruby began, her voice quiet but steady, "I want my designs customised by me. I’ve already imagined how it should look. You and your team can handle the structural and functional parts—but I want the theme, layout, and interior vision to be my own."
Annie blinked, clearly a little surprised. For a moment, she looked away like she was thinking how to respond. But then she gave a small nod and smiled politely, meeting Ruby’s gaze again.
"That’s fine. We can work with that," Annie replied. "Would you like to tell me more about your plan now? Like... when do you want to start? Any ideas you already have?"
"I want to start from tomorrow," Ruby said instantly. "And I want it to be completed within a week or a bit more if needed. I don’t want to drag it too long. There’s a lot waiting ahead."
