New World with Four Husbands-Chapter 598: Richard and Lala?!
Zaque made his way down to the basement, Kairo following silently and anxiously behind him.
He knew that Kairo had seen Richard and Lala down there, and he had a feeling he knew why— Richard is a king beast and Lala is his creator.
Aren’t their dynamics supposed to be something like a master and a familiar? Similar to Coco and Sinclair? Lala probably wanted to order Richard around and had him holed up in the basement.
The basement has soil and whatnot in it anyway.
Sure enough, as they descended the stairs, the faint glow of candlelight flickered through the darkness, guiding them deeper into the basement and as they turned the final corner..
There he was, Richard, sitting on his bed, in the shadows, but not the exact position Zaque expected him to be in.
Zaque’s breath stopped.
His heart dropped like a stone, his entire body freezing mid-step as the sight in front of him registered.
There, on Richard’s makeshift bed, was a woman with red hair and was curled against him like she belonged there. And worse? Richard was asleep beneath her.. His arm wrapped around her waist, fingers tangled in the fabric of the cover that was on their body.
Kairo stiffened behind Zaque, and Zaque didn’t move. He didn’t even blink.
Like clockwork, when Zaque snapped out of his shock, the bottom of his shod hit the stone floor like thunder as he stormed over, his voice sharp and demanding.
"Richard!" Zaque bellowed, the sudden shouting jolted Richard awake instantly.
The goleter’s eyes flew open, disoriented from sleep.. Until they landed on Zaque looming over him, but that wasn’t what shocked him. It was the woman who woke up— her eyes, which was the same color as her hair, blinking up in confusion as she lifted her head off Richard’s chest.
"When did you bring a woman home?!" Zaque hissed, fists clenched at his sides.
He wasn’t expecting Richard to be a womanizer!
Richard let out a grumble, rubbing his face like he was trying to shake the sleep from his mind. "I didn’t bring anyone home, Zaque."
Then, with a gentle tap on the woman’s back, he was nudging her into a sitting position— trying to keep the blanket wrapped around her like a shield.
"Get up, Lala. I gotta clear up this mess." Richard mumbled, sighing heavily through his nose.
Zaque’s eyes widened.
Lala rolled off of Richard with a whine, her fingers clinging tight to the blanket as she tried to burrow further into the bed, and when she spoke up, her voice was muffled by the sheets, but still defiant.
"I’ll explain it to her later... Let me sleep." She whined again, her hair tangled around her, the blanket wrapped tight around her torso.
And that.. That made it very clear who she really was.
Zaque’s face went pale, his breath hitching as his hand flew up to cover his mouth, eyes wide in disbelief.
"You—" His voice cracked. "You’re Lala?!"
The realization hit him like a physical blow, the red hair, the red eyes.. And Richard shielding her like she was someone precious.
Kairo let out a sharp exhale behind Zaque, not surprised.
Richard just rubbed his temples with one hand while keeping an arm loosely around the supposedly garden fairy. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
".. Yeah." He muttered, making Zaque spin on his heels, his face buried in his hands.
"Oh my goodness." He broke off, his voice strangled and ragged as the realization crashed over him.
Lala was a fairy— a small, cute, endearing little creature, full of warmth and compassion.
How could she go from that to.. To this? And why— out of all people— did she have to pick Richard?! There’s so many men out there, but she just has to pick Richard?!
Richard sat up, running a hand down his face before leveling Zaque and Kairo with an unimpressed stare.
"Get out of my room." He stated flatly. "I have to dress up."
And just for good measure, he quickly added, quite seriously, "Unless you want to see my big, enormous monster dick?"
Kairo choked behind them, eyes wide at the sudden bluntness and Zaque’s head snapped toward Richard like he had been electrocuted, his eyes squinting into a glare.
Lala? Still buried in blankets and pretending this wasn’t happening.
Zaque scowled, his entire body tense with righteous fury. "I won’t forgive you for tarnishing Lala’s innocence!"
Then he jabbed an accusatory finger at Richard, clearly fuming at what’s happening. "You better come up to the kitchen and explain everything, young man!"
Richard just raised an eyebrow, unimpressed and entirely unbothered.
"Tarnished? She climbed into my bed herself." He muttered under his breath before yanking the blanket higher over Lala’s head, to make sure that her body is fully covered, away from their eyes.
Zaque huffed in frustration, his footsteps echoing loudly on the stairs as he stomped his way out of the basement.
Kairo followed, stumbling a bit in his attempt to keep up, before falling into step beside him.
They made their way back to the kitchen in tense, angry silence and Zaque’s mind was still reeling, trying and failing to process the scene they had just stumbled into.
Heiren and Alhai had been sitting in the kitchen, enjoying a moment of quiet before the door suddenly slammed open.
They jumped in surprise, their heads snapping up as Zaque and Kairo stomped into the room.
One look at Zaque’s face told them that whatever had happened was definitely not good so Heiren took it upon himself to ask.
"What happened?" He sprung to his feet, a puzzled expression on his face.
Zaque paused and finally let the situation settle over his head, his heart dropping at his stomach when he processed Richard’s words.
The first husband let out a heavy sigh, his hand rubbing at his temples like he was fighting off a headache. "Nothing.. It was just Lala... And Richard."
Heiren and Alhai exchanged a worried look, picking up on the tension radiating off Zaque.
