Chapter 613: Spending time with Cleora

"Geez, can’t you at least dry your hair properly?" Cleora asked Coco the moment she walked inside the room, hair still wet and slightly dripping into her shirt.

"Sorry, mama." Coco apologized half-heartedly as she plopped herself down onto the couch. "I’m excited with what you chose to watch."

Cleora frowned, her eyes sweeping across Coco’s wet hair. "Yeah, well, your hair is bothering me so have your husbands dry it off for you. Don’t even think of coming back here until you’re completely dry, do you understand?"

Coco blinked and stared at Cleora, her eyebrows furrowing. "Why not? It’s not like I’ll get sick."

"You will get sick if you don’t take care of yourself right now!" Cleora hissed, sending a dissatisfied glare in Coco’s way. "Dry your hair right now, missy! Stop being difficult."

Coco let out a huff, her eyebrows furrowing. Difficult? She was just excited to get away from Alhai and Heiren.

When she got out of the bathroom, the look on Alhai’s face was the same when she got cornered by the kitchen, so she quickly ran out of the bedroom to go down to the living room.

"I can dry my own hair." Coco said, carding her fingers through her wet locks. "There’s no need to go to them to get them dry."

"Then do it." Cleora sighed and waved her daughter away. "Don’t you dare think of sitting beside me unless you’re done drying your hair, do you understand me?"

Coco puffed out her cheeks, just like a child getting told ni at a store.

Cleora shook her head and smiled softly. "Okay, fine, fine. Go and give me the damn towel so I can dry your hair instead."

Coco brightened up significantly at the words of her mother because such a thing wasn’t done to her for a couple of years now, since she’s a grown lady and all.

"Wait for me, please—" Coco spoke up and told her mother to wait, but before she could turn around and run to her room, she bumped into a warm and solid chest, her nose immediately aching at the impact.

"Here’s a towel." A familiar voice reached her ears, at the same time, a warm hand settled on her hip.

"Ah, thank you so much, Kairo." Coco expressed her gratitude and looked up, her hand clutching the soft fabric that was placed right beside her head. "You’re such a lifesaver."

"It’s a spare towel." The hybrid stated softly and shook his head. "Once you’re done using it, you can just throw it away."

"Throw this away?" Coco repeated, her eyes widening. "I don’t want to make this a waste."

"Yes, yes, yes." Kairo mumbled half-heartedly and pressed his hands on Coco’s shoulders, before spinning her around and pushing her inside the living room. "Stop making her wait and spend time with your mother."

"I will, I will." Coco giggled and walked inside the room. "Thanks again, Kairo!"

Kairo slowly nodded his head, his expression softening at the sight of the woman’s bright smile that edged towards her ears. It was genuine, not forced, not strained.

"You’re welcome." Kairo said, turning in his heels and disappearing down the hall.

Coco hummed and proceeded to take a seat right between her mother’s legs, outstretching her hand over her head to hand the towel to her mother.

Cleora took the towel and dropped it on her hair. "That.. That child is a hybrid, right?"

"Who?" Coco perked up and stared at the magical television’s screen, her voice low in hushed whisper. "Are you talking about Kairo? Then, yes, he is a hybrid. I only found out recently though."

"Pardon?" Cleora blinked, her hands rubbing the towel all over her daughter’s head. "Just recently?"

"Yeah, but that’s a story for another time! Can we start watching now?" Coco straightened up in her spot, her head perking up as she turned her head to look at Cleora.

Well.. She tried to turn her head to her mother, but Cleora held her head in place.

"Stay still, young lady!" The older woman hissed, her eyebrows furrowing in concentration as she tightened her grip on Coco’s head. "Don’t make this harder for me!"

Oh, shit. Coco thought, sweat dropping from her forehead as she stayed still for her mother. "Sorry, mama."

Cleora let out a huff, but at the same time, her other hand had left the towel on Coco’s head and reached for the remote. "You’re so lucky that I love you. If not, I would have smacked you for being naughty."

Coco laughed nervously, but her attention quickly shifted to the television when it turned on.

Inside the magical device was a colorful show that looked awfully similar to an animation film back from earth— the sight of it made Coco tense, surprise evident in her posture.

"I-Is that a cartoon?!" Coco gasped, making Cleora chuckled.

"It’s the closest one I could find to an anime." Cleora hummed, her hands working to dry her daughter’s hair. "Apparently, this one seems to be liked by many so we’re going to watch it ourselves." 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

"This world didn’t seem like it was advanced enough to have shows like this!" Coco blurted, completely amazed.

"Yes, it’s not advanced enough." Cleora agreed half-heartedly as she pulled her hand away from Coco’s head, taking the towel in her grasp. "But it’s advanced enough to have these devices, don’t you think?"

"Does this mean that a flat television will be made soon?" Coco couldn’t help, but ask, earning herself a soft laugh from her mother.

"I can have my people check." Cleora offered, putting the towel over Coco’s shoulders and letting it hang there. "Would you like me to contact them just to check if this world is in the process of creating a flat TV screen?"

Coco didn’t answer right away because she was already immersed at the show to hear and understand what Cleora was saying.

"Sure, sure.. Anyway, come and watch, mama." Coco mumbled, eyes glued to the screen.
