Chapter 620: Advices from friends

"Is it normal for an alpha like me to gather omegas?" Coco asked, her face buried deep into her hands.

"Pardon?" Jacques blinked, her eyebrows furrowing in confusion at the unfamiliar words.

Alpha like her? Omegas? Jacques’ mind blanked.

What is her friend spouting and what is she in about? She doesn’t make any sense! But of course, she can’t say these words aloud because it was obvious to her that Coco looked like she was struggling with something.

"I mean.." Coco cleared her throat and raised her head. "Is it normal for one to get another mediator even though she already has four husbands?"

After the steamy and knee-buckling kiss with Kairo, Coco had run out of the house.

She realized that might have liked him more than she anticipated and couldn’t help, but panic on the spot, so she did what she did best.. Run away from her problems.

"Well, yes?" Renaldo answered the question, placing a cup of warm cocoa in front of his friend. "Why are you even panicking? You’re a capable woman, my friend. Wasn’t it obvious that you will get another mediator sooner or later?"

"What?" Coco gasped, her eyes widening in horror. "But I only love my husbands! How can I cheat on them?"

Technically, she already did, and that fucking made her want to throw herself off a cliff.

"Cheating?" Renaldo tilted his head, eyebrows furrowing in confusion and disbelief. "What is cheating? In a relationship, I mean. I only heard the term used in terms of games and business."

"That’s absurd." Coco mumbled, shaking her head before burying her face back into her hands.

"I ran away, as usual.." Coco groaned and kept shaking her head, not caring if it looked like she was losing her mind in her friends’ eyes. "I panicked and left him standing there. I’m such a scumbag, aren’t I?"

Jacques and Renaldo shared a glance, their confusion only worsening.

"What happened, Coco?" Jacques decided to ask instead of guessing. "We can’t help you if you’re acting like this, you know? It’s fine if you can’t tell us, but we won’t be getting anywhere like this."

Coco sniffled, her eyes getting red, but no tears flowed out. "I like Kairo, and I realized it just a couple of days ago."

The pink haired woman stared blankly at her friend. She knew that Coco came from a different world compared to theirs, but is she really that different from them? Why is she struggling over something like this? Isn’t it normal in relationships?

"Not only that, I think my lovely husbands is okay with it." Coco cried it, her eyes now welled up with tears. "What if they’re only okay with it because I want him? What if they’re only okay with it because they knew that I liked him before I knew I liked him? This is so wrong! That’s basically cheating, right?"

Jacques let out a sigh and took a seat beside Coco, pushing away the mug filled with cocoa before grabbing her hand.

"Alright, listen here." The pink haired woman stated, squeezing Coco’s hand to get her attention. "Just because they said it’s okay doesn’t mean that there’s a deeper reason behind it. What if they were okay with it because they like Kairo, too?"

Coco pulled her other hand away from her face and blinked. "Is that even possible..?"

"It’s possible." Renaldo said and placed a plate of egg sandwich before Coco. "I was the one who wanted Jonathan to become Jacques’ so I convinced her to take him in."

Coco nodded, sniffling, but as the words got processed into her brain, the married couple before her sweat profusely.

Then, just as they feared, Coco’s eyes went wide and snapped her head in their direction.

"You like Jonathan?!" Coco gasped, pulling her hand away from Jacques’ grasp to point a disbelieving finger at her. "How come I didn’t know? Since when? Is he still around here?"

"He’s at work." Jacques giggled at Coco’s reaction, expecting it from her. "He doesn’t know yet, I think, but we’re slowly making it obvious for him."

Coco blinked, her tears frozen in place as she stared at Jacques.

She wasn’t anticipating that from Jacques and Renaldo, she only thought they would like Renaldo as a friend— like Coco, but who knew? It’s such an unexpected trip and Renaldo didn’t seem to mind that there would be another mediator around his wife.

"Is this normal?" Coco asked, her attention shifting to the scarred mediator. "Are you okay with Jacques having another mediator?" 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

Renaldo paused and stared at Coco, a look of contemplation crossed his face, but really, he was just pretending to think about it to assure Coco that it’s quite normal.

"It’s more than okay." Renaldo answered as he let out an amused huff. "It’s the mediator’s job to recruit more mediators for their spouse."

"Exactly." Jacques backed her husband’s statement with a nod of her head. "I can choose my own mediator, but without the permission of Renaldo, I can’t marry the mediator I chose."

"It’s against the law." Renaldo chimed in, flashing Coco a smirk.

Coco blinked and slowly nodded her head, coming to an understanding with the concept of the mediators welcoming another mediator for their spouse— even if it was a wild and crazy concept.

"I think.. I think I get it now." Coco mumbled, a sigh of relief escaping her lips. "But it’s still alarming."

"Instead of worrying about it, why don’t you just go ahead and walk up to your husbands?" Jacques suggested, raising an eyebrow at her friend’s slouching figure. "You’re being so anxious about it, but you refuse to ask them about their thoughts about this?"

Coco flinched ever so slightly, guilt flickering in her eyes as she looked at Jacques. "That’s because.. What if they lie to me and say that they’re fine with Kairo?"

"Fair point." Renaldo shrugged before leaning forward. "If that’s the case, observe how they interact with Kairo."

"Observe?"
