Chapter 621: Advices from friends [2]

"All you have to do is observe how they interact with Kairo." Renaldo repeated what he said, grinning at his friend.

He felt like a genius.

Who would have thought about the same idea of comforting someone like this who is obviously panicking and overthinking about what their husbands’ think of the mediator they chose for their wife?

No one! Just him and him alone!

"If one of them shows any sign that they don’t like Kairo, then you know what to do." Renaldo nudged Coco with his elbow, wriggling his uneven trimmed eyebrow at her.

"If they show a sign, then what am I supposed to do?" Coco mumbled, averting her gaze away from the scarred face mediator.

Jacques and Renaldo shared a glance, the two of them coming up with the best idea to solve the issue of their beloved friend who is a worrywart and slightly thickheaded.

"Don’t think about that for now." The pink haired woman stated, waving her hand dismissively. "What you’re supposed to confirm is if they truly want Kairo to be a part of your little family or not, right? Confirm it for now."

"Yeah, but.." Coco sighed heavily and ran a hand down her face. "I already kissed the guy. What am I supposed to do?"

"You already did?" Renaldo’s eyes went wide in surprise, not expecting such a thing from a woman who was quite dense. "I mean, uh, when was it? Is.. Is he okay?"

"What is that supposed to mean?" Jacques inquired, her eyes narrowing at her husband.

"I’m only asking if the guy was okay with her kissing him." Renaldo quickly explained, beads of sweat forming in his forehead when he felt the intense gaze of his wife.

Coco sighed, pushing the cocoa mug away from her before dropping her head on the table.

"Coco!" Jacques gasped, horrified. "Don’t hurt yourself like that, young woman! I can’t let anyone think that I’m abusing someone just because you walked out of this house with a bruise on your face!"

"I’m fine." Coco grumbled, ignoring Jacques’ fuss about the possible bruising of her head.

"Coco.. How about listening to our advice for now?" Renaldo suggested, kneeling beside Coco’s chair and placing a hand on her shoulder. "You won’t get anything done like this if you keep worrying about it."

"Does.. Does that mean that I will have to deal with kicking him out because I kissed him if Zaque and others weren’t actually okay with it?" Coco asked, lifting her head from the table.

Just as Jacques had anticipated, there was already a red mark on Coco’s forehead.

"Goodness, Coco." The pink haired woman hissed, eyes wide as she stared at the mark. "Just how strong did you slam your head for a mark to appear right away?"

"To answer your question, why would you need to get him out of the house?" Renaldo redirected the topic back on track with another question. "Zaque was the one who invited Kairo inside the house, right? It’s his duty to kick Kairo out if things go down south."

"That’s a wrong question, darling." Jacques chastised Renaldo softly and turned to Coco.

The woman sighed and tapped her friend on the forehead. "You shouldn’t be worrying about things like that, Coco. Think about what would happen if your husbands were okay with it, but you’re the one messing it up."

Coco froze in her seat, her lips forming a straight like at the new possible scenario.

Great, another event to worry about. Coco thought, her mind going haywire at worrying too much about things that may happen.

People would argue that it’s all just in your head, man.. Stop worrying about it. but they are usually the type of people who had never been anxious about mixing up the signs and ended up hurting people for misunderstanding it.

It sucks, but it’s difficult to mess up in terms of this kind of thing.

Coco doesn’t want to hurt the mediators just because she failed to see that they were actually hurting behind their words that gave her permission to get Kairo included to their little family.

But now that Jacques mentioned it.. What if they are actually fine with Kairo and it was just Coco who was overthinking everything?

What if.. In the process of worrying about hurting their feelings and wanting the best for them, she actually ended up hurting them because she didn’t believe them?

All these ran through Coco’s head and it’s starting to make her jittery on her seat.

"Alright, alright, alright— Coco!" Jacques let out a loud cry and it brought Coco back to reality. "Stop worrying about anything for a second, okay? Take a deep breath and calm down."

Coco was so deep in her thoughts that she failed to notice that she was already hyperventilating.

"Deep breaths." The pink haired woman repeated, her eyes wide in worry and anxiety. "Copy my breathing pattern, Coco."

Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale.

The breathing pattern was repeated a couple of times and while they were doing this, Renaldo stood up from his spot beside Coco and rushed to get a glass of water.

Coco didn’t drink her cocoa, so he knows that she won’t touch it after hyperventilating.

"That’s right." Jacques mumbled, still heaving in and out, guiding Coco through her usual breathing pattern. "That’s it. You’re doing good, Coco."

It took a good while, but Coco eventually calmed down and instead of reaching out for the glass of water in Renaldo’s hand, she reached out for the cocoa and downed it in one gulp.

"Fuck, that was so close." Coco hissed, placing the mug down on the table.

"Are you okay?" The mediator asked, his eyebrows furrowed in worry. "Do you need me to call for your husbands? Do you have medication or something?"

"No, I’m fine.." Coco sighed before rubbing her temples. "Anyway, Jacques was right.. I just have to ask them myself."

Renadok and Hacshes visibly became relaxed, their shoulders sagging in relief.

"Thank goodness."
