New World with Four Husbands-Chapter 663: Transportation station and crates
The day rolled on, the wagon jolting and bumping along the uneven road as the sun arched through the sky.
Coco and the others had taken a break to eat a simple meal— dried meats and biscuits, packed for the road, and after that, they went back on the road.
Since then, Coco found herself glancing frequently out the window at the landscape passing by outside.
She was itching to have something to do, but Cleora kept a watchful eye as the hours passed.
The older woman had a tendency to be overprotective back on earth and it seemed like she still is until now. It was quite evident how her gaze barely left Coco.
The sky was already bright above when they approached the transportation station.
The station this time was different to the previous, dim and suspicious one they had stopped at in the middle of night.
This station stood in the open— sturdy and well-maintained, with a group of armored knights standing watch just outside of the pillars with a couple more standing beside each pillar.
Upon seeing them, Coco couldn’t help, but straighten in her seat, her eyes wide as she took in the sight.
This station was far more fortified than the last and the presence of armed guards only heightened the seemingly strict security of the place.
The wagon came to a halt right before the station and without a moment of hesitation, Cleora kneeled towards the exit and stepped outside the wagon.
Coco became curious about the hurried movement of her mother and stuck her head out to watch— just in time to see a group of the knights lower their heads toward her mother in a respectful gesture.
Coco’s eyes widened as she watched the display of respect, surprised by the knights’ response to Cleora.
She knew her mother was powerful, but she never showed how powerful she truly is in societal standing, so seeing it blatantly evident was kind of eye-opening.
Cleora surveyed the transportation station before saying something too low for Coco to catch.
The knights nodded their helmeted heads, then turned away and moved toward the four massive pillars surrounding the station— all of which were guarded meticulously.
Coco frowned, trying to puzzle out whatever was happening, so she leaned a little further out of the wagon and forced on straining her ears to pick up any hint of what her mother was saying.
"Make haste. I have to get my people inside the territory." Cleora ordered, voice cold as she nudged her head towards the wagons.
The men nodded before all of them hurried to comply with her command.
Coco turned her gaze away from her mother and instead, her eyes wandered over to the massive four pillars surrounding the station.
To her surprise, she saw the stone of each pillar begin to glow— a soft, iridescent light that seemed to shimmer in the air, with the men guarding each structure having their hands pressed against the stone, and as they did so, the glow grew stronger, more intense.
Coco looked back at Cleora, her questions doubling, only to find her mother looking back at her, her face unreadable as she approached the wagon.
Coco instinctively tensed, bracing for instructions.
But Cleora merely continued to stride right past the wagon’s entrance without so much as glancing her way or inside the vehicle.
Coco was about to open her mouth to ask, but her mother moved straight toward the driver’s seat at the front, her boots crunching against the gravel as she climbed up without hesitation.
Coco blinked, stunned.
Wait.. Is her mother planning to drive them now?!
She didn’t get a chance to ask because at that moment, the glowing pillars erupted in a flash of light and then, the wagon lurched forward towards the station.
Everyone inside was thrown off guard at how abrupt the wagon moved.
"What’s happening?!"
Coco couldn’t answer whoever asked the question because the world outside the wagon blurred violently, colors streaking past like liquid paint.
She barely had time to gasp before the sensation of movement warped around them— like being yanked through space itself and had them jostling all over the place.
Then, just as suddenly, it stopped.
Coco’s stomach churned and she fought hard against the nauseating feeling of being teleported.
Outside the wagon, the scene was completely different.
Tall, ancient trees loomed overhead, their branches and leaves thick enough to blot out the sky.
Right on the corner of her eyes, she could see that the road was lined with black roses— a sight that made Coco’s breath catch in her throat.
Coco swallowed nervously and decided to take in the surroundings more carefully.
Indeed.. She wasn’t just hallucinating. The towering trees, the unnatural stillness in the air, the road lined with black roses.. It was like stepping into another world entirely.
Are they on her mother’s territory now?
The wagon creaked and shook slightly, and behind her, she could hear the soft murmur of her husbands and friends as they began to stir in the back.
"The teleportation was so sudden.. I think I’m going to be sick."
"Sick? I think I just bumped my face on Quizen’s dick and that’s making me sick."
"Excuse me?"
"Be mindful of your words, Alhai."
But Coco’s attention was fixated on the wagons in front, her eyes sharp as she watched four men emerge from the back of the other wagons, their muscled arms heaving with the weight of hefty-looking crates they were carrying.
Coco bit her lip, frowning. Crates of what?
The men approached the wagon she’s in, their movements slow and awkward. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
Coco simply watched, her heart hammering in her chest when her mother’s voice suddenly cut through the air before Cleora had come into her view, pointing to a spot on the ground, directly in front of the wagon.
"Drop them here." The woman ordered. "I’ll distribute them instead. Have yourself and others cover up."
Then, Cleora’s eyes flickered to Coco. "Come here."
