One Night With A Mysterious Billionaire (The Heiress's Revenge)-Chapter 50: The ultimate revenge I
I woke up with pains all over my body. When I tried to move, I felt a strong grip around my waist. Beside me, Raymond was sleeping, his chest rising and falling steadily, his brow relaxed as though he did not carry the weight of the world even in his dreams.
I subtly reached out to touch his face, my fingers hovering over his sharp jaw, but I withdrew my hand. His actions the previous night were still imprinted on my body, not just on my skin but somewhere deeper, somewhere I could not easily ignore.
My gaze hardened. I remembered why I had gone to look for him in his office yesterday. I wanted to ask about the guy at the warehouse.
I needed answers. But everything escalated so quickly. I remembered him pinning me down on the table and having his way with me. The memory sent a ripple of anxiety through my chest. When we signed this contract, he agreed to take it slow with me. But since his arrival yesterday, he has changed.
I calmly observed him for a while, not saying anything, my mind replaying everything that had happened since he returned. A chilling sensation crept through me. What if there was more to Raymond that I knew nothing of? What if the man beside me was only a fraction of who he truly was?
"If you keep staring at me, I would take it that you cannot get enough of me." Raymond’s deep baritone voice rang out, breaking me from my reverie. His eyes were still closed, yet somehow he knew.
"Who wants you?" I shot back, annoyed by his assumption. "You were a bit rough last night, and you promised to take things slow when we signed the contract."
"That was because it’s been a while since I saw my kitten. Apologies for losing control."
"It’s not true. You did not lose control. It was like you were a completely different person."
"Don’t worry. You will soon come to enjoy this new pattern of lovemaking. Trust me, it is quite satisfying, and it is time you experience a different kind of pleasure."
I hit him lightly to show my displeasure, but he only chuckled, clearly amused by my reaction, as though my protests entertained him.
"Did you kill the kidnapper yesterday?" I asked suddenly.
Raymond’s eyes snapped open at my question. The playfulness disappeared, replaced by something unreadable.
"I did not lay a finger on that man, nor was I anywhere near him. I remember only untying you and kissing you." He leaned closer as if to kiss me again, but I turned my head away. I noticed the subtle shift in his eyes at my refusal.
"Roman shot him, not me. Do you remember?"
"But he works for you. Do you kill people?" I asked quietly, my voice barely above a whisper.
"No, I don’t. I only defend myself or punish people that deserve punishment."
Everything inside me seemed to spin. Is this what Sylvia meant when she always said I did not really know him?
"Have you killed... uhm, have you punished anyone since we met?" I asked with my head bowed, afraid of the answer yet desperate for it.
"Here in York City, the offenders are few. In Vegas, punishments are almost every day."
My mouth dropped open. What did he mean by that? How could killing people be regarded as punishment? How could he say it so casually, as
though discussing business meetings?
"Don’t you get in trouble with the law?"
"Lena, Lena, Lena." He sighed softly, shaking his head. "How come you are suddenly so interested in my life?"
"Why not we do it like this? I give you three questions to ask, and I will answer truthfully. Then no more. Do you agree?"
Why did you leave without telling me?
"Because my grandfather was going to pass the family company to my step brother, if i don’t return that same day, I couldn’t wait to tell you that I was leaving, I had little time, and practically no choice."
I had to nod before he changed his mind. He placed his palm under his chin, his dark eyes devouring me as he gestured for me to begin.
"Simple phone call or a text would have suffix." I told him.
He chuckled. "Yeah you are right, there is a reason for that too,but you don’t need to know that now. That is all I will say on this matter."
I nodded and asked him another question
"What is the history between you and the girl you are getting married to?" I asked. I needed to know why he would marry someone else while keeping me bound to him through a contract.
I remembered finding him destroying her pictures in his forbidden room. The thought of that secret space made my chest tighten.
I noticed his eyes darken immediately. "Apart from that one. Ask another question."
But I want to know.
This is exactly one month Lena, no more going slow. And according to the contract I have the right to privacy. And I choose privacy at this moment
"Too soon," I muttered under my breath. Fine, if you want to go that way.
"The contract also states that you cannot bind yourself to any other woman in affection, protection, or desire."
Raymond chuckled "what a smart kitten you are, I thought you hated the contract? Only using it when it helps you win an argument against me, but you forget that I chose privacy at this moment, drop it kitten, there are some things you don’t need to know the details of ."
I looked at him and realized he was not ready for that conversation so I decided to drop it.
"Do you intend to end this relationship now that you are engaged?"
"No, I don’t intend to. I intend to honor the contract till the end." He smirked slightly. "That would be a bonus, because I could have answered that question anytime. So you still have three free questions to ask."
"You said I don’t know you yesterday. What do you mean by that? Is there something I need to know about you? Like you are a ruthless killer hiding in plain sight?" I asked, my heart pounding.
"Well, I’m not a ruthless killer, and I don’t go on rampage." He smiled at me as though I had grown two heads because of my questions. But could he blame me? He started this.
"Like I said, I only punish those that are disobedient. I abhor disobedience. It can lead to disorderliness.""So you kill people?" I asked as I shifted back in terror, my heart thundering so loudly I could hear it in my ears.
"Is that your second question?"
I shook my head quickly, not even sure what I wanted to say next. I was disoriented, my thoughts scattered, fear and confusion tangling together inside me.
"Do you know who kidnapped me?"
"Why do you ask? Do you think I have something to do with it?" Raymond asked calmly, though his eyes sharpened slightly.
"No. I just felt like the whole incident was too weird. The kidnappers said they were asked to hold me down until an event finished. Apparently, I might disrupt the event."
"Oh? Is that so?" His lips curved faintly. "Does my kitten have another man aside from me?"
"No... no, I don’t. And it’s not like that."
Raymond chuckled lazily and stretched his arm around my waist, drawing me close against his warm chest as though nothing in this world could threaten me while I was in his arms.
"Then don’t bother about those trivial matters. I’ve got it covered."
"Do you know who might be behind it? That was my question." Secretly, I had a feeling my kidnapping had something to do with Raymond, but I had no proof, only instinct, and instinct could be wrong.
"I don’t know yet," he replied smoothly. "But I have my suspicions about who it might be. That is all I can tell you for now."
His answer did not ease me.
"Why didn’t you attend your engagement party?" I asked suddenly.
"Is that jealousy I hear in your voice?" he teased.
"But I did it for you. I was busy searching for you the whole day, so I missed the engagement party. It’s everywhere online. The number one trending news, how York City and Vegas City’s top billionaire, Raymond, left his fiancée on their engagement day."
"You what?" I pushed myself up, staring at him.
"Tell me you did not do that."
"Is that the thanks I get for saving you?"
"Like you said, Roman was the one who shot the kidnapper, not you. So I think you were useless. You could have allowed Roman to come looking for me while you attended your engagement party," I snapped, my voice rising.
His expression darkened slightly.
"Do you know I barely slept for one whole week because of the name-calling I received at work and online?" I continued, frustration spilling out. "I had to stop going to work. Do you want to ruin me?"
"No, kitten." His thumb brushed my lower lip. "I cherish you a lot, and I want to ruin you, but not in the way you are talking about."
"Can you be serious for once? Whatever game you are playing, don’t drag me into it."
"Of course I will drag you into it," he replied calmly.
"But I will offer protection. Why not enjoy the wealth I provide to the fullest? Go to the spa. Take vacations. I will invest another two hundred million into your company after the Banana Estate is constructed. By the end of next year, your company will sit among the top ten in Vegas and York City."
His gaze locked onto mine.
