Chapter 121: Chapter 123: Forced Cohabitation (Sixty-Six)

Ji Chicheng had already scooped a spoonful of sugar over, without asking Ji Anning for her opinion, and directly put it into her cup, stirring it twice for her, "Try it again, and if you’re still not used to it, you can add some creamer."

As he spoke, he retracted the spoon and stirred his own cup twice.

"Okay," Ji Anning smiled at Ji Chicheng with her lips pursed, and then brought the cup back to her lips, sipping a little.

Suddenly, she thought of something, and her movements abruptly halted.

’Do you think I would make coffee for others?’

She stared at the dark liquid in the cup, recalling Ji Chicheng’s haughty remark, and her heartbeat suddenly changed.

It was as if a little deer was crashing around, as if honey was coursing through the tips of her heart, and even though she was well aware that he had just made the coffee for her to sample the flavor, so she would know what properly brewed coffee should taste like when she made it herself later, she still couldn’t suppress the stealthy beat of her heart.

The man next to her was leisurely leaning against the cabinet, holding a coffee cup in one hand and crossing his arms with the other, the fine white porcelain cup touching his lips, with a glance at the girl beside him, his mouth lifting slightly.

The afternoon sun shone in, so quiet, so warm.

...

’Knock knock knock’

The sound of knocking broke the beautiful silence, and because Ji Anning’s thoughts had strayed too far, she was startled by the sudden noise.

She took the cup away from her lips, turned around, and looked towards the door.

Just at that moment, Ji Chicheng passed by her, a wisp of fragrance lingering and causing her to indulge in its trail.

"Make the coffee the way I taught you," he said.

Ji Anning, still intoxicated by that trace of fragrance, heard Ji Chicheng suddenly turn back and instruct her, snapping her wandering thoughts back to reality.

She hurriedly responded with an ’Oh’ and turned around guiltily, picking up the coffee beans and following the steps Ji Chicheng had just done.

"Long time no see, my good friend."

Ji Chicheng opened the door, and a foreign man with a large backpack came in and gave him a hug as he entered.

"Luke, long time no see."

Ji Chicheng smiled faintly and then gently pushed away the foreigner named Luke.

He did not like others getting close to him, regardless of gender.

Luke did not seem to mind his gesture and was about to continue speaking when suddenly he sniffed and turned his gaze towards Anning’s direction.

"Coffee, smells good."

Upon smelling the coffee, he took off his shoes and approached excitedly, nearly reaching Anning when he saw her face and exclaimed with wide eyes, "Oh, and there’s a beautiful girl here."

Then pointing at Anning, he turned to look at Ji Chicheng, who was following at a leisurely pace, "I’m so surprised to see a girl in your place, who is she?"

"Her name is Anning," was all Ji Chicheng said to introduce Anning to Luke, ignoring Luke’s genuine astonishment and confusion.

Knowing he wasn’t going to get any more of an introduction, Luke deflated, shrugged, and then moved closer to Anning, saying with a smile, "Chengcheng is very picky, so I bet the coffee you make must be great, right?"

He spoke in English, and Anning naturally replied in English, "My skills were taught by him."

She glanced at Luke with a smile on her face, perhaps a little embarrassed, or perhaps because of the heat, her cheeks were flushed, and when she smiled, it was sweet.
