Plunder-Chapter 211 Who Made the Move
Twenty minutes later, the meeting began.
Qiao En followed Zhou Chucheng into the conference room.
The topic of today’s meeting was the investment and filming of a new movie.
The people sitting in the conference room were all elites from Zhou Chucheng’s team.
Qiao En sat just behind and to the right of Zhou Chucheng.
Inside the conference room, it was noisy as everyone was freely expressing their opinions, which quite surprised Qiao En.
She was used to the oppressive and orderly meetings at Nanchen and even to Zhou Jin’an’s low pressure. But here, although Zhou Chucheng leaned back in his chair silently, he was seriously listening to what others were saying.
Suddenly, the conference room door was kicked open from the outside, and a tall, slender woman barged in.
Qiao En had seen her on TV; she had acted in several TV series, always as the third female lead, never quite achieving fame.
Just now, Qiao En had heard their discussions, it seemed that this woman was mentioned, and they even considered letting her play the leading female role.
Her name was Huang Ying.
"Director Zhou, what do you mean by this? Didn’t you promise me? You said I would be the lead actress in this new drama, why change your mind all of a sudden? I pushed all my other appointments for you. You can’t just stand me up like this."
She stormed towards Zhou Chucheng with arms crossed and stared at him assertively.
"Miss Huang, we are in a meeting, please step outside and wait."
Zhou Chucheng gave Qiao En a glance, and she immediately stood up.
"Miss Huang, I’m sorry, but could you please wait in the reception room for a moment?"
Qiao En was about to lead Huang Ying out, but the latter was uncooperative.
"I’m not going anywhere, just give me a straight answer now. Am I the lead or not?"
Zhou Chucheng looked amiable, he smiled faintly, "Do you think you can handle the responsibility of the lead actress?"
Huang Ying snorted through her nostrils. "Director Zhou, have you forgotten what you told me when you approached me? Whether or not I can handle the responsibility of the lead actress depends on whether you let me play it, doesn’t it?"
"No."
Zhou Chucheng spoke succinctly and resolutely.
His voice wasn’t loud, but it echoed through the conference room.
Everyone heard him, and then everything fell silent.
Huang Ying’s face turned pale, and she stood there looking particularly awkward.
"Miss Huang, could you please step outside?"
Qiao En reminded her again.
But her reminder turned into a vent for Huang Ying’s embarrassed fury.
She swung back her hand and delivered a slap.
The slap landed on Qiao En’s face with the speed of lightning, causing a sharp sound.
Qiao En’s half of her face immediately swelled up.
"You don’t know how to dodge?"
Huang Ying, having slapped someone, complained first.
Qiao En held her half-swollen face; she didn’t speak.
Zhou Chucheng stood up and pulled Qiao En behind him for protection.
"How are you?"
She shook her head, "I’m fine."
"Director Zhou truly treasures beauty. I didn’t slap her hard. What could she possibly suffer from this? Is she planning to blackmail me?"
Huang Ying, ignorant of the severity, rolled her eyes.
"Get out."
Zhou Chucheng said just one word. He grabbed Qiao En by the arm and walked towards the exit.
"Director Zhou, I’m okay."
"Whether you’re okay or not, you should first go to the hospital for a check-up. You are my assistant, but you are also my sister-in-law. You got hit here in my place, I need to answer to him."
As Zhou Chucheng spoke, he was about to call Zhou Jin’an.
Qiao En quickly intervened, "Director Zhou, I really am fine. Let’s not let him know about such a small issue. I’ll just apply some ointment to reduce the swelling."
Qiao En hurried back to her office.
But Zhou Chucheng still made the call to Zhou Jin’an.
Upon hearing that Qiao En had been hit, Zhou Jin’an was furious.
"Zhou Chucheng, what on earth are you trying to do? I warn you, if she gets the slightest bit hurt, I’ll make you pay with your life!"
"Big brother, I’m sorry, it’s all my fault, I was negligent."
Zhou Chucheng tried his best to apologize, but it was of no use.
Zhou Jin’an abruptly hung up the phone.
He had two meetings scheduled for the morning, but he couldn’t care less about them now and quickly grabbed his coat and headed outside.
"Director Zhou, where are you going?"
Seeing Zhou Jin’an’s face turn dark, Cheng Lu immediately followed him.
Zhou Jin’an walked briskly outside, radiating anger.
"To kill someone."
At that moment, he indeed felt like killing someone.
The car roared into the Hongxing Building, and Zhou Jin’an hastened his pace inside.
"Where is Xu Yayun?"
As soon as he stepped off the elevator, he stormed in furiously.
The receptionist recognized him, but there was a company policy that non-employees were not allowed inside during work hours.
"Sir, please wait outside."
But Zhou Jin’an ignored the advice and hurried straight into the workspace.
"Zhou Chucheng, come out here."
He shouted at the top of his lungs, causing everyone in the large workspace to stick their heads out and look in his direction.
Qiao En heard the noise from outside; realizing trouble was brewing, she quickly opened the door and went to meet him.
"What are you doing here? Get out now."
She grabbed Zhou Jin’an’s arm, trying to pull him outside.
However, his gaze fixed intensely on Qiao En’s cheek.
The red handprint was still there, strikingly visible against her fair skin. Zhou Jin’an stared at the mark, his eyes slightly reddening.
"Does it hurt?"
Qiao En shook her head, "I’m fine, really fine. Don’t make a big deal out of it. Please leave, it’s work hours now."
Just then, Zhou Chucheng appeared.
Before he could greet Zhou Jin’an, Zhou Jin’an’s fist had already done the greeting.
He quickly rushed in front of Zhou Chucheng, swinging his fist and smashing it into Zhou Chucheng’s face.
"Zhou Jin’an."
Qiao En panicked, rushing to break up the fight.
But Zhou Jin’an, like a lion gone mad, kept raining punches down on Zhou Chucheng.
All along, Zhou Chucheng did not fight back; he was pushed to the ground by Zhou Jin’an and just lay there, letting Zhou Jin’an’s fists hit him.
"Big brother, I’m sorry."
Zhou Chucheng apologized.
"Sorry my ass."
Zhou Jin’an was unrelenting.
Qiao En grabbed his arm, desperately trying to pull him outside, "Today’s incident has nothing to do with Director Zhou, can you please leave now?"
"Nothing to do with it? How can it have nothing to do with him, you were hit here at his place."
Suddenly, he realized something, his cold gaze swept over the nosy onlookers.
"Just now, who touched her?"
Whoever dared to lay a hand on Qiao En, he would absolutely settle the score.
The heads that popped up shook like rattles, and then quickly sank down again.
"It wasn’t them."
As soon as Zhou Chucheng spoke, Zhou Jin’an swung another punch at his face.
"I didn’t ask you, why the hell are you butting in?"
Driven by anger, he burst out a curse.
"Have you had enough?"
Qiao En was getting agitated too.
Zhou Jin’an was concerned for her, she knew that and was touched.
Yet, his irrational behavior of hitting people vexed her.
"No."
Zhou Jin’an sharply replied.
"Who hit her?"
He shouted again.
Zhou Chucheng propped himself up from the ground with one hand, "I will handle this matter seriously, I will definitely explain it to sister-in-law."
"You still acknowledge her as your sister-in-law?"
Zhou Chucheng’s eyelids drooped, "Big brother, can you trust me just this once?"
"No."
"Zhou Jin’an, get out."
Qiao En pulled on his arm, walking him out and pushing him out of the workspace.
To prevent further chaos, she accompanied Zhou Jin’an down the elevator.
"En’en, let’s go home."
Zhou Jin’an’s voice was somewhat choked up.
His woman, why would anyone dare to mess with her?
The woman he cherished and doted on the most, he would never allow anyone to mess with her.
"I’m okay, don’t worry about me. It was just my own carelessness today, I’ll be more careful next time."
"There’s a next time?"
"No more, no more. I know you care about me, and now you see I’m really fine, so can you please go back to work?"
Qiao En patiently coaxed Zhou Jin’an.
He obediently got into the car, but just as Qiao En turned to leave, he dialed Zhou Chucheng’s number.
"Send me that person’s information."
