Plunder-Chapter 212: It’s You I’m Hitting
After seeing off Zhou Jin’an, Qiao En quickly went upstairs.
"Director Zhou, I’m sorry, maybe... I should accompany you to the hospital."
Qiao En headed straight to Zhou Chucheng’s office.
Zhou Jin’an had hit Zhou Chucheng, and she felt very guilty.
On Zhou Chucheng’s face, patches of blue and purple were visible, which looked somewhat disheveled.
He was applying an ice pack to his cheek and waved his hand weakly, "I’m fine, it’s just a superficial skin injury, it doesn’t hurt."
"I’m sorry for what happened today."
Qiao En apologized once again.
She was a person who believed in keeping work and personal life separate; work is work and should not be mixed with any personal excuses.
Zhou Chucheng lifted his eyes and looked deeply at Qiao En.
She looked ordinary but possessed many merits that an ordinary girl didn’t have.
"Sister-in-law, the person who should be saying sorry is me."
This was the first time Zhou Chucheng had called Qiao En sister-in-law.
But to Qiao En, it felt extremely awkward.
"You’d better call me Assistant Xu."
Zhou Chucheng nodded his head, "Assistant Xu, you got hurt today because of me. My big brother hitting me is a matter between him and me; it has nothing to do with you, so please, don’t take it to heart."
"By the way, why don’t you take the day off to get a check-up at the hospital? It’s always a good idea."
"Thanks, but I’m not so delicate. If Director Zhou doesn’t have anything else for me, I’ll get back to work."
Having said that, Qiao En left Zhou Chucheng’s office.
No sooner had Qiao En left than Zhou Chucheng’s phone rang.
It was a call from Zhou Jin’an.
He had just sent a message, insisting on finding out the instigator.
This was typical of Zhou Jin’an’s style, not letting go of even the smallest details.
Zhou Chucheng hadn’t yielded.
"Big brother, are you leaving? I’m sorry, I was busy with something just now."
Zhou Chucheng made polite conversation with Zhou Jin’an.
"Who is that person? Spit it out, don’t beat around the bush with me, or I’ll tear down your nest."
Zhou Jin’an spoke irritably.
"Big brother, let’s forget about this matter, shall we? You’ve hit me, you’ve vented your anger, let’s just turn the page on this."
Huang Ying was detestable, but after all, she was a woman.
In the entertainment industry, conflicts over roles were common.
As a man, he had no need to be petty with a woman; as a director, he had even less reason to bother with an actor with no reputation.
"It seems I was too gentle earlier. Are you going to fess up or not? If you don’t, do you think I won’t be able to find out?"
Zhou Jin’an had the capability to do so, Zhou Chucheng knew it.
After pondering for a while, he said, "An insignificant actress with no fame, she was targeting me. Offending my sister-in-law was unintentional. It’s not gentlemanly to argue with a woman. I will ’look after’ her in the industry for my sister-in-law’s sake, to avenge this grudge."
"I don’t need to be that kind of gentleman. Stop calling her ’sister-in-law’; I haven’t acknowledged you as my brother, and don’t try to get chummy with me. My woman has been wronged; do you really think I’d need another man to stand up for her?"
He was determined to protect his own, and no one could stop him.
Zhou Chucheng wanted to say more, but Zhou Jin’an had already lost his patience and hung up the phone immediately.
Zhou Chucheng thought for a moment and still sent Huang Ying’s name over.
"Find this Huang Ying immediately."
Zhou Jin’an was enraged, and Cheng Lu followed his order right away.
About fifteen minutes later, Cheng Lu found Huang Ying’s location.
After leaving Zhou Chucheng’s place, she had gone to a film and television shooting base.
"Director Zhou, do we go there now?"
Cheng Lu asked tentatively.
Today, Zhou Jin’an had a full schedule, but since Qiao En had been hit, he had stopped all his work.
At this moment, he was like an angry lion.
"No shit."
Zhou Jin’an snapped back.
Cheng Lu understood the implicit meaning behind Zhou Jin’an’s two words; it meant to go.
Thus, the Maybach immediately changed course and headed straight for the film city.
Huang Ying wasn’t well-known in the circle and always played side roles. Whenever she wasn’t acting, she would stay in the film city, looking to see if there were any small parts missing in any drama that she could fill in just to show her face.
Right now, she was clutching her resume and brazenly marketing herself everywhere.
By chance, there was a drama with a vacancy for a maid beside the female lead.
About ten girls were waiting there for the audition, and Huang Ying was mixed in amongst them.
Zhou Jin’an was as handsome as a treasured sword unsheathed; as soon as he appeared, someone recognized him.
"Oh my god, that’s Zhou Jin’an, the CEO of Nanchen!"
Huang Ying had seen photos of Zhou Jin’an online, but this was her first time seeing him in reality.
He looked even more handsome than in the pictures, tall and statuesque with broad shoulders and narrow hips, his long legs stirring the air as he walked, his face as if meticulously sculpted by time itself.
His lips were tightly pursed with a coolness, and his mischievous eyes also permeated with a chill.
"Shh—keep it down, he’s our big boss. I heard that Nanchen has invested in quite a few movies!"
"I’m so jealous, he’s both handsome and rich. Just a pity that he married a very ordinary woman."
While others chattered, Huang Ying didn’t interject, but she took their words to heart.
She sized them up with her big, dewy eyes, pondering her next move.
If she wasn’t favored by the director, taking a shortcut and winning the big boss’s favor could smooth her path to stardom, right?
She was bold and daring; having thought this, she began planning her next move.
Zhou Jin’an walked straight towards the interior, all the way into the photography studio, where Director Wang immediately greeted him.
"Director Zhou, Assistant Cheng, welcome to guide our work."
"Director Zhou, please have some water." 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
Just then, Huang Ying made her move.
She held a cup of water and stood in front of Zhou Jin’an.
Her looks weren’t particularly outstanding, but they exuded a demure and gentle charm. Holding the cup with both hands, she looked at Zhou Jin’an full of tender affection.
True to her profession as an actress, her eyes brimmed with drama as soon as she spoke.
But what she didn’t know was that Zhou Jin’an was immune to women’s coquettish glances.
He didn’t take the cup.
"I’m looking for someone," he said coldly.
Upon hearing that Zhou Jin’an was looking for someone, Director Wang, unclear of his intention and worldly-wise, rolled his eyes around and asked with a smile, "Who are you looking for, Director Zhou? I’ll call her right over."
"Huang Ying," said Cheng Lu.
"Is there a Huang Ying here? Go and call her," the director said, having no idea that there was a person by that name and promptly directing an assistant to summon her.
Huang Ying was shocked; she hadn’t expected Zhou Jin’an to come looking for her.
Delighted, she gave a bashful, coy smile. "Director Zhou, the person you’re looking for is both far away and right before your eyes."
She thought her opportunity had come.
She deliberately played coy in front of Zhou Jin’an, but as soon as she finished speaking, Cheng Lu stepped forward and, without any courtesy, slapped her across the face.
"Smack."
That resounding slap.
Huang Ying was frail, her body staggering several steps.
Clutching one side of her face, she looked at Zhou Jin’an bewilderedly. "Director Zhou, why are you hitting people?"
She didn’t understand, couldn’t comprehend.
Zhou Jin’an swept her a cold glance, "The slap was meant for you."
Cheng Lu raised her hand and once again unapologetically delivered another slap to Huang Ying.
Director Wang adjusted the glasses on his nose ridge; if it hadn’t been for Zhou Jin’an telling him there was someone named Huang Ying here, he would have had no recollection of such a person.
He had initially thought that Zhou Jin’an seeking this person was a good thing, only to find out, that person had just gotten into trouble.
To avoid offending Zhou Jin’an, he stepped aside and deliberately scolded an assistant, "Is this person part of our crew?"
The assistant immediately checked the list. "No, she’s not listed."
"Director Zhou, we don’t recognize this person," said Director Wang, trying to disassociate.
Zhou Jin’an knew the truth but didn’t expose it.
Huang Ying had been hit hard but had no power to fight back.
"Why did you hit me?"
Her lips were already bleeding.
"Have you forgotten whom you hit today?" Cheng Lu scolded.
Huang Ying’s mind whirled; she had nearly forgotten that she had struck Qiao En.
"You even dared to raise your hand against Director Zhou’s wife; you must have the courage of a bear and the heart of a leopard!"
