Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 708 Sister Li Incident (2)_1
Silvia Baxter was expelled from the Valence Group. Distraught and fearing Glades Horne's retaliation, she went into hiding back at the Baxter family home. Her retreat was so hasty that she forgot about the Vice President's daughter, who was still being held captive in an apartment, monitored by Silvia Baxter's subordinates.
Since matters within the Valence Group were kept secret from outsiders, the Vice President had no idea that Silvia Baxter had already fled back to the Baxter family home in fear.
Every day, she received a multimedia message with an update on her daughter. Knowing her daughter was alive and unharmed brought her some comfort. Of course, along with the daily multimedia messages, she also received threats warning her not to call the police.
These were all actions Silvia Baxter had instructed her subordinates to carry out. In her rush to get home, she had forgotten these orders. Consequently, her subordinates continued with their tasks, unaware that this would provide the police with the most advantageous leads to catch them.
Julia Bluen quickly answered Anne Jones's call.
"Ms. Bluen, the company has run into trouble. Many customers called today to complain that our products are mixed with inferior ones, and the quantities are wrong, among other issues," Anne Jones said eagerly after Julia picked up the call.
"What's going on?"
Glades Horne's deep voice came through; it was Glades, not Julia, who had answered the call.
Anne Jones was taken aback. No wonder Ms. Bluen hadn't introduced herself as usual when the call connected; it turned out the CEO had answered. After a brief pause, Anne Jones quickly explained, "CEO, the company is facing some trouble. Many customers are complaining, and they're all looking for Ms. Bluen."
"Where is the Vice President?" Glades asked in a deep tone.
Julia and Rachel had gone to the restroom. Hearing Julia's phone ring and seeing the caller ID was Anne Jones, Glades guessed it might be company-related and decided to answer.
"I'm not sure what's wrong with the Vice President. She's been a bit restless these last few days. Customers complained to her first, but she denied their claims, accused them of slander, and displayed a poor attitude. This made the customers even angrier," Anne Jones confessed everything to Glades, daring not to withhold any information.
"How many complaint calls have we received in total?" Glades's brow furrowed slightly as he asked again in a deep voice.
Anne Jones hesitated for a moment.
"Speak!"
"All the customers who received orders this week have complained—probably six or seven of them," Anne said. This was the highest number of complaints the company had received in a single day since it opened, and they were being directed to the General Manager.
"Alright, I'm aware," Glades responded coldly, then hung up.
"What's wrong?" Hansen Ruiz noticed his cold tone and, knowing something must have happened, asked with concern.
"Julia's company has received customer complaints. The Vice President's attitude has been poor; there are issues," Glades said somberly, his gaze sharpening as he sank into deep thought.
The Vice President had climbed the ranks step by step. She had always been good at dealing with people, enjoying a good reputation both within the company and with clients. What was going on this time? Although the Vice President wasn't a manager sent by the Valence Group, Glades was well aware of her capabilities. Otherwise, the General Manager he had originally sent wouldn't have allowed her to reach the position of Vice President.
"That's impossible, right?" Hansen Ruiz clearly didn't believe it. Julia Bluen ran her business well. How could there possibly be complaints?
"Glades, I just heard my phone ringing. Who was that?" Julia Bluen asked as she walked out of the restroom in the lounge.
Glades Horne didn't answer her directly. He stood up, handed her the phone and her bag, then took her hand and started leading her out.
Hansen Ruiz and Rachel Bailey also felt it was inappropriate to stay any longer and followed them out.
"There have been many complaints from clients at your company. Secretary Anne called. Now, I'll accompany you back to the company," Glades Horne told her in a low, serious tone once they were in the elevator. He didn't even wait for Hansen Ruiz and his wife to join them, leaving Hansen rather miffed as he and Rachel had to take the executive elevator to the sixty-seventh floor instead of the CEO's private one.
"Client complaints?" Julia was stunned, as if she couldn't believe it. Since taking over the company, she had seldom received client complaints, as Vice President Lee usually handled them.
"Vice President Lee's attitude is also problematic," Glades Horne said, looking down at her intently. "Julia, I know you respect Vice President Lee greatly and trust her, treating her like an older sister. However, subordinates shouldn't be overly indulged. Such indulgence makes them forget their duties."
Julia didn't respond. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
She did respect and trust Vice President Lee very much, but Vice President Lee had always been cautious and wouldn't normally act this way.
"Glades, do you think that Noah Reyes might have also targeted Sister Lee? Just like he did with Master Sweet Dumpling?" Julia pondered deeply. She, too, had found Vice President Lee acting a bit strangely recently. The Vice President sometimes seemed distracted during meetings and had been showing up to work with red, swollen eyes, a short temper, and severe dark circles.
Some staff members whispered that Vice President Lee and her husband had been at odds recently, constantly arguing.
Glades Horne didn't respond. He also harbored such suspicions, which was why he insisted on accompanying Julia back to the company.
If Noah Reyes's people had indeed targeted Vice President Lee, then this was another score to settle with him.
After seeing Jimmy Horne's photo, Noah Reyes immediately ordered his people to stop their campaign against the Valence Group. However, Silvia Baxter, who had arranged the kidnappings of Ivan Horne and Jimmy Horne, became entangled in a series of subsequent events. After receiving the order to stop the campaign against the Valence Group, she forgot to halt the plot against Julia's company. This series of oversights meant Vice President Lee's daughter was still being held captive in the apartment.
Noah Reyes couldn't have imagined that the company was Julia Bluen and his future wife Adele Horne's passion project, inadvertently making his pursuit of matrimony even more thorny! Dealing with Glades Horne alone was a significant enough hurdle for him to overcome. Not to mention the intense rivalry from Gio Coleman, who harbored a special affection for Adele.
After Ivan Horne and Jimmy Horne returned home, they recalled something about Vice President Lee's daughter. They mentioned an older girl who was in the house where they had been kept, but they couldn't provide a clear address. With so much happening, Glades Horne and Hansen Ruiz were distracted and didn't pay much heed to what the children had said.
Pulling out his phone, Glades Horne called Hansen Ruiz.
"Ruiz, look into Vice President Lee. Find out what's been going on with her lately."
"Okay."
Hansen Ruiz didn't complain about Glades closing the elevator door without waiting for him and responded as usual.
Upon reaching the ground floor, the couple got into Glades Horne's car. Julia's car was driven back to the company by bodyguards.
