Fabian stood by the hospital bed, pondering over and over. Finally, he decided to call Michael Linton; he felt he should inform the brother-in-law about her condition.
Glancing at the sleeping Amelia, Fabian walked out of the hospital room with his phone. Once outside, he dialed Michael Linton’s number.
"Hello!"
As the phone rang just twice, Michael answered.
Hearing his brother-in-law’s voice, Fabian suddenly fell silent, momentarily unsure of how to tell the person on the other end of the line.
"Speak up!"
Having not heard anything from this side for quite some time, the person on the other end grew impatient, with a hint of annoyance in his tone.
Michael’s voice rang in Fabian’s ears again, causing his heart to skip a beat. Taking a deep breath, he calmed his troubled emotions and said to the person on the other end, "Your sister had an incident just now, and now..."
"What’s she up to now?"
Hearing that something happened to Amelia, Michael angrily interrupted Fabian, assuming she was just quarrelling with him again, not even considering the possibility of her attempting suicide.
He couldn’t have imagined that, as, in his memory, his sister was such a strong person, she would never be so weak.
Despite the phone line, Fabian could feel Michael’s anger, his heart in turmoil. He hesitated for a moment before forging ahead with urgency, "Your sister just attempted suicide by cutting her wrists, but you..."
"What?!"
Michael was shocked by Fabian’s words, sitting up abruptly in bed, this sudden movement startled Serena Zimmerman beside him, "What happened?"
Seeing her husband’s distress, she assumed something serious had happened and sat up as well.
"My sister and brother-in-law had another fight. I’m going over to check." Not wanting to alarm his wife, Michael casually made an excuse, then got out of bed with the phone.
After getting out of bed, he placed the phone on the bedside table, quickly changed his clothes, grabbed the phone from the table, and headed for the door. Just as he was about to reach the door, he suddenly stopped and turned to his wife in bed.
"I might stay over there tonight, don’t wait up for me. And keep tonight’s events confidential." With that said, he swiftly left the room.
After leaving the room, Michael quickly ran to his car. Only after getting into his car did he put the phone back to his ear, still not hanging up on Fabian.
"How is my sister’s condition now? Which hospital is she in?" he asked as he started the car.
