Re: Elf Prince—A Degenerate's Second Chance-Chapter 79. Six To One
79. Six To One
The beast girl who had fought Eryndor shook of the feeling of dread and helped the bunny girl up to her feet and gave her a few bold words. "Run!"
She then turned and charged into the heat of the battle slaying as best as her already battered body could carry her, she thought of how the mercenaries had found her home. Even if they had sent scouts it would still be hard for them to pinpoint the location of the village with such a confidence to launch a full scale attack. Unless— she shook her head roughly to dismiss the thought.
There no way that was possible. A hand lunged at her and she responded in like manner sending her sickle to greet him, she made sure to cut through the wrist and bathing her face in the splashes of red. The mercenary cried only to be silenced by the slitting of his throat causing him to gurgle on his own blood and collapsed on the ground.
She looked forward to catch a site of her enemies, her eyes tried to access the situation as best as the could. She tried to count her enemies but they numbered over a dozen before her, this did not account for the dead bodies and the ones not in that area. The occasional screams of her people being gutted or bundled would call her attention and she would answer that call.
The form in which she used to execute her enemies was swift and handicapped due to the wound she had suffered from the bite on her leg. With every move she made she could feel the bones in her leg cracking and tugging at the flesh on her leg, it could break at any moment and she persisted nonetheless.
Her harmonious advance soon reached the end of its note as she was face by not one but six mercenaries. Even in her best condition she doubted that she could take them on, the only saving grace she had was that they did not seem to be mages and if they were then they were very weak.
Unlike the ones she had fought earlier these six had a formation she could not see, it felt like it was an invisible web of sorts that connected them all together because of the way they moved in a chaotic pattern. The charged at her and crisscrossed wildly.
The beast girl looked down at her leg for a moment as if willing them to hold on a bit longer and a second later she darted forward and met the six mercenaries in a huge clash. As she raised her sickle to block the attack of the ring leader he froze just as the edge of her reach and the other five burst forward with explosive force. They were like ghosts that moved with strange efficiency.
The beast girl used her prowess of wind magic and generated a funnel of wind around her as she darted to attack one of the mercenaries but whenever she attacked one two would come to his aid making her withdraw, this repeated itself over and over and was starting to tire her.
"Do I really have to use that again?" She thought to herself as the cries of her people started to quiet little by little. This was a bad sign that things were getting worse.
She threw all caution to the wind and used the strange technique that enchanced her speed for a short while and darted forward. She knew she had at most three seconds to take them all out and she went all out. Her legs shot forward with explosive force as she landed on the shoulder of the closes assassin to her and stabbed her sickle in his mouth. She took out two small circular metal discs from the side of her suit and sent them flying in the direction of two other mercenaries, they reacted to it slowly causing them both to take ugly cuts on their necks and faces before falling to the ground.
Before she could plan her next attack she received an elbow to the back of her head causing her to fall to the ground. In that instant her body lost all power and she coughed out blood, she started to hear a loud ringing in her ears and wondered if it was the bells of the great beyond welcoming her. But she had no intention of going.
Before she could stand back up she received a kick to the side that shattered a number of her ribs and sent her rolling in the dirt and blood that covered the ground. Stopping on her back she felt a loud pained moan escape her lungs against her control. All she felt was pain, breathing was a pain, thinking itself was disturbed with the pain her body felt all over.
As she watched the five mercenaries approaching her she felt her will to fight burning more and more but her body did not seemed to comply. She always hated this feeling, though her people lived in hiding they called it peace but she called it death. How was it that their existence itself was a pain to the outside world? Just because they chose not to ally with the world power they were hunted and sold like accessories.
The first mercenaries raised his weapon which was a huge spiked nace that was still trickling with blood and brought it down on her head. The beast girl wished that for once there would be someone who was strong enough to deal with all their oppressors. In fact whether they were strong enough or not was not the case, as long as they could defeat their current oppressors she would be satisfied.
As if the heaven chose to hear her plea for a saviour and answer a shadow zipped in front of her and a river of red died her cloth. The mercenary holding the mace fell to the ground with his neck twisted backwards.
The beast girl looked at the face of her saviour and barely uttered the word. "Sister."
