Chapter 20: Chapter 20: Traditional Wedding 1 (Edited)

"Why do you hate me? It is not my fault that I have all of these," Xin Yi explained to him, his brows furrowed as he stared at him, hoping to make him see reason. He would never have thought he could be hated because of his skills and his family.

"I have given you the reason as to why I despise you, you are so, I do not know how to put it," Fu Ji glared at him.

He was well aware of the fact that what he was doing might put him in grave danger but he could not care less.

Xin Yi had been a thorn in his flesh and he would love to eliminate this thorn and what better way to do it now that he was drunk and vulnerable.

Xin Yi could feel the malevolence emanating from Fu Ji, despite being drunk and he stealthily took two steps backwards.

"Whatever you are planning, I suggest you stop whatever you are planning, it won’t be good if you carry on with it," Xin Yi tried to warn him but Fu Ji was not willing to listen.

"I had stopped caring about the law ever since I broke your wrists, do not worry about me, just worry about yourself, because no one would save you from me now," Fu Ji spoke in a deep voice as he inched closer to Xin Yi who almost fell, owing to the fact that he was drunk.

Fu Ji was about to lay his hands on Xin Yi when he heard the siren. He cursed under his breath before looking at Xin Yi who had backed away, not like he was scared but he was in no position to fight.

"I will be back," he threatened before he walked away.

Xin Yi collapsed to the ground after he had left, and he was approached by a police officer who was kind enough to take him to his house.

Cheng Luiying came out from her hiding spot after the police officer and Xin Yi had left. She had secretly followed Xin Yi to the bar, she had noticed that he was about to be attacked; therefore she had called the attention of the officer.

She heaved a sigh of relief seeing that he had left. She chuckled in self-pity, while she shook her head before walking to her car. Her frail body trembled as she walked, while the tears escaped from her eyes.

*The Next Morning*

Xin Yan had no idea how long she had slept but she vaguely heard people discussing when she woke up the next day.

"What’s going on?" She asked as she tried to sit up. She rubbed her eyes as she stared at the people.

"Please don’t tell me you have forgotten what today is, the last leg of your wedding," she heard a chirpy voice and she looked at the person with a cold look.

She knew the girl who had spoken. In her previous life, this girl had worked hand-in-hand with Jiang Lanfen to make her life a living hell.

They were actually childhood friends but she didn’t know what happened. She only knew her friend, Zhou Mian had taken Jiang Lanfen’s side.

"Yanyan, stop staring at me that way, I feel so scared," the girl who is known as Zhou Mian rubbed her hands in fright.

She was actually scared of the look in Xin Yan’s eyes. It felt as though Xin Yan was a predator waiting for her prey which just happened to be her.

Xin Yan calmly retracted her cold gaze, not willing to be bothered with her anymore.

"Yanyan, aren’t you happy to see me? I had a show this morning but I canceled it for your sake just because I don’t want to miss your wedding," Zhou Mian whined.

Xin Yan held her forehead in pain. This girl still hasn’t changed. She’s still the same in two lifetimes.

"Zhou Mian, who invited you? If you didn’t want to attend, then you shouldn’t have, no one is forcing you," Xin Yan felt her head spinning just from her incessant chatter.

"Nanny Zhong, did you see that?" Zhou Mian stood beside Nanny Zhong with a pitiful demeanor.

"There there child, don’t listen to Yanyan, she just woke up, so she’s definitely moody," Nanny Zhong pacified her leaving Xin Yan speechless.

Her lips twitched a few times as she observed her. She was still the same as she was in her previous life before she became friends with Jiang Lanfen.

She wants to trust her but she’s been hurt deeply, she really has no idea if Zhou Mian could be trusted in this life. Was she a friend or a for? She could only keep her by her side before jumping into conclusions.

"Nanny Zhong, where’s Li Qiang?" Xin Yan questioned, she could not be bothered with trivial issues.

"President Li has gone to old residence, and you need to freshen up so as to head over also," Nanny Zhong replied.

"Yanyan, here’s what I got for you," Zhou Mian thrusted a package into her hands.

"What’s this?" She asked as she observed the package with a skeptical look.

"It’s my gift for you, you are finally getting married, so it is only right I give you a gift," Zhou Mian replied with a righteous voice.

Xin Yan raised her brows to her words. She shook the package as she tried to find out what was in it.

"Oh, come on, Yanyan, don’t open it here, open it when it’s time for your wedding night," Zhou Mian whispered into her ears.

Xin Yan was stunned. She didn’t need a soothsayer to tell her to tell her what was in that box. It was certainly in line with her character.

"That’s enough, we don’t want to keep the groom waiting, Yanyan, go have your bath," Nanny Zhong instructed and she obediently went into the bathroom.

When she came out of the bathroom, the same set of stylists were the ones present alongside Nanny Zhong, Chen Wenling and Zhou Mian.

"Good morning Mrs. Li, congratulations on your wedding," Xin Yan’s lips twitched a few times due to the way she was addressed but there was nothing she could do.

She obediently sat down as she allowed the make-up artists work their magic on her.

An hour later, they were done and once again, they were stunned at her beauty.

"My gosh, Yanyan is so pretty, everyone, that’s my bestie," Zhou Mian yelled out as she she looked at Xin Yan with admiration in her eyes. There were even traces of envy it.

Xin Yan radiated grace and elegance in her traditional wedding attire. Her intricately embroidered red silk qipao hugged her curves, adorned with delicate golden threads and exquisite floral patterns.

Her hair was styled in an ornate updo, secured with silver pins and a sparkling tiara, also adorned with a blue headpiece.

A dainty veil framed her face, adding a touch of whimsical beauty. Subtle makeup enhanced her delicate features, with a soft blush on her cheeks and a gentle shine on her lips. She was truly mesmerizing.

"Yanyan, do let me take a photo of you, I really need to post it on my WeChat moments, my best friend is so mesmerising, I bet Li Qiang won’t be able to take his eyes of you," Zhou Mian blabbered.

"Isn’t she ready? You want that man to chop my head off, Xin Yan, I’m coming in now," they heard a very impatient voice and they could only exchange helpless sighs.

They knew who that voice belonged to. It was Xin Yi.

Xin Yan gave a look to Chen Wenling who rushed to open the door before it gets maimed by him.

"What’s taking you....." Xin Yi stopped in his tracks as he gaped at his sister, eyes wide open, mouth wide open in surprise.

"Xin Yan?" He called carefully as he wondered if it was his sister who was standing in front of him.

"Say Xin Yi, can’t you recognise your sister? But I know, Yanyan is to pretty now, so it’s understandable you might not recognise her," Zhou Mian taunted while clicking her tongue.

Xin Yi recovered on hearing Zhou Mian’s words.

"So what? She’s not your sister at the end of the day, shall we leave? The ceremony can’t begin without the bride," Xin Yi pursed his lips as he held her hands while they walked out of the room and the mansion.

On seeing the bridal procession, Xin Yan felt her head ache. If she had known, she would have just opted to signing some papers. At least, she won’t face such big issues.

"Where are Grandma and Grandpa?" She asked whe her eyes had already done a comprehensive patrol at the entire area but couldn’t find them.

"They are the Li’s old residence, they decided to wait alongside that brat, come on, let’s go," Xin Yi urged her as he carried her and placed her in the car which signified the beginning of the wedding.
