Rebirth: The Heiress Plans Her Revenge-Chapter 21: Wedded Traditionally
Chapter 21: Chapter 21: Wedded Traditionally
The ride to the Li’s residence was long. This was due to the crowd which had gathered. Everyone in the country were aware that the two families will be uniting in marriage.
They finally got to the Li’s residence and Xin Yi couldn’t help but heave a sigh of relief.
"I don’t know what’s the use of a traditional wedding when a white wedding and also court wedding has been done," he grumbled.
"I’m sure this was Li Qiang’s idea, he’s always ostentatious," he put the blame on Li Qiang naturally.
"The elders were the one who decided on it," Chen Wenling spoke up. She really could not stand Xin Yi insulting President Li.
"Ohh," an awkward look appeared on his face.
"Anyways, I will go catch up with them, I’m sure they are aware of your arrival," to save himself from embarrassment, he left the car immediately.
"Your brother hasn’t changed one bit," Zhou Mian sneered as she fixed her gaze on his retreating back.
"Yes, he hasn’t," Xin Yan concurred with her.
"The groom is making his way," they suddenly heard the drum being beaten.
Xin Yan’s heartbeat rose. Just the thought of Li Qiang making his way to the car caused her to feel flushed.
"Hehe, is Xin Yan blushing?" Zhou Mian teased.
"I’m not, I just feel stuffy with all the layers of clothes I’m wearing," Xin Yan rolled her eyes.
"If you say so, I will be outside, Chen Wenling, did you prepare tough questions for him? We mustn’t let him go," Zhou Mian asked with fervour.
"Yes I did, I guarantee that he won’t be able to answer," Chen Wenling patted her chest as she assured Zhou Mian who nodded in happiness.
Knock! Knock! They suddenly heard the windows to car being knocked.
"He’s here, Sister Mian, let’s give him an hard time," Chen Wenling grinned with a fighting spirit. She fished out the book in which she had prepared the questions.
"Is everything ready?" Zhou Mian asked. Chen Wenling bopped her head in happiness.
"Brother-in-law," Zhou Mian greeted as she judged the man.
’Not bad, he has a good shape, just right for Yanyan,’ her eyes reflected the approval and Li Qiang let out a smile.
"Alright President Li, before we allow you see your bride, you must answer a few questions, is that fine by you?" Chen Wenling asked with a nervous smile as she secretly wiped her sweat. His aura was too strong for her.
"Ask away," Li Qiang had a good attitude as he was ready to answer all questions.
"When did you first meet Xin Yan?" Chen Wenling asked. She wasn’t the one who set the question. Ot was Xin Yan.
She secretly lit a candle on behalf of Li Qiang. The questions were tough, no doubt.
"I met Xin when she was just five years of age, at that time I was ten, she was really cute," Li Qiang had a nostalgic look on his face as he thought about his first meeting with Xin Yan.
If he was aloof, then Xin Yan was withdrawn. She didn’t want to participate in any activities that particular day.
Chen Wenling gave him a strange look.
"It’s correct," the surrounding guests hailed while Zhou Mian pouted her lips. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel-com
"Where did you meet Xin Yan?" She asked the next question.
"At a banquet, precisely, late Mr. and Mrs. Xin’s wedding anniversary," he replied confidently.
"Correct," Chen Wenling spoke up again.
She then continued to ask various questions, each one tougher than the previous one but Li Qiang was able to nail each and everyone of them.
"Correct, you are allowed to see the bride," she waved her hands in defeat as she and Zhou Mian made way for him.
"Why didn’t you set difficult questions? He was able to nail each and everyone of them," Zhou Mian complained.
"I really did and it wasn’t me who set the questions, I even had to change some at some point in time," Chen Wenling weakly replied.
"Who set the questions?" She was interested in this. She knew the questions were difficult, she just couldn’t accept that Li Qiang was able to nail it every single time.
"It was President Xin," Chen Wenling responded. She couldn’t help but give Xin Yan a thumbs up.
"Yanyan, I’m here to pick you up," Xin Yan’s breathing increased as she listened to his hoarse voice which sounded flirtatious.
"I didn’t expect President Li to be able to answer every single one of my questions," Xin Yan opened the window as she looked at him, mirth evident in her eyes.
"It’s my duty to know every single thing about my wife," he responded in a playful tone.
"Shall we," he had already opened the door as she stretched forward his hands to her.
She placed her hands in his and once again, the drum was beaten. This signified that Xin Yan was willing to place her life into his.
"You look handsome," Xin Yan complimented and it wasn’t a lie.
Li Qiang was wearing a red traditional wedding attire and it gave him a different feel, different from when he wears a suit or tuxedo.
His black hair was jelled backwards and his attire adorned with different stones making his attire look heavenly.
"Thank you, as always you are beautiful, you always seem to shatter my worldview," Li Qiang complimented.
"You have a sweet mouth," Xin Yan shook her head.
"You are wrong, I only say the truth without sugarcoating my words, that’s how I really feel about you," Li Qiang was quick to retort and she gave a curt nod.
They had already arrived at the main entrance.
"Good child, congratulations, this is my little gift to you," Grandpa Li was emotional as he handed a packaged box to her.
"Thank you Grandpa," she thanked him with a sweet smile.
She turned to look at her own grandparents.
"We would gift you later, first perform the ceremony, time isn’t on our side," Xin Yan chuckled at her grandpa’s words but she still obediently went over to their ancestral room.
She and Li Qiang kowtowed three times and for each time they kowtowed, the drum was beaten. After kowtowing to their ancestors, they went over to the elders, kowtowing three times also.
Then they kowtowed to each other which signified the end of the ceremony. They were now married and soon enough, firecrackers were lit as they celebrated the new start for the couple.
