"Don’t you recognise me? Forget about me being an actor? Don’t you recall Lu Wei from your childhood?" At this point, it was obvious Lu Wei was in a horrible mood.

Gu Shishi looked up at him, she scrutinized him thoroughly, but her face was blank.

"I seriously have no idea of you, I only know you as an actor," Gu Shishi was totally clueless on who he was.

Lu Wei ruffled his hair. Right now, he could finally say he was frustrated. He circled her room twice, and she could only stare at him with confusion in her eyes.

Lu Wei stopped all of a sudden. He took slow steps towards Gu Shishi who stared at him warily. She wondered what he was about to do.

Gu Shishi who was on the bed moved back, but the more she moved back, the more Lu Wei inched towards her.

"What are you trying to do?" She asked, still inching backwards till her back hit the wall, signifying that she had no place to run to anymore.

Gu Shishi turned to look at the wall, before diverting her attention to Lu Wei who was still inching closer to her.

She bit her lips heavily, so much that the bite drew blood. Lu Wei stopped at the sight of the blood.

He observed her expression, and he could see that she was trembling heavily.

"I am not here to hurt you, I cannot hurt you, I only want you to remember who I am, I am Lu Wei, not Lu Wei the actor, but the little boy you helped when he had an accident," Lu Wei stared straight into her eyes, he wanted to know if she truly did not recall him, or if she was just faking it.

Gu Shishi returned the stare, her chest heaving heavily. She hoped he was not going to hurt her.

She looked into his eyes, and she could see the desperation, the frustration, and the pain he was trying so hard to conceal.

Gu Shishi searched through her memory, and she finally grasped a tiny memory, it seemed it was fading.

She suddenly gasped. She was able to recall what he was talking about. This incident had happened for a long time, and if it had not been mentioned, she would have probably forgotten about it.

"So you are the little boy," Gu Shishi murmured, and Lu Wei took a step back, while sighing in relief.

"You finally remembered," he commented, and one could hear the relief in his voice.

"I am sorry that I didn’t recall at first, the incident happened a long time ago, therefore, it is not possible I recall it, I hope you forgive me," Gu Shishi apologized.

Lu Wei shook his head.

"It is not your fault, to you, it might just be a simple favor you did, but your single favor has been stuck in my head my entire life, I am aware it might be stupid to say this considering we met when we were just kids, but I like you, I like you a lot," Lu Wei confessed, with his head lowered.

Gu Shishi parted her lips wide open. She was not expecting the sudden confession.

"Why did you say something like that?" Gu Shishi asked, tucking her hair behind her ear shyly. She had to admit, the confession came as a shock to her, and she did not know how she was to react to it.

"You must be joking, aren’t you? How could you love me?" Gu Shishi asked, her face blushing from the intensity of his words.

"I wish I was joking, but I am telling the truth here, it might sound weird, but I really do like you," Lu Wei continued, one could hear the sincerity in his voice.

Gu Shishi opened her mouth, and closed it in surprise. Words eluded her, and she could not react at all.

Lu Wei observed her expression, and he concluded that his sudden confession must have scared her deeply.

"You do not need to say anything, allow me to court you, give me three weeks, if I do not make you fall in love with me, then I will let go of my feelings for you," Lu Wei placed an option before her.

Gu Shishi looked at the serious expression on his face, and she decided to give him a chance, there was nothing wrong with it. At the end of the day, she was the one with the choice, to fall in love, or to not fall in love.

"Alright then, three weeks, I am giving you three weeks to court me, if I do not fall in love with you at the end of the third week, then we will go our separate ways," Gu Shishi agreed, and he nodded in satisfaction.

"You do not need to worry about falling in love with me or not, I am happy you gave me this opportunity, and I promise you won’t regret the three weeks you will be spending with me," Lu Wei gave her his word.

Gu Shishi smiled, she was actually looking forward to seeing what he was going to do to make her fall in love with him, and how he was going to achieve it.

"Why are you here early?" Gu Shishi asked, gesturing for him to take a seat on the sofa present in the room.

"I wanted to discuss with you, I am aware that I might not get the chance due to your birthday party," Lu Wei replied, dropping the gift box on her vanity table before taking her seat.

"Is that for me?" Gu Shishi asked, and she was about to pick the gift box, but she was stopped immediately.

"Why?" She asked him.

"You are only allowed to open it once I leave," Lu Wei instructed, and she withdrew her hands at once.

"You know, I had lost all hope of finding you, I was prepared to get married to the girl of my mom’s choice, who knew it would turn out to be you? I am so happy to finally meet you," Lu Wei explained to her.

Gu Shishi stared at him for a while, and she could not detect any lies from what he was saying. He was saying the truth!

"Do you mean Mrs Lu?" Gu Shishi asked, and Lu Wei nodded positively.

"Oh!" Gu Shishi drew out, and the atmosphere turned silent, but not awkward.

"I want to ask a question, you can ignore it if you don’t feel uncomfortable with it, can I go ahead?" Lu Wei asked for permission.

"Sure, you can ask away," Gu Shishi replied.

"While the maid brought me here, I noticed your room is far away from the normal building, why is that?" Lu Wei asked, squinting at her. He wanted to know the exact truth.

Gu Shishi’s face dropped. She should have expected that this was the question. No sane person would not notice it.

She heaved a sigh, remaining quiet. She was contemplating whether or not she was to tell him the truth.

Even though he had shown his sincerity, she was not sure if she could believe him.

"It is perfectly okay if you do not want to tell me," Lu Wei said, he could see the reluctance in her eyes.

"No, no, I can tell you about it, it is just, anytime I recall about it, I just feel immense pain," Gu Shishi breathed out, the pain in her voice, extremely audible.

"You know you can tell me about it, what is the matter?" Lu Wei rose from the seat, he was close to touching her. He could see the pain in her eyes, and he wondered what could be the reason for this.

"My parents do not like me because I am a girl, my mom, dad, brothers always find me to be a threat because my grandparents favor me, if it weren’t for my grandparents, do you think I would be having a party in this house? I am practically an outcast here, it is a miracle I am even allowed to live in this house."

Gu Shishi explained to him, and his eyes widened at her statement. He would never have expected that she faced the same thing as he.

He suddenly chuckled, and Gu Shishi was surprised by this.

"Why are you laughing?" Gu Shishi asked curiously, and her face could not hide her confusion.

"I am laughing at the similarities between our lives," Lu Wei replied, holding his stomach. He was finding this to be extremely laughable.

"What do you mean by that?" Gu Shishi queried, but she had an idea of what he meant.

"I mean, I also face severe hatred from my family, simply because I am the son of a whore, my father’s illegitimate child, a mistake, the woman who is meant to hate me is the one who took care of me," Lu Wei answered her, and she had her mouth parted in shock.
